  • this song kicks me in the head

  • iv never heard of this band but whatever serj tankian is the best!

  • A couple of yrs ago SOAD played Ozzfest and received $350,000 per show. Each band member had their own tour bus and when they played overseas flew in their own plane. Conversely, DFD toured the country in unreliable vans and later a small camper and played before small crowds in shitty venues. DFD never had the financial backing SOAD did but they had the creative talent that SOAD never had. They're the greatest band most people never heard of and broke-up because they were broke.

  • @ripbtd you fucking rule

  • @ripbtd SOAD started out playing on small places in front of small crowds. They were traveling around, playing because they loved it, without giving a fuck about what people would think about them. Then they played at Ozzfest for the first time and were signed by a record company and people started to notice them. They´re still surprised since they never excepced any publicity. Both SOAD and DFD have a lot of creativity and innovation, none of them deserve to be picked on in my opinion (:

  • why is the picture of soad?

  • @grungerobotnow Because the person who posted this video is obviously a moron who didn't do his homework. Yet again, DFD gets no respect.

  • Unrelated - I hope Daron Malakian dies of an overdose soon, or SOAD just gets a new guitarist.

  • @MentosMan727 in my opinion daron malakian is an amazing guitarist. he has his own style. he may not be the best, but it suits soad

  • @Sepuku030

Oh dude no doubt he's a good guitarist. He's a major reason why the first two albums were so awesome. Him not shutting the fuck up is why the next two albums were mediocre at best.

I liked it back when he rarely appeared vocally in a song, and when he did it added something to it. His occasional manic lyrics were awesome. However he's NOT good enough to be a lead singer or even a back up singer.

  • @MentosMan727 exactly dude. lost in hollywood and lonely day are their worst songs. i saw them live friday.

  • @grungerobotnow No shit? Didnt even know they were touring.

  • @MentosMan727 Why? Daron is the shit

  • @glnohax I really believe his whiney ass voice on every other fucking track is why the last two albums sucked so hard. Well, I guess they didn't suck that hard but compared to the first two they were total shit

  • the opening riff is 17/8 isnt it? 8+9.

the part serj sings over is mostly 5/4. i didnt know dfd got so weird with their times

  • Dear fellow SOAD fans: This song is by DFD. Don't care if you don't like it or not that is the artist that should get the credit for this song. First of all - How many times has SOAD used a keyboard? Maybe once or twice right? So there's a change. Second - If this song was really credited more to SOAD, don't you think you could find it on Itunes or Amazon or somewhere? I'm not a big DFD fan but it would be nice if we didn't let our fan-isms get in the way of the true artists.

  • @IEATTHECHILDREN ud be surprised i just saw like 5 SOAD vids with keyboard. one of them is my faverite son "lost in hollywood". i like both bands but ive always loved SOAD . i very much like DFD

  • @killr96 Yeah I know I realized after listening but still, thats like 5 song out of 80. :p

  • @IEATTHECHILDREN thaeres more than just 5 that was just a number but they are both really good bands

  • I know this is kind of lame but I love dfd....however the only music i have....had of them was burnt for me. Anyone know the names of the other songs on this album.........and is Jeff the keyboardest, still with the bad? love to talk to him again!

  • everybody here knows music. which is good in case you were wondering

  • DFD is like Pink Floyd because you can sit down and listen to them for hours on end and not get sick of them.

  • What the hell is the time signature of this thing?!? :D

  • @KennyTheHM At the beginning, its a pattern of 3 measures of 4/4 followed b 1 of 5/4 that repeats four times. At 0:28 there are two measures of 17/8. At 0:33, 16 measures of 6/8. Then at 0:50, there are 23 more measures of 6/8, but it sounds offbeat because they're divided into 3 groups of 5 and one of 8. At 1:14, theres 4/4 until like. At 1:47, same as 0:50. At 2:11, it's 4/4 until.

  • @KennyTheHM At 2:28 there are 7 measures of 3/4 and one where the last beat becomes part of the count off into the part at 2:41, at which point it goes into a pattern of 2 measures of 2/2, followed by one of 3/2. At 3:02 its 4/4 until 3:48 which is like 2:41. At 4:07 it is like the beginning except that the third and fourth repetitions of the pattern end in another 4/4 measure as opposed to the 5/4 measure they would normally end with.

