  • great vid, the music makes me wanna say, go f#ck yourself san diego. haha. anyway, ive been lookin at the jae stock. this looks great though

  • oh lordy lordy. i cant tell you how much i want a rifle like this. if only i had the money.

  • So did your accuracy improve further?

  • @airgreek Yes, the rifle now shoots 1.5" ten shot groups with Federal Gold Medal Match 168s with regularity.

  • Really nice video. Keep em coming.

  • why disable the ratings? This is a great video. There should be more videos like this on YouTube. You told what you had on it, why you had it on it, and your experiences with it. I would +1 if I could

  • @12gaugeTim Thanks for your support! Due to the same two or three people who like to visit, watch, glean/steal information from, and then dislike my videos, it just makes more sense to disable voting. Like you said, I am relaying what I have learned and what my experiences have been, and I go out of my way to show and prove any claims. Guess it doesn't matter if people want to like or dislike it. The views tell the story on whether or not the video is interesting to folks.

  • very nice. This is the direction I want to go with my scout.

  • @CaptainObvious1970 The Scout is a real handy rifle, but in some cases, not quite as accurate as the full size models. For that reason I would get a nice 1-4x scope instead of a higher magnification like I have. That would save a good amount of unnecessary weight and it would make for a nice "Cross Country" rifle that is still capable of hitting a man-sized target at 600 yards.

  • @boricuaDV Hey I recently picked up a springfield M1A aswell and was wondering how you go about installing a bipod? Also if the springfield mounts they sell are reliable / allow co witness with the iron sights? Any information you have would be greatly appreciated.

  • @TNPSentll You can use the picatinny rail shown in the video and a picatinny bipod, or you can use a Harris bipod stud through the vent hole.. I wouldn't recommend either of those options for a USGI fiberglass stock , however, b/c they induce front end flex, which reduces accuracy in the M14 rifle. For a USGI Fiberglass stock Best option would be to drill and tap the stock after the current sling loop location and mount a picatinny rail. Boyd's wood stocks don't flex nearly as much.

  • after all those mods... thats about a $2800-$3100 M1a?

  • @ilovetotones1 ~$2800 as pictured here. I sold off the bipod and no longer run that setup, so ~$2675 invested at this point.

  • @boricuaDV nice... I want to get a M1a for my first rifle or a Kel tec SU-16c

  • @ilovetotones1 Coming from a guy who owns lots of rifles, I think the best choice for a first rifle in a military pattern would be an good AR15. They are very reliable so long as they are lubricated, and they are accurate and easy to shoot well. The M1A is sweet, but it is a very expensive system and also extremely expensive to shoot. If you are in a state that doesn't allow full-fledged AR15s, then the M1A is a good choice, but $1300+ and 50 cents per shot gets pricey!

  • @boricuaDV Thanks for the advice, i belive CT allows most semi rifles just no full auto. I also wanted a AR but because it is such a commond gun I wanted to find something ...something different. (almost like the saying if you can make it in New York you can make it anywhere) well i am looking for my new york rifle if it makes any sense

  • Is there any way to get rails on the bottom of the handguard?

  • @bmx65 To get a rail underneath the front of the stock, you've either got the Versapod, a VLTOR quadrail, a "Rigid Rail Modification," a Troy Chassis system or the SAGE chassis system. If you don't need a rail on the bottom there's also the KAC M14 RAS and the Ultimak system.

  • @boricuaDV Hey thanks man.

  • is this range in st.pete,fla.?

  • @bobsolla Yes, but I think the address is technically Pinellas Park.

  • check out the mcann ind carbon fiber stock when you get a chance.

  • Sweet gun! Great vid

  • Very well done, Thank you.

  • @boricuaDV thanks I'm a dirt shooting type but I hope to go hunting this year so I'm looking into a standard my local gun store has

  • I want to buy a m1 out of the models springfield has what would u recommend for my first m1

  • @carmelomelo69 I'd say a lot depends entirely on what you want to use it for. If carrying it around/hunting is in the cards, then I would go for the Scout. If bench shooting and smaller groups is the goal, then a Loaded or National Match model would be ideal. Those models will be heavy, and not so great for a rifle that will be carried. The Standard model is sort of in between, giving good accuracy with a full length barrel that isn't overly heavy.

