  • @Marc3c Totally how I remember Saturday mornings.

  • Yeah, the brother was on Good Times as the troubled cousin from out of town. Didn't realize he was the same guy from Wonder Bug but I knew he did other stuff before I saw him in porn 20 plus years ago just could remember what until now.

  • The brother in this show acted in porno movies after this. LOL

  • @Hemlock54 Holy crap! You are 100% correct! I had seen him in some porn flick from back in the day, but I did not recognize him as the guy from Wonderbug.

  • @TooOld2Troll Yeah, Man... "Sticks Downing" from Happy Days, schtupping chicks on film. LOL

  • The predecessor to "Knight Rider". LOL

  • I'm sorry, call me what you will but Wonderbug was, is, and always will be awesome.

  • Saturday morning... parents still zonked out in bed... laying on the living room floor in your pajamas with a big bowl of sugary cereal in front of you... watching Puffenstuff, Lidsville, Land of the Lost, Wonderbug et al... life was good.

  • Wonder Bug vs Herbie. Who would win?

  • @bluemime86 Wonderbug looks like the live action version of Speed Buggy

  • Wonderbug's horn played backwards to change back to 'Schlepcar'.

  • omg i loved these shows when I was 10 or so. Never did I realize how bad it looks now. lol

  • I forgot how bad these shows were! You never recall the bad parts.

  • i dedicate all these brain damaging shows to my elementary school teachers of weaverly school in albany oregon in the early to mid late 1970s.

  • those good old saturday mornings

  • wtf?

  • The black guy went into porn not long after these shows

  • I just remember I got molested watching this :(

  • Glad to find this. I thought for a while that no one remembered it except for my sister and me. Love this theme song.

  • I remember thinking, THIS IS SPEED BUGGY!!

  • @djrage70 Nope, Speed Buggy was a cartoon.

  • @simwrangler Yes I know but I remember as kid thinking of this as a live action rip off of Speed Buggy

  • it. was. SPEEDBUGGY.

  • OMG, it's a live action SPEED BUGGY!

  • Sure it was cheesy - but it was friggin awesome on a Sat. morning. Especially if Mom gave you a quarter or so to get candy at the nearby store.

  • @bigdumbgod Heck, this show MADE my Saturday mornings.

  • my dad is david levy.

  • Someone must have been on some good LSD when they thought of this show.

  • @DixieDevil It was produced by the mad geniuses behind Lidsville and H.R. Pufnstuf. YOu can figure it out from there.

  • I remember the cartoon version of this. I can't believe some T.V. Exec gave the go ahead for a live version....jesus, musta been nice to be stoned and livin in the 1970's!

  • John Anthony Bailey was also in a third season Good Times episode called "Cousin Cleatus".

  • W...T...F... did i just watch . . .

  • I actually remember this show. I was a kid and I loved it.

  • I think that even as kids we all knew these shows were crap... but we watched them every Saturday anyway. :) Hey, is the multi-light square panel the same thing that's on the front of the androids in "Lost Saucer"??

  • HAHA!! I saw the strings...but its all good!

  • Where is the currant location of this car?

  • Brum's grandpa....

  • I've been telling people for years that there was a live action "Speed Buggy." I would have never remembered that it was actually called Wonderbug unless I had happened across this.

  • @ramblux - Me too... me too. Vindication.

  • Wonderbug was pimped! Freshest paintjob a talking car could ever want!

  • Wonderbug WILL rise again

  • This was made in the 70s.

  • Holy Shit! WonderBug could fly? i dont remember all that. wth

  • I saw Carol Anne Seflinger in an episode of Shazam wearing some very short shorts. All I can say is....Yummy!!!!

  • Man I miss this show. I was too young to truly understand it but I loved it .

  • THANK GOD I WAS A KID BACK IN THE 1970'S WHEN THEY HAD GOOD CHILDREN SHOWS.!!! This was one of my favorite shows besides Dr Shrinker and Electra Woman and Dyna Girl. In 2010 these children shows are missing the meaning of values and respect . These shows was very magical for a very magical era, I miss the 70's

  • Sung by the Osmonds with Jay singing lead?

