Lucas was our best player last season, and was on the top of the stat league in the EPL. Lucas is one of the most improved players about right now. The unfortunate truth is that he only plays well against lesser teams. In fast-paced games where he doesn't have time and space on the ball, he can't pass or distribute well. It's a shame because he is a very elegant player and I wanted him to succeed at Real Madrid, but he can't be relied upon against world-class teams. I hope he does well wherever he goes, but Nuri Sahin is the future of Real Madrid's central midfield.

Literally every time Utd tried to attack down the middle, it was none other than our very own Lucas Leiva that broke up their attacks with consistently successful tackles, and then not only having won the ball fairly, he would actually set up a move by playing an attacking or incisive pass. He made the defence look top notch that game, he is a quality player.

@steevyp We can't sell lucas and buy gago because that puts us back to square one of only having one player in the squad who can compete, chase, mark-up and battle in midfield for the ball. Plus a real madrid fan has mentioned that gago he has a history of injuries so that's another reason we would have to hold on to lucas. When we play two in central midfield at least one needs to mark-up, chase and battle for the ball during the 90+ minutes. The clips show that gago can chase and tackle.

Lucas was our best player last season, and was on the top of the stat league in the EPL. Lucas is one of the most improved players about right now. The unfortunate truth is that he only plays well against lesser teams. In fast-paced games where he doesn't have time and space on the ball, he can't pass or distribute well. It's a shame because he is a very elegant player and I wanted him to succeed at Real Madrid, but he can't be relied upon against world-class teams. I hope he does well wherever he goes, but Nuri Sahin is the future of Real Madrid's central midfield.

Literally every time Utd tried to attack down the middle, it was none other than our very own Lucas Leiva that broke up their attacks with consistently successful tackles, and then not only having won the ball fairly, he would actually set up a move by playing an attacking or incisive pass. He made the defence look top notch that game, he is a quality player.

Salif Diao made 37 appearances during a period of two and a half seasons as he was loaned out during the seasons of 05-06 and 06-07. Baring in mind that these figures only state the number of "premier league appearances", the number of overall appearances would have been alot higher. Igor Biscan was another who wasnt as good as Lucas.

@Ru8isCO And im not saying Sissoko was better because of the profit we made... he was better because he was simply better! He did hid job as a defensive midfielder better than most and thats why a big club like juve wanted him! unfortunately he couldnt pass to save his life so thats why we got mascherano and sold momo!! do me a favour, if lucas isnt in the regular starting XI next year will you come back here and suck my balls?

@abcliqor why do you all think we are looking at players like Gago, Mvila, Sissoko and Adam? its because the manager knows our central midfield is problematic. the managers picks lucas because there is nobody else!!

@steevyp We can't sell lucas and buy gago because that puts us back to square one of only having one player in the squad who can compete, chase, mark-up and battle in midfield for the ball. Plus a real madrid fan has mentioned that gago he has a history of injuries so that's another reason we would have to hold on to lucas. When we play two in central midfield at least one needs to mark-up, chase and battle for the ball during the 90+ minutes. The clips show that gago can chase and tackle.

@watchtheclip i honestly think jay spearing will be three times the player lucas is this year. bare in mind that this is jays first season and he has only had a handful of games, he doesnt ball-watch like lucas does, he always tracks back AND gets forward, his passing is more creative... so we definitely dont only have one player who can do that.

@steevyp lucas is worth at least 12-15mill...your having a laugh if you think we would sell him for 6mill.
lucas started poorly at liverpool, yes, so much thats its a widespread opinion that he is a poor player, but infact he has been excellent the past 18months and has really developed into quite a player

@steevyp ye that was two seasons ago and a cheeky bid in the summer, and that was only due to him getting a lot of undeserved negative media attention, even benitez said he wouldnt sell him for less than 15mill and even kenny has gived him a start in the league nearly ever game and player meireles out on the left sometimes to accomodate him ...anybody who has watched liverpool this season will tell you he is one of, if not the most consistent players on the pitch all year and i wouldnt sell em

@B00012393 fair enough but every team has their best players and every team has their most consistent players but that doesnt mean they are world class. Lucas has impressed me a lot more in these past few games and I truly hope he becomes a better player, but as of right now I will say he isnt good enough for Liverpool if we wanna compete for trophies.