  • perfect choice for music on this vid.....porno style sax...nice!

  • is there a folding stock for it?

  • Sweet review and vid. Nice rifle!

  • Sweet setup. I want one just like it.

  • That was a very nice video indeed! I think I'll go the exact same way with my M1A.

  • Nice build, but all that work and detailed commentary without commenting on the group you shot? Were you happy with how it shot, looked like a tight 10" group! :)

  • @guscicles Actually, I DID comment that I was shooting semi-rapid fire with POF ammo from 1980. Accuracy results using Federal Gold Medal match have been posted as a Video Response and is readily available to anyone watching this video.

  • @boricuaDV

I hear you, sorry to poke fun. Checked out the other video, I'd be happy with that group too!

I'm new to the M14, and being your neighbour to the North, most of us here are using Norc's or Poly's.

Would love to put one of my M305's into a DM setup like yours.

  • beautiful system, estimate on the total price, all components included?

  • @temujin451 Thanks! As seen in this video, it came in at around $2800.

  • HEIL to the best rifle made by the US ever!..... the M14.

That stock looks awesome.... i personally preffer a fixed stock one as it doesnt have moving parts and stays absolutely fixed even with the M14´s hard recoil.

But it is just my very personal oppinion... the best rifle and... great stock.

  • Great... now this jingle will be stuck in my head all day.

  • excellent video. love the content, structure, and it just really flows. great presentation

  • hey how did you mount the versa pod rail....i have a brand new sa m1a and im having trouble mounting couse when i pot it on the op rod hits the screw heads on the inside

  • @Dogma517 mine went on without issue, but I did wind up filing down & flattening the screw heads to make sure it wasn't contacting the gas system. Now that I have been shooting this setup, I don't feel it is the best arrangement for a bipod. Even the USGI fiberglass stock flexes due to the pressure from the bipod, and this alters the front band pressure which plays games with your shot groupings. I will keep the rail in place, but I probably won't be using the bipod a whole lot on this rifle.

  • oh, p.s.... nice breaks!

  • Hotness. I don't know why I love the M1A so much (maybe because i have some photos of dad rocking one in as a marine in the 60s... but maybe not. I just think it has inherent sex appeal. I also like the VLTOR far more than the SAGE stocks...the McCann also seems cool)

Do you happen to know total gun weight with the scope/stock/bipod compared to previous stock setup? You may have mentioned it but i missed it while ogling.

  • @ceounicom I don't have an accurate weight of the rifle, but it is just a tad lighter than the original setup i was running. the VLTOR M14 Modstock is actually lighter than the Boyd's wood stock.

  • how wide is that target? i have a hard time telling in the video. beautiful rifle by the way!!!

  • @lphiljipl The orange circle is 6 inches, each grid square is 1 inch x 1 inch. The rifle is now shooting an honest 1.5 MOA with Match ammo.

  • @boricuaDV Wait, if you have the H&R USGI trigger group, doesn't that make it full auto capable? Also, how much does the gun, in your setup, weigh? Can you use the iron sights at all with your scope mount? I'd like to see a stock system with the same stock/pistol grip as yours, but with a more Sage-like collapsing buttstock with adjustable cheekpiece instead of the AR style with cheekpiece.

  • @ImWatchinTheTube In the case of the M14, the trigger group alone does not have full auto capability. It needs a selector and linkage, as well as a different receiver. As far as legalities are concerned, the receiver itself would be considered the machine gun. My setup allows use of irons, but I would need to adjust the stock comb down to use them.

  • I always have loved to look at your vids. the production is excellent. Keep them coming.

