Not sure if the new Derpy Voice was a hoax or not. Either way it's frustrating when the fans of the show come up with something so cool that the producers acknowledge it, and then parent's think that it is the most offensive thing on the planet and it's ruing their child.
I admit I don't like MLP but Derpy is a good characters. It teaches kids to accept disabled people. Now these idiot mums froM America have forced them to change it. THey're bigots, pure and simple.
In my opinion, it is sad that they changed Derpy, but I'd prefer that they spend more money on producing episodes that we love so much, instead of spending time and money and possibly legal trouble to deal with explaining her to the outside community. We know who Derpy really is, and I am thankful to the MLP team fro recognizing us

Did you know that the actress who voiced Derpy said she thought Derpy was a guy? True story. She gave Derpy a guy's (or what she thought was a guy's voice) and it still made fans all over the world squeal. Gotta love MLP. <3
it is so rare when a cartoon will care enough about its fans to bring one of their characters to life, Derpy seems to be a little MC, but lets face it that's how many of you pointed her out in the crowd in the first episode. There's nothing wrong with that at all, she seems to be a kind fun loving character just a little clumsy. The amount of it was a bit far fetched but hey that's animation. MLP should be commended for the support and at least trying to bring to life a character you all love.

@shamanik1320 Yeah right now I'll still watch some "kids" shows when I'm bored, but mainly I'll watch Family Guy, South Park, Futurama, American Dad, Robot Chicken, World's Dumbest, etc. The only real kid shows I still watch are The Regular Show and Spongebob if I'm reaaallly bored. I think MLP falls somewhere in-between kid and adult now. ^^

All you complaining about how they portrayed Derpy need to realize how kind of them it was to even bring her to life. It would have been forgiving had the voice been different, like a say a valley girl for example. Then there would have been no issue what so ever. But that's not the case. If Derpy is intended to be slap stick comedy relief, then by all means I have no problem with that. It's just not the case here. They made her mentally challenged.
@godzilla1077 I actually agree with you. I think that they are trying to make Derpy, well, derpy. I won't have an issue with a mentally challenged character being a bit klutzy. Obviously your disability affects you in some way, and Derpy's makes her clumsy. As long as she's portrayed positively in other ways, like being kind, or talented in some other field (autistic savant?) I don't have an issue. Even though she messes up, remember, Derpy immediately runs to Dash's aid.
@fizzypopism The show can re-intergrate Derpy in the series is if they make an episode on how the mentally challenged have to go through obstacles in life but are also members of society who shouldn't be laughed at. From the episodes I've seen Dash is very abrasive and would be the one who can act impatient toward Derpy, with perhaps giving it an ending that shows Dash was wrong by treating Derpy harshly.

@Arbitr0n Well it just depends on your style. I like it because it is funny, kind, happy, and actually teaches some pretty good lessons. I grew up with other shows Lauren Faust created (such as Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends) so I liked her style of shows. I was the same way as you before I started watching it. I didn't know why guys liked it. So 1 day, I watched the 1st episode. Then the 2nd. Then like 10 more. I loved it. You should give it a chance, the outcome is surprising. :)

All you complaining about how they portrayed Derpy need to realize how kind of them it was to even bring her to life. Who cares if she seems "retarded" (that shouldn't even matter even if she was), the point is they just showed their appreciation for us. But you can't be grateful, because it's not what you wanted.
You know people complained to Amy Keating Rogers and made her regret writing a scene for her? You guys might as well say goodbye to Derpy, or any other shout-outs to us in the future.

@xRoyahx My kids watch the show. I don't care if the series stops making "shout outs" to the older fan base. The show has been and always will be intended for children. The rest of the stroy had a great moral for children to learn but at the same time, Derpy was used to poke fun at the MC. And of course you don't care if Derpy seemed challenged. I won't lose sleep if they don't bring her back. You either have no kids or have no idea how to raise them.

@xRoyahx What offends me is how people blatantly ignore the fact that Derpy was actually made to be menally challenged in this episode. It would have been forgiving had the voice been different, like a say a valley girl for example. Then there would have been no issue what so ever. But that's not the case. If Derpy is intended to be slap stick comedy relief, then by all means I have no problem with that. It's just not the case here. They made her mentally challenged.

@godzilla1077 I actually agree with you. I think that they are trying to make Derpy, well, derpy. I won't have an issue with a mentally challenged character being a bit klutzy. Obviously your disability affects you in some way, and Derpy's makes her clumsy. As long as she's portrayed positively in other ways, like being kind, or talented in some other field (autistic savant?) I don't have an issue. Even though she messes up, remember, Derpy immediately runs to Dash's aid.

@fizzypopism The show can re-intergrate Derpy in the series is if they make an episode on how the mentally challenged have to go through obstacles in life but are also members of society who shouldn't be laughed at. From the episodes I've seen Dash is very abrasive and would be the one who can act impatient toward Derpy, with perhaps giving it an ending that shows Dash was wrong by treating Derpy harshly.

@godzilla1077 Exactly. Dash treats her very badly here, and I think the viewers grasp that. It actually would be a nice episode about trying to have compassion for your friends if they're trying their very best.
Obviously they shouldn't go "THIS IS DERPY, SHE IS MENTALLY CHALLENGED". But they should do something like what you outlined very subtly.

@Arbitr0n Well it just depends on your style. I like it because it is funny, kind, happy, and actually teaches some pretty good lessons. I grew up with other shows Lauren Faust created (such as Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends) so I liked her style of shows. I was the same way as you before I started watching it. I didn't know why guys liked it. So 1 day, I watched the 1st episode. Then the 2nd. Then like 10 more. I loved it. You should give it a chance, the outcome is surprising. :)

@Radith87 Derpy is a term intended to describe mentally challenged. As a father of 4 the show pretty much explained that the mentally challenged are to be made fun of. You can hear it in the voice that "Derpy" supposed to have the voice of that who suffers with mental disabilities.

No it's not, Derpy if looked up correctly and historically, is a term for silliness and stupidity, also it's the clumsiness and silliness that I like. Personally one of the best people I have meet in my life has a mental handicap. You are also categorizing, it basically means that Rainbow Dash is a lesbian because of her colors and Derpy is a mentally retarded, but she isn't.

@Radith87 Really? Is that why her voice had a distinct sound to it as well as her reactions. Why not give her a regular voice? Goofy and Derpy are different as well. Goofy is more in terms as his characters like Morton, Lil' Abner or Kramer, even though he was out before them.
