So why would you want to turn the philosopher's stone into gold, it serves no purpose. However gold can be fed to the alchemical mercury to purify and refine it even further. Alchemical mercury is more precious than gold.

Absolutely fascinating! That mercury shivling is huge. It must be insanely powerful. I can only imagine how all the mercury was obtained and how much gold it has eaten. Although if Walter Russell's theories are correct, there are no different substances, there only is different kinds of motion, which causes different kinds of effects that are seen as different elements. Therefore you could be able to transmute elements to another using magnetic fields and perhaps noble gases.