  • awesome video! m14 is my first pick on the list of "wanna get" m1A is my second your gun is so nicely set up! i think ill keep mine iron. what range are you on? that range is a beauty! the range i shoot at is so hillbilly you gotta keep at least one loaded on your hip.

  • How much was the fully upgraded platform?

  • @NeB609 Money, money, money...what's wrong with you people? ;) It's ~ $2.8K completely decked out.

  • @boricuaDV I really like what you did with it btw

  • @boricuaDV I really like what you did with it btw.

  • @boricuaDV I really like what you did with it.

  • Niceeeeee, love the video

  • Very very nice send me 2 need my address

  • @TheOriginalDecider Thanks for the advanced notice, which will be used against you as intent to commit copyright fraud. We'll see WHO gets WHAT jammed WHERE! Since you obviously don't understand the nature of video copyright law, this will be a nice crash course for you, and for that, I hope your job is compensating YOU handsomely :)

  • @boricuaDV

I'm afraid transformative works and parody are EXCEPTIONS to applicable copyright statutes. Meaning I can use your video and you can't do ANYTHING about it.

Additionally, "intent" is not an element necessary to prove copyright infringement (INFRINGEMENT, not "fraud").

So far you're zero for two on your understanding of copyright law.

  • You've no idea how this works, apparently. Your YouTube account won't last long enough for you to get a fanbase, let alone edit a video! Your threats and intentions have been outlined and reported. I hope you have a good lawyer lined up. You will need it!

  • @boricuaDV wrote, "Your YouTube account won't last long enough for you to get a fanbase, let alone edit a video! Your threats and intentions have been outlined and reported. I hope you have a good lawyer lined up."

Is that why you removed your comment in which you called me a pussy? Rather cowardly of you.

I edit video on my computer with my software.

A good lawyer? A dullard 1L will roll you up.

Just tell your fans that re-posting means less $ for you from YouTube advertising.

  • @boricuaDV Don't waste your time with these ffols is probably a guy who's mommy didn't love him or didn't loved him much and they 're angry at the world. And most likely an anti-gunner who hates guns. Nice vid btw.

  • @TheOriginalDecider Wow, talk about being a fool! What you don't know is that millions of dollars on these cases are spent each year and the results are not always the same across the board. If you wish to walk the line with boricuaDV, have fun! You will probably waste tens of thousands in your legal defense and then be forced to pay up bigtime. And to think you just got your account today. I don't think you'll last very long here.

  • sorry if its a stupid question but can that gold coating on the gas piston be applied to a bolt?

on an SR556 if it matters

  • @CaliforniaXlivin your SR556 should come with a hard chrome bolt carrier group. I'm not sure if Titanium Nitride can be applied to chrome, but it would be redundant. The hard chrome is already providing you all of the same benefits that the titanium nitride coating would.

  • springfield armory scopes or nc star

  • What do you think of the McMillan M1A with the MFS-14 stock? I'm new to the M-14, but really want to buy one because I hear nothing but good things about them. It's listing for $2799 on their website, but I'm sure I could get it cheaper.

  • Awesome review, also one great looking rifle.

  • Excellent review.

  • That springfield is fucking beautiful!!!!!!!

  • what is the best scope mount for the m1a

  • @awesomefableable Depends on how you want to mount it, but the best receiver mounts are Smith Ent., Sadlak, A.R.M.S. (#18) and the Bassett, in no particular order.

  • @boricuaDV What would be the best mounting type (IE stripper removal, SOCOM front rail etc) For an Eotech?

  • @poik12 If you don't have a scout mount on your rifle. then I would say the best option might be an Ultimak M8 rail. I would compare the weights of the Ultimak to that of a side mount and choose whichever one weighs less. If you're using an Eotech, you probably want the rifle to be as lightweight and quick-handling as possible. That's how I'd approach it...

  • @boricuaDV

Come on man! An almost 10:00 minute video about improving the accuracy of the gun and then at the end you shoot 3 decade old shit Pakistani ammunition ?!?

Have you not shot 20 or 40 or 60 rounds of match-grade in the six months since you posted this video?

