  • destroying mankind ant then change your mind? Priceless.

    Damn right XD

  • wow.. some interesting posts... well first - freud was the father of psychology, and influenced the show.. so dont be dissin him; second, the show is amazing for the psyche stuff, but it is also a amazing from just a film and storytelling standpoint (/agree with shinjiemisato)

  • Destroy all man-kind, then change mind...Priceless

    lololol you funny man XDD

  • Yup, that pretty much sums up Evangelion. The end is so utterly anticlimactic, you wonder why they bothered in the first place. It's sort of like if they ended Citizen Kane with the reporters finding "Rosebud," or the formerly-blind flower girl kneeing Charlie Chaplin in the groin to end City Lights.

  • Of course is justa a parody, but the point of the simbolism in the movie, is very well done. its a metaphor for the process in psychanalysis in projectin your "narcisim-object" outside of yourself and building up ur adult identity trough "killing" your parents (rei represents the "mother").

try reading some of freud and watching eva again with the main concepts of psychanalysis in your mind. everything will make sense =X

  • Here's an idea: try composing your replies on something where you can do spell-checking, and then copy-and-paste it here, instead of embarrassing yourself by trying to simply wing it when you have no idea how to form words properly.

  • First of all, english is not my first language, neither do we speak it officialy in our country.

Second: I do study english and have both great lissening and reading, however, writing properly is another story, specially when talking about spelling in such a confusing and bad planned language. In either way, this is not an academmic translation neither a serious post. Its just a informal comment on youtube, so i dont feel at all obligated to write it 100% correct as long as its understandable.

  • Whatta hell do you mean "waste of time" dude? Evangelion is a genious exploration of the processes of gettin mature, and overcoming depression. Hideaki Anno went into a deep 4-years depression before making evangelion and had ocidental-like psychoanalysis. During the treatment he kept a diary about his progress, and decided to write an anime entirely on his experiences. He said once on one of his fell interviews "Evangelion has my life in it, thats what it is: me, if you don´t like it, too bad"

  • "dude" his "brande" of psychanalysis may have suffered lots of rewrting revision and now may differ and be used differently by some lines of psychanalist, But in absolut they have been "discreted". The main narcisist concepts, edip principles and lots of others theories like the development of childs and adolescents are still studied and restudied and used together with other new revised theories in psychoalysis. I do know since had analysis for over 6 years now and´ve studied a lot of it.

  • all i know is i was emo-ish then i watched the entier series and now im semi-normal...

    Evangelion fixed my brain ^,.,^

  • @shinjiemisato A lot of your readings into Evangelion are very insightful. I started reading and studying Freud because of Evangelion. It's an incredible work. I've also read Jung, Mark Twain, about Kaballah, and others because of Evangelion. It draws from many works. I'd also recommend reading about the Omega Point from which "Instrumentality Project" is derived. One cannot understand the ending of the anime without understanding Freud's oedipus complex. You're absolutely right.

  • Freud is considered the father of psychology...wtf you smoking?

  • And besides, with the second Rebuild of evangelion it's quite clear that Rebuild is NOT a re-telling of the story. It's a development on an art piece that couldn't be fully done (restrictions of Japanese TV of the time)

About the 'waste of time' part, well... No

The elements, technically speaking are "post modern". A piece of story telling like that should be regarded as ART.

If you're one of those people that don't like "art' then *YOU* should move on.

  • You seem like the sort of person who talks because he's in love with the sound of his own voice. I mean, really...you throw these terms like "post modern" and "ART" around like you know something other than your own silly opinion. I have forgotten about more "art" than you'll probably ever know.

BTW, I HAVE moved on. Did you see how long ago that post was? Why are YOU bringing it up again?

  • lol

I've STUDIED those terms at university.

Didn't notice the date, I guess I'll just drop it.

    Peace,

  • @bluemist87 Apparently, according to fandom wild mass guessing...

The Rebuild of Evangelion is actually a sequel.

The Rebuild Characters are just going through another cycle.

That's also why there's two Liliths, Kaworu being uhh....ambigous, and why the Moon has Blood around it.

  • What was the name of the song? I loved it! :3

  • @Ingisen It sounds like the 2nd part of Orff's "O Fortuna".... not sure though.

  • Brief quibble: the reporters never find out what Rosebud means. The camera just closes in on the sled for the second-to-last shot of the film, so only the *audience* knows.

  • @yohannbiimu the original ending went into the psychological effects on the characters, if you don't have enough of an attention span to look deep into the, why did you watch?

  • The song is included in O fortuna with Carmina Burana the famous song of the movie "the prophecy", this piece is called fortune plango vulnerat. Good AMV. 5/5
