  • The leader's duty, Ordained by his nature, Is to be bold, Unflinching and fearless, Subtle of skill And opened-handed, Great-hearted in battle, A resolute ruler. Others are born To the tasks of providing: These are the traders The Cultivators, The breeders of cattle. To work for all men, Such is the duty Ordained for the servers: This is their nature. All mankind is born to perfection And each shall attain it Will he but follow His nature's duty.

  • @Diogenes1360 Really nice and wise

  • LOL SuperDrZais! I feel the same way. How can you NOT like reggae?

  • 5 people have cleary never smoked

  • @zengintepe - It is Duke Reid produced, Treasure Isle label originally - it might have been released on other labels subsequent to that but all Duke Reid releated. Never on Studio 1

  • @skajam66

actually, after Duke Reid died a couple of years later Coxsone Dodd DID press up a few different Treasure Isle singles, with the TI logo but "distributed by Coxsone". not only that, Dodd pirated 2 TI dub LP's that were done by Sonia Pottinger, who got the remainder of Treasure Isle willed to her by Reid. i have a few of the bogus TI 7" singles, as well as Treasure Isle Dub 1 & 2 it was quite a shady deal, and the legal fight over TI went on for 30+ years after that.

  • i always thought this was studio 1 - label says treasure isle? coxsone or duke reid originally - anyone clarify please!! top tune tho!!

  • @zengintepe

although Holt did some of the same songs both for Studio One and Treasure Isle, "Ali Baba" was definitely Duke Reid only. the original 1969 pressing has "I'm Your Man" on the flip side, later 70's represses have a "version", and the latest one has "Stealing, Stealing" as the B-side.

Jackie Edwards did a revive cut of "Ali Baba" for Bunny Lee in 1975, it became the basis for all the "Natty Chase The Barber" tracks that came out afterwards..

  • @blakbeltjonez Thanks for the clarification. Cracking tack whoever produced it!

  • Boooyah..!!

  • There is something soothing about watching the disc spin and play. I miss records.

  • I heard stuff like this on the beach when I was very young. Words were in Russian, but same musical flavor. Makes me think of hot sand, splashing of ocean waves, and girls screaming. This rules.

  • Anyone who's never been to Kingston should have a look at it on Google Earth to see how tiny the place is. The fact that it should produce such an almighty richness of fantastic music way out of proportion to it's population and financial means for such a long period of time is nothing short of a miraculous. *****.

  • @xwsftassell well said!! :)

  • @xwsftassell

you have a great taste for music. thanks for the comments

  • @xwsftassell Not all the music comes out of Kingston ...that is where most of the studios are ...but Not all.

The Artist's come from Island wide... I would say these sounds coming off the Jamaican Isle for so long is nothing short of Awesome!