Can't you shoot some additional footage of you shooting some match-grade ammunition through this rifle and chop out the old footage and insert the new.

Absurd ending to an otherwise good video.

    Hiding no accuracy improvement?

  • @TheOriginalDecider Everything will be easier on your pretty little head when you learn how to use YouTube. YES, I did post the accuracy results. There is a Video Response posted to this video, or if you took the extra 2 seconds to click on my user name, OR if you looked at the related videos list on the side, OR if you searched for videos using my user name, you would have found it. You see where this is going. Please, take the 2 seconds to find what you are looking for!

  • Part 1 of 2

    @boricuaDV

What my very pretty little head was hoping for is basic competence - a standard you're obviously not able to meet. You go on and on and on about changing out parts to improve accuracy and reliability, and then use thirty year old Pakistani ammunition at the end of the video. What was the demonstrated accuracy after your "improvements" - about 10 MOA? Awesome!

You're either too lazy or incompetent to simply re-edit the video after firing quality ammunition.

  • Part 2 of 2

    @boricuaDV

An even moderately competent video would show the results of the accuracy improvements at the end of the almost 10:00 video in which they were featured. What's the matter sweet pea, couldn't you afford 20 rounds of Black Hills? Did you have to save your pennies to finally purchase some decent ammunition and then you were just too lazy to re-edit your video. It's a half-assed finish to the video and you know it. Go searching through your other videos?

    NO THANKS.

  • @TheOriginalDecider looks like you just signed up for YouTube today. I agree with boricuaDV. It sounds like you have no idea how to navigate here and you are frustrated. The guy who made this video has been putting shooting videos on this site since this site was invented. If you have something better to offer than his body of work which lots of people subscribe to, then we'd all love to see it. It's a matter of "put up or shut up."

  • @TheOriginalDecider What a dumb shit. Close to ten thousand views, 48 likes, 0 dislikes. Many likes on the comments praising this video. I think the public has spoken, and you are just someone with a grudge against boricuaDV. You must be that cheesedick from On Point Firearms! Hahahahaha...

  • great video, quality, sound, and explaining everything. set a standard for rifle videos, epically m1a. wanting to make my own. yours is the standard though

  • hmm i wonder if nutnfancy has seen this

  • What is the stock of this rifle made from? Wood or plastic?

  • @StiviGun1 It's a modified USGI Fiberglass stock.

  • @boricuaDV OK, and how much does the rifle weigh? How much lighter is it compared to a one with wooden stock?

  • 13.5 lbs with an empty magazine and all the kit installed. The VLTOR stock is indeed lighter than the wood one.

  • @boricuaDV 13.5 lbs. Aha, so that fiberglass stock does reduce the rifle's weight by quite a lot, doesn't it? OK, that's what I wanted to know, thanks.

  • I wish all gun reviews look like this - what ppl don't usually put, amazingly, are group shots.

I daresay you're giving even Mack Machowicz from future weapons a run for his money. Cheers

  • @atf343 Thanks buddy. For what it's worth, I have posted a separate video with the best groups I obtained that day. I've got some more reloads and intend to do the same once I see the results from those loads.

  • I like the gun. Nice setup. The video was well put together and you def know what your talking about. Well done and keep it up.

  • That Sir is one beautiful rifle.

  • What length is that Harris bipod, 9-13?

  • @pbstarkiller Yep, that's 9-13". It's perfect off the bench and prone with the legs set at 9" and for uneven terrain or unconventional positions it still gives you some lattitude.

  • Very nice video production, and your rifle looks great, too. FYI, VLTOR is pronounced "ull-toor", not "vee-el-toor". The V is a U sound. It is a title attributed to Mars, the Roman God of War, which means "avenger".

  • that is a very well put together setup you've got. I've always liked the vltor modstock over all the other recent stocks made for the m14, i'm pretty sure it's the lightest out there. I'm really on the fence between a setup like this and a Kel Tec RFB.

  • Awesome video Eric. Well put together and extremely accurate, much like the M1A itself. Kudos.

