Yeah, I mean now I love German cars more than Japanese now, but yesterday my dad bought a Toyota 4Runner with a V8 engine and I fucking love it. I usually don't like driving SUV's because they're harder to control but for some reason this car didn't piss me off at all, the engine was smooth, the steering wheel didn't shake my hands, etc.

I think the Japanese are full of shit, but they make good cars.

Theyve hardly been successful, but theyve been staying afloat. And I think the Toyota cars especially have been about the most boring things ever put on the road, it really shocks me that people buy them. The US government, the unions and the american public are who really killed the big 3. They made wonderful, innovative cars all throughout there history and people got cheap and bought Japanese. Brands like Scion completely prove that Americans today have absolutely no taste in cars and buy any crap the japanese send over.

In my family we have owned many many American cars, and havent had any issues with any of them. Dont see where "shitty cars" comes into play at all, ill take first hand experience any day.

I study auto in school, im constantly working on cars, and at the end of the day im glad to get into my Firebird, and come home to work on my supercharged Camaro. The japanese cars are just fugly.

European cars make MOST of there money by selling a few high priced vehicles, except for VW. They compete more with brands like Cadillac, then they do with like Chevy.

Nissan has a few nice designs like the g35 and g37 coupe, and I like the Honda S2000. Toyota has nothing at the moment. Yeh, youre right, most americans dont care what they drive, as long as its cheap and sips on gas. That really hampers innovation. Do some research, in the 80s, 90s and 00s, the big 3 have made countless firsts.

I can afford to pay for gas to drive a V8, getting 17 or 18mph combined on the road right now outta my bird. I was getting 20mpg combined before I added my aftermarket cam.

The public is just ignorant and think that less cyls, means better gas mileage. Which is true to an extent, but most modern V8s can get 26mpg without issues. Try to walk places and get exercise and save gas

Massive weight of a V8? Most modern V8s weigh only slighty more then a 4 or 6cyl. Light weight metals and modern engine design have dropped the weight of V8s considerably.

Modern V8 around 400lbs, modern honda 4cyl around 350lbs.

Nissan Leaf is ugly as sin. Ill keep my V8s, thank you very much. You can go drive your japanese "future" cars, they dont appeal to me at all. Ill take a datsun, supra, s2000, 300zx or something with real style if I bought an import.

A lot of the cars the Japanese design are for Europe and Asia. These small compacted cars are actually very safe for their environment. Any of these cars can be driven here in the U.S. like the Smart car but would be more dangerous due to the fast open highways and the big SUV's. Japan is very ahead with technology.
