For the vocal haters: The vocals does NOT ruin the songs! I must admit that I could not stand these type of vocals before, but now when I really have understood why it is so awesome, I clearly can say that it doesnt ruin everything, it just gives the sound more power! It can be hard to like, but once you like it, you'll love it

@dickcheese663 I don't think that's completely true as a rule, but I certainly agree that when the vocals are crap, you can't take a song seriously and therefore it is, as you say, ruined. Vocals don't just have to be good either, they have to suit the sound of the music being played, otherwise it simply does not work.

Bah, after getting addicted to Mors Principium Est, most so called "melodic" deathmetal bands don't sound that much melodic anymore. No bad criticism against this video, it's just a tendency I'm observing the more I listen to new bands categorized into this genre.

The only bands in this compilation I could more or less enjoy to listen to were the first and the last one, Obtenebris & Sunless Rise.

Hahah wow that's weird, I typed in "melodic death metal" and the first thing I heard was a song I wrote (skyfall)...amazing.

And no, Obtenebris didn't have any specific 'type' of music, we didn't consider ourselves 'viking' or 'folk' whatever, just melodic death metal, but our vocalist did sound a lot like Amon Amarth..
