I was fortunate enough to sit front row at this show. Most incredible experience i've had. My ticket says it was Sun October 26th 2008. That night he said that the Sanders Theater was one of his most favorite places to play in the country. If you live around the boston area and Leo is playing at the Sanders, your a fool for not going. What a night that was.
I saw him at this venue in 2002 - I think he gets invited there every year - GO TO BOSTON AND SEE/HEAR IT. You will never experience anything remotely like it for the rest of your life. I've listened to his music for years, but live he just takes your heart and brain and sends them to another planet with him as tour guide. Makes the whole awful human species seem okay, if there's one like him among us. LEO FOREVER
Not a surprise, although a joy: How the "Lion" has developed as a composer of pieces for solo guitar. This is what it's about: evoking various emotions and interest while not screaming, "Look at how well I can play!" The message, not the messenger. For achieving that without seeking it, the messenger gets his personal credit many times over. This guy Kottke -- whew! I've met him a couple of times. Warm, shy, quirky. Thanks for posting this clip of a very recent concert.
Kottke concerts are more speech than music. I love it.

Ahhh. I saw him perform this in Olympia, Wa a few years back. Was the first time that I had heard it. Certainly one of his better tunes.