  • @KennyTheHM I know your question was probably rhetorical, but I couldn't resist the challenge. Thanks

  • @Brysonmdulack yeah, i knew all the parts, except after the second chorus... thanks dude

  • god I love this song, for a while system was my favorite band. but I just recently got into dfd nd polka dot cadaver. (which I kinda consider the same band, don't hate me --.) nd they are both my favorite damn bands. they're the only bands I can listen to no matter what. nd discovering dfd was like a breath of fresh air cuz I'm tired of the mainstream new age crap being made today. having them together is amazing but I kinda wish system did a little more in this song :/ but other than that I ca

  • @xCAUTIONZOMBIESx same thing happened to me. todd smith is a Genius

    Greetings from Venezuela

  • @xCAUTIONZOMBIESx Welcome to the mushroom cult!!

  • this is like mixing 2 amazing bands. I love it, i preffer dfd a little bit more, but i still love system. I think dfd's 1st album shouldn't be considered metal though, its more jazz and blues style. but after that it was definately more of a metal mixed with everything imaginable. Thats why i love it though, its so different from the new age crap.

  • @smartboy64 They were/are both highly experimental for what they were doing, just in different ways. SOAD was more rooted in Nu Metal and Alternative, and added tinges of death metal, eastern, hip-hop, and some other smaller influences. DFD was more in the vein of bands like Mr. Bungle, where they were alot more all over the place, but had the real basic roots in Jazz and Metal. Both bands sound extremely unique in their respective ways.

  • @guitaRNoob911 i agree with you completely. both bands are amazing, before i really knew about dfd, system was my favorite band. they are both so different, thats why i love them. 300X better then all the new age stuff in my opinion. i dont consider system as new age, by new age crap im talking about 7/8 of the stuff on much music and on the radio.

  • What year is this?

  • @Pogopogopogoo 2001 i think

  • @danielesepacheco Yeah right, during these 3 weeks I started to listen to DFD, and it's 2001 :-D I just wasn't sure cause of serj's style of singing - I couldn't file it into some year. ;-)

  • hmm, justin, we have the same 1st name and same taste in music :D

  • SOAD FTW as for dog fashion disco they are good it all depends on the person so stop sayin a band is better then another childish stuff....

  • @Abcde384 Not entirely. There certainly are bands that have MUCH more talent than others. Take all the sellout "metal" bands. There are bands that just flat-out suck. And ignorant people think that being famous means that they are good. Goddamn sheep.

  • @sojirokaidoh2 You've got it half right. For a band to get famous, they have to be liked by a wide margin of people first. They have to make music that people like in order to achieve their fame, and once their famous, they don't become sellouts until they stop making the music they want to, and start making music purely for the money. it's seams like a lot of people don't realize that a band CAN be very famous and still make good music.

  • @thehappyloser As a matter of fact, I happen to be a pretty big Cannibal Corpse fan. You can't say that CC is not a famous band.

But then there are bands like Slipknot who aren't even metal, yet they claim to be.

    Fame =/= talent.

  • @sojirokaidoh2 Thank you for replying. lol, bands like spilknot give metal a bad name.

  • @thehappyloser They have their sanction.

  • @TapesTree yeah i suppose

  • @thehappyloser

    Spilknot? Nice spoonerism!

  • @sojirokaidoh2 Agree with both.

  • @Abcde384 DFD and SOAD are two different genres? DFD is Experimental Metal band, and SOAD is a rock band. People can like to pretend that SOAD is Metal but its not, and anyone who has seen them live could tell you that. Its rock(that's not to say I'm dissing SOAD its just the genres are diff) keeping that in mind I think DFD is a stronger band because their music style is less limited by their genre and fans, and their lyrical content is far superior.

  • DFD is real Mr. bungle wannabe band. but they are really good.

  • @avantgardebrain lol comparing Bungle to DFD, that's weird. Sure fans will enjoy both groups but they are nothing alike my friend. Nothing. They kinda represent this East and West Coast Music scene in a way.

  • This song is really cool, and yeah, it does sound like a cross betweed DFD and Mezmerize's stuff. When it comes to who's better, I really wouldn't know, I love Darkest Days and Ego Brain, so... I say a tie. None of our stores have any DFD, and that kinda sucks, lol.

  • LAA la lalalala la la La La lalalalala La la

  • ooo lalalalaalaaaaa... @__@

  • laa la lalalalala lala lalalalalala la

  • DFD is really unique and definitely less mainstream than SOAD. But if you think they are more talented then SOAD then you really don't know anything. System is at an entirely different caliber. Compare a couple good songs to the toxicity album and then it'll hit you.

  • @farsah14 Toxicity was a great album but go back and listen through it now. Most of the songs all lost there appeal like listening to fgwsss by MSI now. Plus after that album everything went down hill for SOAD. Listen to Adultery by DFD it was there best album IMO but I doubt it could be disputed that it was the album that could have brought them to the mainstream. Plus Todd's vocals are unmatched by Serj

  • What do you mean everything when downhill for System? They were better after Toxicity.

