By the looks of it, the water runs down the cobblestone pathway in which he climbed out of the hole, making it's way over to the bottom torch, and when water touches the torch it reverts to a normal item, no longer holding the sand on top of it, and when one sand block goes, all of the blocks above are forced to go down also. Thus triggering all of the blocks of sand to fall one by one after eachother, & thats what makes the ground 'fall' from underneath the persons' very feet. Rawr.

Oh its held my torches DUH! Dummy me i was putting random things in thanks now my 100 block wide castle will be safe! I actually have a couple recommendations/requests for the next video of this, if you end up making one.

1. Could you possibly create a more efficient trap? The way it is currently is pretty amazing and cool, but without being able to re-set it quickly or with less work since it takes a long time as is, its not a very good trap.

2. Explain it perhaps? This has been suggested already so... No need to elaborate.

3. Maybe a more sneaky trap? Right now there are some suspicious looking things.

Another idea is an deep opening underneath with one layer of sand on top of one layer of dirt, on top of one layer spaced tnt. A switch could set off tnt in chain reaction, removing dirt layer, letting sand free fall. The two layers would keep the inside of house from being damaged, assuming you wanted to build more than a 4 by 4 house.

Great design, but I see a flaw. Couldn't you stand on the stone block directly in front of the chest? If i saw that water, I would. Then I would use that cobblestone you had there to make a bridge to the entrance. Huh?

@bitasy1 The trap can be made with the chest right next to the sand pit, with no ledge. Also the trigger can be made so you can't see any water (you can still hear it). Just check out his other video demonstrating it, it's much more subtle than this one.

Is it possible to use gravel instead of sand to achieve the same effect? A friend tried to play this on me but I didn't fall for it because of the sand i knew it was a trap. Gravel may be tricker to tell a trap since i could detecct the sand trap.