  • John-Anthony Bailey was great on this show and as Sticks on "Happy Days". But he fell on hard times and ended up appearing in adult films. I am not joking. You can look this up on imdb. He died of bladder cancer a few years ago and was buried in a mass grave.

  • yes he did porn I still have him on a couple of vhs's. Did you know he played styx the drummer on happy days..

  • I totally remember this show. Oh my god!

  • The black guy ended up becoming a porn star!!!

  • the black guy on this show actually did Porn after his time on Saturday Morning tv was done

  • I forgot about this show until I saw this clip - Thanx for posting - Awesome Kid memories

  • good times.... this was back when Cartoons only came on Saturday mornings. Now, Im raising my kids and they have cartoons on 24x7

  • I remember that show

  • Herbie!

LOL, JK, its just a rip off

  • i always thought of speed buggy when i watched this,,,

  • I had the Wonder Bug lunch box all thru elementary school hahaha

  • @sgtjagusmc I still have it.

  • I can't believe I'm actually watching the opening to Wonderbug.

  • OMG! I used to love this show as a kid - no wonder my generation experimented with certain things...!!!! Thanks for the post!!!

  • oh man. glad to see this again. i do miss this car

  • So an already magical talking car transforms into a magical talking car...with superpowers?

  • @back2s0ul well, it could only turn into Wonder Bug with the magical horn...when the kids found the car, it didn't have it attached.

  • I look at this now and I'm like OMG, I can't believe that I watched this, but when I was little, I was glued to the set saying, "Man, it don't get any better than this!!!"

  • What I couldn't understand is why these kids would continue to ride around in a piece of crap car and only bring out Wonderbug on rare occasions?

  • omg!! I remember this!!!!! I was maybe 5 or 6?? WOW! Thanks!

  • Kroft Supershow right?

  • When I saw the Krofft name on VHS titles in the late 90s, I didn't remember ever watching stuff by them. But I do remember Wonderbug and some other shows that I've since found out were also Krofft productions. I wonder why they got out of kids shows after the 70s?

  • Just another ripoff of Speed Buggy!! I mean how stupid did they think we were? A blind man could see those strings at the beginning! GEEZ!!!

  • The black guy John Anthony Bailey went on to become a porn star by the name of Jack Baker ......What s change huh?

  • @TarheelTad64 he died of liver cancer,i read somewhere but he has a daughter.

  • @wecarver68 yes he did have cancer

  • Wonderbug's theme song was great, as well as the storylines. Still, I thought it was a live action version of Speed Buggy. Makes me miss certain days of my childhood.

  • WonderBug would totally WHOOP Speed Buggy! DAMN good post! Thank you!

  • That takes me way back

  • Another Saturday morning flashback... couldn't stand this show either.

  • WonderBug kicks Ass!!!

  • OMG...I used to love this show. It looks like total crap! Young minds are so forgiving...

  • Loved this show as a kid.

  • lord these seem different now that i am older but i still love them and oh the meroies they bring back...

  • Comment removed

  • watching this gives me a craving for a bowl of captain crunch.

  • This was a round house kick to the childhood. Thanks for posting.

  • I loved this when I was, like, four. What the hell was I thinking?

  • resembles Speed Buggy

  • maybe they have a connection.

  • My goodness, I used to watch this show. Wow, it looked corny, but when I was a kid, I would wake up and watch this show. Another show, that I love was Dr. Shrinker.

  • hugo...no me pprrrovoooques

  • I bought a DVD with some of these old shows, and thought, "man these shows were corny. But it did brought back memories of my youth. And I guess you don't think how corny there are when you are a kid. That's when Saturday mornings was fun.

  • I know the feeling. I'd love to find that dvd. Corny but, SO many memories of waking up saturday mornings. :)

  • @simwrangler - I thought they were corny, but that was part of their appeal for me. :)

  • Wonder Bug was excellent.....i loved all the old tv shows from back in the late 70's early 80's.

  • OMG i knew this was a real show noone would believe me!

