To show us how all our ancestors went through hell but fought like hell too. They actually lost their kids, limbs, and homes but still gave it their all. This movie is American propaganda at its finest. I like how the movie tries to sanctify the revolutionaries, while demonizing the British, in order to justify that the war was about British atrocities as opposed to just not wanting to pay taxes to the crown. Second it was not about the financial value of the tax that was levied. To give you a history lesson that is long over-due most Americans avoided this tax. Up until the french and Indian war America paid very little in taxes. After the war the British were broke and thrusted taxes upon the Americans in due for their "protection"

The French were on our side but they came into the war at the latter half of the war in 1778 and only after the Americans won the battle of Saratoga in which 6'000 British soldiers were taken prisoner. So contrary to popular belief the British were not close to victory. Also the Spanish did declare war on Britain in 1779 four years after the war had begun, so as to capitalize on the weakened British state.....

However the British did have the help of many Hessian mercenaries, who were thought of as some of finest troops in all of Europe, they also had Native American tribes on their side including the Iroquois, who were said by a British officer that 1 Iroquois warrior was the equivalent of 12 British infantry men. There British also had American loyalists....

The Dutch did the same to Crown garrisons in the Carribean, and also attacked RN and the merchant ships in the North Sea and English channel. I think you will find the numbers of combattents were well in the favour of the rebels.
The French financed the rebels from the outset, and were invited to send 90% of their navy and soldiers, who numbered over 60,000.
@broncos12405 Saratoga the rebels outnumbered Crown soldiers 3;1 and this was the case for most of the war. GB and the Crown winning more battles forced the rebels to ask for direct French military aid.
The red Indian contribution was negligable, but questions why the Indians supported the Crown and completely mistrusted the rebels. Perhaps they knew what to expect?

This movie is American propaganda at its finest. I like how the movie tries to sanctify the revolutionaries, while demonizing the British, in order to justify that the war was about British atrocities as opposed to just not wanting to pay taxes to the crown. I also love, how the movie tries to skip over the treatment of African slaves by the protagonist. As if to imply that blacks were treated with care by white Americans, that they were slaves by their own "free will". yup, American propaganda.

Second it was not about the financial value of the tax that was levied. To give you a history lesson that is long over-due most Americans avoided this tax. Up until the french and Indian war America paid very little in taxes. After the war the British were broke and thrusted taxes upon the Americans in due for their "protection"

I don't really know what the problems are here. I rarely read any American comments degrading other countries or their contributions to the war, unless responding to a negative comment. The French were on our side but they came into the war at the latter half of the war in 1778 and only after the Americans won the battle of Saratoga in which 6'000 British soldiers were taken prisoner. So contrary to popular belief the British were not close to victory. Also the Spanish did declare war on Britain in 1779 four years after the war had begun, so as to capitalize on the weakened British state.....

@toonmag50 ...I have never heard of Dutch forces helping the American side but I could be wrong and would be interested to hear the source. However the British did have the help of many Hessian mercenaries, who were thought of as some of finest troops in all of Europe, they also had Native American tribes on their side including the Iroquois, who were said by a British officer that 1 Iroquois warrior was the equivalent of 12 British infantry men. There British also had American loyalists....

@broncos12405 The Spanish consistently held down the GB Crown garrisons in Florida -with or without a formal declaration on war. The Dutch did the same to Crown garrisons in the Carribean, and also attacked RN and the merchant ships in the North Sea and English channel. I think you will find the numbers of combattents were well in the favour of the rebels.
The French financed the rebels from the outset, and were invited to send 90% of their navy and soldiers, who numbered over 60,000.

@broncos12405 Saratoga the rebels outnumbered Crown soldiers 3;1 and this was the case for most of the war. GB and the Crown winning more battles forced the rebels to ask for direct French military aid.
The red Indian contribution was negligable, but questions why the Indians supported the Crown and completely mistrusted the rebels. Perhaps they knew what to expect?
As usual your yankee based satatistics are all over the place. The French fleet also caused serious supply problems at Saratoga

@toonmag50 ... like the "Queens Rangers." The American loyalist cavalry was considered to be the best in the British army. The Continental Army was almost constantly outnumbered and undersupplied during the entirety of the war.

@toonmag50 You are an Idiot. GO back home. You are just Jealous we kicked your ass. We didn't get the French until the last month of the war. The dutch were Americans, and the Spanish hated the french. We don't insult you. Britain is our best ally. If anything you should be saying Thank you. Or maybe we will just let a Dictator that has taken all of Europe bomb you until you can't breath and take you too. Exactly, no one like American but you guys can't live without us. We have saved everyone.

@ghostrecon98 yeah in WW2 Russia ran out of supplies and so did the UK(literally people starving because of the German blitzing., and France already lost in 1940.
Not to mention we helped them in the first world war which lead to that.Not to mention all the inventions we've shared with people which is way to many to mention :p.
