That is a neat picture indeed Mark. Speaking of the Count he and his crew may have to be one of the next Jazz LPs I get because I really do not own a lot by them.
@Bartholomule01 Take a look at my channel page - you'll see Jimmie Lunceford in the company of no less than Glenn Miller, who literally GUSHED about Jimmie's work. Basie did as well & Tommy Dorsey thought enough of Lunceford to hire Jimmie's chief arranger away in 1939.
@SwingMan1937 Indeed about Dorsey hiring Sy Oliver away. You can hear an immediate change in Dorsey's sound almost overnight; think "The One I Love" and especially "Well, Git It!".