  • ME TOO!!!!! I had Wiki'd Electra Woman & Dyna Girl trying to jog my memory and nothing came up before, but as I'm sitting here now watching Penelope Pitstop I thought I'd try it one more time. HALLELUJIAH, I can prove I'm not crazy. Well I am, but at least I have proof the show existed. LOL

  • i love Electra Woman and Dyna Girl was a great show i remember. And Captain Marvel and Isis, Wonderful . Electra fantastic, Oh Mighty Isis.

  • Oh yes....Wonderbug, Dr Shrinker and ElectraWoman and DynaGirl...

  • Dang, columbusmozart! Those are EXACTLY the shows I associate with this, to a tee!

Kids these days don't know what Saturday morning even is anymore.

  • man i havent seen this since late 70s wow this brings back memories

  • NOW THAT's OLD SCHOOL !

  • Thanks for posting this. I use to love this show when I was a kid. Thanks for the memories.

  • marihuana must have been very cheap at that time!!! ha ha ha

  • best comment ever :)

  • Comment removed

  • @makomx Marijuana was cheap back then. But the quality is much better now ... from what I have heard.

  • @makomx Well, considering the entire magic car only cost $7.34 . . . .

  • Need To Bring Them Back! A>S>A>P>

    You have been Kissed.

  • Musta been something in the Koogle stuff we ate ! Every Saturady watching the Kroft Supershow.

  • Wow, this could be used in place of water-boarding.

  • LOL!!!

  • Yeesh...take me back to the '70's!

I used to love this show way back in the day and had the biggest crush on the girl in the yellow jumpsuit.

  • I think everybody had a "kroft" crush or two. Mine were Judy Strangis (Dina Girl) and Caroline Ellis (Joy from the bugaloos)

    *sigh*

  • I use to watch this...What a dork

  • See? Dorks are people, too!

  • I LOVED this show as a kid!

  • Live action Speedbuggy!

  • What The Fuck were Sid & Marty Krofft on when they did these freakin' shows!

  • way to much crack lol

  • Acid, Crack, and some LSD to it....

  • Made perfect sense to me when I was 5 or so...

  • LOLOLOL

  • I guess its is SCHLEP lol

  • Speedbuggy and Wonderbug seemed so similar that as I kid I think I got them confused, although I do think the Wonderbug theme is a brilliant song!

  • Jack Baker went from doing kiddie shows to porn--talk about extreme opposites!

  • Yeah, I saw him one, freaked me out!

  • as an adult i aways wondered why this guy looked familiar to me in his adult films. now i know he was in good times, happy days, and this show. i'm still like what happened for him to cross over like that?

  • My memories of this show are hazy, but I do remember the buggy. For the longest time, when I thought of this show, I also would recall the Bay City Rollers show, but I'm not sure if they played back to back. I definitely don't remember HR Pufnstuff.

  • Why did those three hang out togeter anyways?

  • I used to have a toy of Wonderbug! Ha.

  • Herbie in the '60s, Wonderbug in the '70s, Knightrider in the '80s and even Brum in the '90s - all based on the concept that "Wouldn't it be cool if cars were alive and had adventures" :)

  • You forgot "My Mother The Car!"

  • Great, now I need to call that Shrink again.

  • ...Dr Shrinker...?....perhaps? lol

  • lol. Dr Shrinker, he's a mad man with an evil mind. Dr. Shrinker he's as crazy as you'll ever find. LOLOL.

It was so much fun to be a kid in the seventies. :)

  • You nailed Cathy! Haha, the seventies were charmingly weird but an exciting decade nevertheless.

  • John Anthony Bailey went on to star in many many adult films such as "New Age Hookers" and "Right Between The Sheets"

  • NEW WAVE Hookers...I used to see the guy walking around The chinese Theatere in Hollywood, around 1991...

  • I saw him drinkin a pina colada at Trader Vic's

    And his hair was perfect.

  • hehehehehe...... nice one. AROOOOOOOOOOO!

  • And people wonder why we were all hammered in the 70s.lol

  • i cant believe i found this.i loved wonderbug on saturday mornings.

  • i cant believe i remember this

  • Man. Even though I lived thru them, the seventies were FUCKED.

  • god forbid that i have liked this show, wouldn't want to be out of step with you wonderful people ready to trounce other people's cherished memories.