  • This is an extremely well made video with alot of good insight. I noticed you shoot at the Wyoming range, which is about 20 minutes from my house. Very good work and hope to see more in the future.

  • @chanderson1 Thanks for the feedback! Indeed, that's the Wyoming Antelope Club. Now that they have abolished the single shot rule, it is a lot more fun to shoot out on the 100 yard range! I plan to do even more shooting there moving forward.

  • @boricuaDV They must have just done that recently. I was there last month and nobody mentioned it. Anyways, keep up the great work!

  • where do you live

  • is this stock legal in California

  • @slashgrass I'm not a lawyer and I am not 100% sure about Cali laws, but I would think that if you had this stock on your rifle in California that you would also need to design & install a "bullet button" so that the mags are not readily detachable. I say that b/c I don't think anyone makes an M1A "bullet button."

  • @slashgrass Its legal here in Canada, surely it would be legal for you guys.

  • I've had a few problems of shells not extracting with my SOCOM 16. I was using American Eagle ammunition. Where did you buy the USGI extractor? Also, is it an easy install, or should I go to a gunsmith to get it done?

  • Real nice set up you got there. I have been planning on getting a high precision rifle, and a M1A was on my list of possibility.

  • @xxSURExxSHOTxx While M14s are accurate, they are "relatively" accurate for a full power semi-auto. They will never be able to compete with the precision of a bolt action rifle, and they were never meant to. It's better to think of these as accurate semi-autos capable of putting lots of rounds downrange, instead of as a "precision" rifle. As long as you know what to expect, you won't be disappointed.

  • Awesome!!

Modernized M14s are where it's at.

    Visit The M14HDW Forum

  • Oooops! I hear the SOCOM calling me from the safe ;D

  • @1AbominAble1 Every now and then a girl needs some new clothes! ;)

  • Beautiful rifle!!!! This is by far the best M1A video that vie seen on the tube, nicely done and very informative. I learned about parts for mine that I didn't even know existed. Too bad I sold off my NM but it's ok, I hear the SO

  • I really like that adjustable comb feature. More rifles need to do that!

  • Awsome gun!

  • Noice!!!

  • now that bad ass tight

  • Man you need Youtube partnership! Another EXCELLENT video. High quality on everything all the way through!!!

  • @eXdXgXe4life Thank you so much for your comments. I feel this is probably the best video on firearms I have ever made to date. As for YouTube partnership, I would not do it. Google (who owns YouTube) has anti-gun policies in their AdWords program. They hate uns on one hand and want to make money off them on the other. They can eat it. A man has to stick to his principles. The only thing worse than a man who doesn't stick to his principles is a man who doesn't have any. I do it for you guys...

  • haha, i bet you'll get a ton of Butthurt from M-14 purists who think you should NEVAR EVAR mod you gun (they are like the AK purist retards). Nice mods, i use that VLTOR stock on my LWRC. I've been looking between the M14/M1 or the SVD for a Designed Marksman rifle, still trying to make up my mind between the two

  • @DaytonaRoadster LOL! It's only been to the range once, but I'm sure that'll happen sooner or later! One guy opened his mouth about my AK one time and I made an ass out of him in front of everybody. Most purists are people who are stuck in 1960, and either have no need for, or can't afford to bring their rifles into the modern age. That's THEIR problem. I need what I need! :-) As for M14 vs SVD, that's a tough call. Vastly different, plus the price differences...

  • @boricuaDV ya i know, the SVD is much cheaper, and the ammo is dirt cheap too, but the M14 has more parts and would most likely shoot better. Also i could consider the FN FAL...ugh, so many choices

  • @DaytonaRoadster Yep, you're absolutely right. I went through that whole process. In the end, the M14 is the most accurate of the .308 Battle Rifles, and I wanted something that was accurate, could reach out, and still had lots of ammo on tap. The M14 is the best choice for that combination, in my opinion.

  • @boricuaDV well that helps me with my decision