  • Yeah, soad aint got shit on these guys. Todd has more talent in him than all of soad. You my good friend are nuts.

  • RIP Dog Fashion Disco, RIP System of a Down, you will both always be loved by fans across the globe forever...And RIP Mr. Bungle for DFD/Polkadot Cadaver for completely being better than you.

    ~Tim

  • I love Dog Fashion Disco :(

The singer accidentally hit me with his mic and then patted my head making sure I was ok... Their nice guys. And badass as hell.

  • damn...I KNEW it sounded like serj was featured...so many years ago and I didn't realize this until now. hahahaa what an idiot I am.

  • hunterCoons... no man. lol.

  • first of all just because a band is mainstream does not make them better DFD is better because there more creative . and also thats the reason they arent popular. its better creative wise for the band but the mainstreamers like bands that sound alike

  • @trashyvicslayer i cant name anyone that sounds the same or any of their songs that sound the same they seem to be less sellout than the rest of the mainstream metal bands but dfd is definetily better

  • @trashyvicslayer YOU'RE CALLING SYSTEM UNCREATIVE?! >:O

  • @trashyvicslayer how the hell is SOAD mainstream? >.<

  • @Daviiddify

SOAD has 3 #1 albums on the billboard charts

they have also only released 1 single that didn't crack the top 40 on the mainstream rock tracks chart

they are mainstream. that doesn't mean they are bad. those terms get confused too much these days.

  • @trashyvicslayer people do not like bands that sound alike .. they are just mindless and consume w/e is shoved down their brains on tv. that's all.

  • Don't get me wrong, I love SOAD but compared to DFD they are mainstream and far less talented. DFD has true musical freedom and creativity.

  • wow. well if you guys remember greg combs(former guitar player) well yea he randomly showed up at my school. oh and did i mention he was my chemistry teacher lol. i was like woah!!! haha

  • mr. combs is hard core!!!!

    lol

i had im the moring for first period!!!

  • fuck the haters, this shit is awesome, serj and todd are fucking GREAT together.. but i have to admit i like dfd better than soad. but both are so awesome

  • ha ha ha your all fuckin gnomes!!! fuck you fhish ass niigggaaazzzz

  • Wow this is just like systems style. The guitar drums and everything. Excepted for the background vocals i would have guessed this was system.

  • are you on crack? this sounds way more like DFD than system.

  • you're nuts... it doesn't sound much like SOAD... has more of a sound of Mr. Bungle (DFD was hugely influenced by MB)... if only Serj hadn't been involved, SOAD wouldn't overshadow the true credit for this song.

  • SOAD is better then DFD though , and more popular so thats why they got the credit

  • I agree, infact, the only reason I listen to DFD is cause of serj

  • More popular, sure. Better, no.

  • The reason I said it sounds like system is because of their mix of metal and corky-ness. It kind of reminded me of peephole.

  • what a fucking ignorant comment grow up.

SOAD is cool but they shouldn't get the credit for this song.

  • its not ignorant just the truth so calm down duude

  • Are you retarded? Whether or not they are better is subjective, and SOAD doesn't deserve the credit.

  • fuck you div this be dog fashion!!! spanner noob nibbler twat

  • its as the world spins round and round we fornicate upon the cotton clouds that rain down sulfer smiles on the children that play in the poppy fields

  • yups

  • lyrics are wrong

  • My addition to the lyrics;

As the world spins round and round,

We put the darkness inside the clouds,

Which rain down, ebolic smiles, (Cand, Candy CandY!!!

onto the children who play in the soccer fields.

  • Do you recall, Meatspin?

  • it was to on storaged melodies(unreleashed) album of system of a down.

  • Really? Does DFD know that - considering they own the copyright?

  • It was on Anarchists of Good Taste alumb of Dog Fashion Disco.

  • psychedelic kind'a shit :D

  • The truth: In the summer of 2000, DFD recorded Anarchists of Good Taste for release on Spitfire Records. DFD found out that Serj is a fan of the band. They sent Serj two songs that would fit his vocal style: Cartoon Autopsy and Mushroom Cult. Serj chose Mushroom Cult, recorded his vocals in L.A. and sent a disk back to the studio in Towson, MD. In 2001, Serj invited DFD to play 3 shows with SOAD and much fun was had by all. And yes, it is a tragedy that DFD is no more. Such is life.

  • Actually, DFD is back together <33

  • Actually, no they're not. Todd, Jasan and John recorded a Polkadot Cadaver record; Todd and Jasan are now members of a new band called Knives Out; and Todd is in the process of recording a solo album under the moniker, El Creepo. DFD officially retired on January 13, 2007, but reunited for a show on September 12, 2008 to celebrate the release of Beating a Dead Horse (CD) and DFDVDII.

