This show is exciting. Francois is hot! The character he plays is passionate, loyal, and sexy. I would sin over & over again to be with him. No convent for me!
Ezio Auditore da Firenze needs to be in this series, watching in the shadows like the eagles waiting for his moment to strike in the air with his hidden blade at his targets the Borgias. Yes I am an ΛC fan. This series is nothing without the Assassini! Vittoria Agli Assassini! Nothing Is True, Everything Is Permitted! ❤ Λ
Is this a cut scene of season 1 pilot (I do not recall the angle of him kissing his ring but perhaps it did place)? And the Vicar of Rome is supposedly Cardinal Orsini being discussed?
The Borgias Trailer with Catch The Falling Sky (Dorian Gray Soundtrack)
i think this Borgia production really helps support all the talent in the USA that is still available and still here....just needs polishing and more creative writers with guts...unafraid to tell the truth.....the truth is the truth and then it becomes history! Thank You Showtime for your quality programming...Need More to inspire our minds:)
Although canon law requires all Catholic dioceses to have one or more vicars general, the Cardinal Vicar functions more so than the others as a de facto diocesan bishop due to the Pope's many other responsibilities. There is a similar position dealing with the spiritual needs of the Vatican City called the Vicar General for the Vatican City State, or more exactly, Vicar General of His Holiness for Vatican City. He too is a cardinal.
Cardinal Vicar (Italian: Cardinale Vicario) is a title commonly given to the vicar general of the diocese of Rome for the portion of the diocese within Italy. The official title, as given in the Annuario Pontificio (under the heading "Vicariate of Rome"), is "Vicar General of His Holiness for the Diocese of Rome". The Bishop of Rome appoints the Cardinal Vicar with ordinary power to help with the spiritual administration of his diocese.
The Borgias is miles ahead of The Tudors, probably because it has a better cast (sorry to say, but even Maria Doyle-Kennedy, Jeremy Northam and Sam Neill couldn't save that show) and better writing, courtesy of Neil Jordan. Especially as far as historical adaptations go, the artistic liberties taken make sense re the narrative flow. It's a fine series to pay homage to that period and its Italian principalities.
The WONDERFUL costiumes of THE TUDORS were not really very authentic. They were more like Elizabethan fashion, sexier and far more flattering than Henry and his wives were seen in. I think Francois Arnaud looks perfect for Ceasare as do the rest of the cast. This show looks every bit as entertaining as THE TUDORS has been. Its not a history lesson
Pope Alexander VI (Rodrigo Borgia) is reputed to have committed his first murder at 12. His 2 dominant passions were gold and women. The Banquet of Chestnuts, also known as the “Joust of the Whores," was a favorite pastime. Corruption was nothing new to the Papacy; the Borgia’s simply brought it to new lows with murder, poisonings, incest, greed and nepotism. The Inquisition (which did not officially end until the 20th Century, the Conquest of the Americas and the Crusades, are recorded.
@prionse Yes, I was disappointed with the leather pants. That is not period dressing. In fact, I had hoped they would use many of he wonderful costumes of the Tudors. The actor who plays Cesare has been poorly chosen, he is too efferent to play this viral and fascinating character, the man was a warrior. This actor looks like a girl with leather pants on.
i kinda thought the same thing when i first seen who they chose! that they could chose this twit of a guy to play the mighty DUKE OF VALENTINO was dissapointing. but then i remembered, he was only 17/18 years old when he first became a cardinal, still a boy compared to the man he would become. but the more i watched the more drawn into the character i got. and now i think he is an excellent Valetino. and ya never know....he mite gain some muscle...lol. && here's hoping &&
@JuliaLeigh7111 lol are you serious? The Tudors was one of the most historically inaccurate shows ever -- you want to talk about costuming, half of the outfits were something out of bad "historical" films. The plotline mostly consisted of sex with some backpedaling attempts to include the religious strife and controversy of that period, dates constantly mixed up, and oh yeah, how about Jonathan Rhys-Meyers as Henry VIII? I believe his acting consisting of CAPSLOCK and more CAPSLOCK.
I think Francois Arnaud is perfect for this role. In all the previews/promos that I've seen, he seems to have a lot of charisma. And you can kinda tell already from promos that he is a talented actor.
I'm not quite sure if François Arnaud is a good actor for Cesare...he doesn't act a lot like him. But Cesare was just 18 in this scene, so I guess he will become more cruel later...;)
that pope should be careful, his own son is going to shove a poisoned apple down his throat and then flee to spain while being pursued by etzio auditore, i wonder if they'll show 'the apple'
@fakesmith797 What are you talking about? He either died of malaria or was poisoned with Cesare at a dinner with Cardinal Adriano de Corneto. Both got sick but only Cesare managed to recover.
So... Where is the assassin? ^^