  • I loved this show when I was a kid. Looking at it now, I have no idea why.

  • That brother did porn in the early 80's

  • yeah Jack Baker RIP did Happy Days, Wonderbug and plenty of porn.

  • This is the show that introduced me to the Dune Buggy, and I've wanted one ever since!

  • anyone know where I can find the full intro to Krofft Superstars. Where two stars collide and the Krofft Superstars logo comes spinning after you with the big bang included if at all possible.

That intro with the big bang scared the hell out of me back then :)

  • True. Love that disco theme.

  • If this series ever get reprised (brought back)again, it'll be done with CGI effects,

new characters. Wonder Bug was a live-action

knock-off of H-B's "Speed Buggy" and the fore-runner to "Knight Rider" (All versions).

  • Holy crap! I thought I dreamed this shit. The 70's were a very strange time.

  • It was 1976.

  • I remember this show. Didn't much like it but it's better than the crap kids have in front of them now. A magic horn turns the car into a stoner's dream ride.

  • I never understood why they just didn't leave car as Wonder bug all the time? Why switch back to Shlep?

  • i'm with you, they should of just car in Wonder Bug form 24/7 but when i was looking at this intro the only thing i could think of was "man...the 70's must of been a magical time"

  • Duh, Schlep had a much better personality.

  • Schlep was wonderbugs secret idenity. Ie clark Kent to superman.

  • The car got "tired." I'm not kidding. In one episode they had him turn into Wonderbug more than usual and he could barely move because apparently, being Wonderbug was exausting.

  • Holy Cow!!! I can't believe it! Thank you for putting this up, I haven't seen this in years.

  • Loved this show.

  • This takes me back!! I used to love this show as a kid!! The black guy turned into a porn actor though!

  • Thanks for pointing that out. I thought he looked familiar. Jack Baker, right?

  • That's hilarious. I KNEW that was the same guy! Ha-Ha!! Shiiiiiiiit! Let Me Tell Ya 'Bout White Chicks! LOL

  • I was only 8 when this was on but I had a big crush on the girl.

  • It took me about 4-5 hours to find the name of this show on the internet. THE WONDERBUG! I remember this aired along with Space Academy, Shazaam and the Secret of Isis in Cincinnati. I'm 37, so this was

  • Wonderbug was actually a part of the Krofft Supershow. It was a 1 hour show comprised of several smaller shows like Wonderbug, HR pufinstuff and such. Shazam and Isis came on later. I lived for sat mornings. I was a huge fan of wb. I love vws anways so that made me more of a fan. Herbie is awesome too.

  • You and me both! I can't believe I just remembered the lyrics and sang along with this video! LOL

  • OMG this makes me ears so happy!

  • I haven't seen this since 1st grade!

  • i still remember this song, and i am . when you hear the horn, help is on the way....

  • OMG! What a flashback! This and Speed Buggy on Saturday Morning Cartoons! What a trip! Thanks for posting this! Now I am a kid again!!

  • AWSOME!! I loved this show!!! Wonder bug and Speed Buggy were my heroes!!! What a wonderful trip to Saturday mornings of the past! I love this!

  • YES! Wonderbug lives!!!

  • Never heard of it! Wish I had of after watching this intro. Makes Herbie look relatively mundane lol. Love it.

  • Wonderbug was inspired by Herbie. It was a fun show but way to corny. I loved it but it doesn't hold up like the Herbie films do.

  • OMG... I had COMPLETELY forgotten about Wonder Bug!

  • So now we know where the music for "The Curly Shuffle" was lifted from as this sounds suspiciously similar. NYUK! NYUK! NYUK!

  • I loooved this show and those effects. They are truly "special"!

  • JOHN ANTHONY BAILEY later went on to star in porn films including traci lords "new wave hookers."

  • L.A. needs to be blown off the face of the planet!

  • Whoa. . .was that Jack Baker?

  • Great!!!LOL. Part of the "Krofft super show" from ABC.It also featured "Dr.Shrinker","Electra Woman and Dynagirl" and hosts "Captain Kool and the Kongs"
