  • Porcaro is on YT explaining the difference between these shuffles. His version of FITR, as he explains it, is not the same (to me). He doesnt open the hh in the same way,or at all actually.Subtle differences where the accents are too...love it.

  • Who is the next great drummer?

    Pay homage where due.

  • I could have this stuck in my head all day and wouldn't mind

  • @paleflarelight It makes a great ringtone!

  • I used to frequent this drum shop by my house 9 years ago when I was 12-13 and I remember one of the employees that worked there gave me this cd with a big black X on it and told me to go home and listen to it. It was the entire Bonham Outtake from "In Through the Out Door". It amazed me and he never told me where he got it.

  • his rythm is near perfect... the beginning almost sounds looped (i know its not)

  • Awesome.

  • awesome

  • very very purdy..

  • @ JOCKAMOFEENA THANK YOU. I JUST WISH THERE WAS SOME FILM OF THE GUYS IN THE STUDIO JUST JAMMING TOGETHER. BUT THANK YOU AGAIN.

  • Now you know where Toto's Rosanna drum's line came from!

  • @bettosdmf Yep, Bernard Purdie.

  • @jockamofeena Jeff Porcaro, Purdie shuffle is kind different

  • @bettosdmf Rosanna, FITR, Steely Dan's Babylon Sisters. All half time "purdie shuffles"

  • @bettosdmf Agreed. There's a video floating around with Jeff taling about just that very thing. His shuffle is an amalgam of this & his own deal.

  • @bettosdmf Exactly - what an incredible drum track. It goes down as one of the quintessential drum riffs in the book of all music. No matter how many times I hear that song on "crappy terrestrial" radio or through my studio system at home, it gets better & better each time. RIP Jeff Porcaro & Bonzo too. Jason is good man; be proud! Aloha.

  • Wow!!! Totally agree, the best rock drummer ever!!

  • Great

  • John É foda!!!! demais!!!

  • This is the very reason zeppelin became so big.....the drum sound. Thank you mr Bonham.

  • you are the f******* man for this! wow...

  • i dont really draw a lot of influence from john bonham, but he could make the standard rock beat sound better than anyone else ever. he has the best bass drum foot in drums. all that medal double bass stuff you here today was probably thanks to tracks like good times bad times (which is played with one pedal) great drummer, not anywhere near the best imo but a HUGELY important drummer.

  • @austin78993 no dude, bonham is basically the best lol

  • @jaqua524 Buddy Rich would crush him, as he would most drummers

  • @austin78993 well clearly we are talking about rock drummers, but if you wanna include buddy, then duh yeah lol

  • @jaqua524 I think keith moon is the epitome of what a rock drummer should be

  • It is amazing how great of a drummer he is!

  • I'm sorry, but this just blows my mind. I play guitar, but I wouldn't even be able to play over this. My jaw would be dropped and I'd be grooving to this this incredible f*cking drummer.

    Crazy. Blows my mind.

  • the greatest rock drummer of all time baby

  • um yeah...great but where is the rest of it? Meaning the latin jam and the ripping fills back into the groove. And no offense to all you Bernard fans out there, i like him also, but Clyde and Jabo from James Brown's band were the total SHIT.

  • this is the best drum play ever

  • @13Theoldman The poster of this vid, and a long time Bonham fan, Likes this. I think there are other drummers in different genres- Gene Grupa - Showman/Bop/Jazz, Bruford Early Phil Collins - Prog Rock... but there is nothing like Bonham. If it weren't for him, we would have no Grohl, no Steve Gorman... he IS the Meat and Potatoes of the drum world. ROCKS!

  • @jockamofeena no..keith moon is the meat of the drum world, no keith moon, no bonham, no grohl...still john is the best ever with keith

  • @jaqua524 personally, I would put Moon on a different branch of the drummer development tree.

  • @jockamofeena what do you mean?

  • @jaqua524 Meaning Moon had a different style, and the Bonham>Gorman>Grohl>me branch would've existed without Moon. Moon was more fills and flourishes- Bonham, In the groove, driving the bus, and the best rock drummer ever- . Just my opinion though.

  • @jaqua524 Moon was an awful drummer, he worked well in The Who though. John Bonham is by far the greatest rock drummer, no doubt.

  • @Murreh he wasnt aweful

  • I could listen to this ALL day long. I could not get enough of this swing feel and the dead on attack of his sticks and the noises he makes in the background, kinda humming along with it. There is nothing like this sound in the world! This is what God invisioned when he decided to add John as a drummer!

  • I don't really know how to play led zepplin songs but I just grooved to that on my bass improvising. awesome stuff.

  • One of the baddest drum beats EVER!

  • The best drummer than ever lived. Hands down.

  • NICE shot of Bonham in the studio at 0:39. Where did you find that picture?

  • Listen to WHEN THE LEVEE BREAKS, same synchopation, better than a Swiss clock, Amazing.

  • Not bad for a white boy copying some black dudes feel, not bad at all, who is he? is he famous LOL

  • @checkabreak Really? Really!?

  • @dronehymns nah nah not really lol just f*king w my fellow white brothers from mos def anotha motha, Bohnam

is top 20 fo sho' !! lol

  • Dude... that wasn't it, he had more on the song. I love it. As a drummer, I tried to play this song. I can get the jest but the accents & ghosts beats blow me away...

Yes, he was (and is) the greatest next to Buddy Rich (who was in fact Bonham's idol too), but their music is in different categories. We won't have another John Bonham, but his music will live on forever...

    Peace

  • THANKS FOR SHARING THIS!!! WHAT A LOVELY TRIBUTE.

HE WAS INDEED THE GREATEST <3

  • That's funky!

  • Does not compute...Bonham is amazing.

  • @metallicguns95 no kidding!!! How about 1:30. Bonham had such good timing AND consistency. His ghost and accent notes are dead on everytime. Amazing.

  • @metallicguns95

Exactly... Freaking unbelievable stuff... Does not compute indeed. Crazy.