  • who the hell told you that????

  • Don't you just love Wikipedia..

  • @dfdrox Thats awesome, I never heard about knives out, thats so sick. I'm a huge Alter Boys and DFD fan. Thx for the post

  • Seriously, why is there a pic of SOAD when DFD made this? Just because Serj does guest vocals doesn't mean his pic should be plastered all over this vid, it should have a pic of the actual members and writers of this song, DFD.

  • Anarchists of Good Taste was a great album!!!!!! the orig members were talented, damn nice guys. god i'm gonna go play it out again now =)

  • i thought this was soad. to bad. i guess u can tell by hte keyboard. but u thought serj played keyboard? damn im so confused. so this band is dog fashion disco. guest vocalalist is serj. ok. i get it now. :P

  • serj DOES play keyboad but on this song he was just a guest vocalist

  • No. Serj only contributed vocals to this arrangement. The instruments are played exclusively by members of Dog Fashion Disco.

  • How did they convince Serj to sing for them? i mean.. DFD wasnt that big back then....

  • DOg Fashion Disco best song....=] its hella sick!!!!!!

  • u can tell its not system instrumentals so easily some people are fucking dumb

  • it opens up and i come inside AHAH xD classic.

  • Even though only serj did the vocals, i cant feel think he deserves partial credit, come on, u gotta admit it sound preety damn tight, and i love this guitar style :D

  • This song was written and performed by Dog Fashion Disco. It was on the album Anarchists of Good Taste. That's why this song was "never put on album" because it's on Anarchists of Good Taste. Serj Tankian did guest vocals for it. That one guy was right. No wonder DFD never took off. People don't even know when they are listening to them!

Really, though, saying this is a SOAD song is like saying Survivalism is a Saul Williams song.

  • Its a shame, they sound pretty good.

  • DFD either came from Polkadot Cadaver or a couple of the dudes started PC afterwords

but if your liking this you might like them, its fairly similar

    sorta

  • It's actually the other way around, Polkadot Cadaver came from DFD. DFD started making music in '96, disbanded in '07, and announced Polkadot Cadaver in seemingly the same bulletin.

  • yea this is dog fashion disco, and serj does guest vocals

  • fuckin amazing

  • i wasnt sure but i know its serj by how he said mushroom universe

  • Thank You. It is Serj doing guest vocals for Dog Fashion Disco.

  • this doesn't seem like system of a down's style

it barely sounds like serj singing, and the style of music is all wrong

  • No wonder Dog Fashion Disco never got big like they were supposed to... people don't even know when it's their freaking songs!!

  • Sounds like they're knocking Marilyn Manson. Pretty cool, though.

  • DFD featuring Serj <<

  • Lmao whats serj doing on there?

  • This is indeed by Dog Fashion Disco.

A damn good song by them, too.

  • Yea I know but SOAD has all their songs that they never put on album OR they played a part in the song and they called it Storaged Melodies, and that's the songs I'm putting up, I don't who really made the song . . And SOAD added parts to the song and their obsession with mushrooms, lol

  • you couldnt be more wrong, this song is by DFD featuring Serj Tankian on vocals

    and:

1:Storaged Melodies is a bootleg it´s not official

    2:This sounds nothing like SOAD

  • Yeah, it certainly doesn't sound like a system song... but Serj is still really easy to recognize lol

  • lmfao this is dog fashion disco not system!

  • Dude you dont notice the mushroom lyrics in most of the soad songs? in sugar, or hypnotize?

  • I have noticed(thank god im not alone). In sugar Serj is talking about "kombucha" mushrooms which are apperantly used in tea or related to tea in some fashion. So he's either refering to the chinese, who discovered it's uses, or some other group of people. There songs sure are cryptic though.

  • this is definitely not a soad song, it just features serj

  • weird song:P

dont listen this if you take mushromes xD

    then you go crazy xD

  • shrooms :D

  • this is a dog fashion disco song...serj is just a guest vocalist.

  • Correct sir. From their album "Anarchist of Good Taste".

  • i Love u Chris XoxOXox

  • hahahahahhaha

  • swiming in a sea of sightless gnomes?

  • "Swimming in a sea of cyclostomes"

  • ooooooooh...

  • Don't worry Steeve, I thought it was that too xD

  • no dude i think he says sightless gnomes...

  • its actully cycsclones. I dont know how to spell it. but just look up the lyrics.

  • Should I start putting lyrics in the info box??

  • yes :)

  • Freakin' kick ass Intro!

  • justin you fucking rock i love you for this videos!!!(songs i mean) this is awsome song!

  • Floating in a mushroom universe...-_-

  • yeah! love this song
