One doesn't have to be religious to believe in an afterlife. I'm spiritual, but don't subscribe to any particular religion.
I do, however, believe in life after death, as well as reincarnation. So, we, which is our soul, transfer back and forth between the spirit world and the physical world.
But it also doesn't make sense to me that we would live our lives, and then suddenly all consciousness ceases. What would be the purpose of that? There must be more than just physical life.

None of them make sense. Please understand that no matter how much sense you make people are immune and have no interest in truth or learning. One doesn't have to be religious to believe in an afterlife. I'm spiritual, but don't subscribe to any particular religion.
I do, however, believe in life after death, as well as reincarnation. So, we, which is our soul, transfer back and forth between the spirit world and the physical world.
But it also doesn't make sense to me that we would live our lives, and then suddenly all consciousness ceases. What would be the purpose of that? There must be more than just physical life.
