the phrase he sings at :22 sounds like he's desperate, in pain, and just at a loss of words (no pun intended) over his inability to find 'the girl'....you can feel it in that phrase alone, and that's hard to do.

I really don't like this song. I saw the show, and I have to admit that he wasn't my favorite throughout the whole thing. I really like him on the recording and my friends all swear he was sick the night we went and saw it, but I didn't think he was on the level of the rest of the cast. This is good, but like I said, I really never thought much of this song. Kind of random filler stuff.
I loved all the technical stuff they had to do to make it seem under water and everything, but ur right, he wasnt the best...i thought the young boy that played "Flounder" was AMAZING, for being his age.

lol....I'm there with you guys...it's funny but casting directors seem to be going for the "look" even more than they used to...they are letting up on quality, and i'm not saying thhis guy is bad...he is a standard Tenor and i'm sure he would be fantasmic in a choir...

I kind of wish they'd cast a baritone as Eric. I think it would have made him sound more princely and regal, but still be able to have some good high notes. Oh well. Tenors are taking over Broadway anyway lol.

I really love HIS voice... I play this song in my room all the time... It's driving my focks crazy haha... owh I would really want to see this... but I live in the Netherlands... I hope that it will come on DVD soon

if he had a faster vibrato he would sound quite a bit like norbert. i agree though, norbert's voice is much sexier:) i LOVE his vibrato.
but sean is amazing none-the-less!!

If you look at his forehead, you can see his microphone! Its so cool! Man I really want to see this, but the only professional plays I have seen are Les Miserables and Evita and my sister was in Evita so I got a free ticket, and Les Miserables, I was only 6. So I dont remember it very well... OMGOSH I WANT TO SEE THIS MUSICAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol....I'm there with you guys...it's funny but casting directors seem to be going for the "look" even more than they used to...they are letting up on quality, and i'm not saying thhis guy is bad...he is a standard Tenor and i'm sure he would be fantasmic in a choir...

so the fact that this guy works all the time is owing to his looks? some people on here say he's ass ugly. what do you look like? do you have a hard time getting work because you're not physically attractive? I'm confused why you seem to know so much about the business as a whole. you know more than the casting directors, the directors, the producers who hire actors time and time again?

This topic has apparently hit a sore spot for you...sry but if you can't deal with the facts that Broadway is as much looks if not more then you need to look for another business to go into. And if youare not going into the business then don't worry yourself with stuff like this. Any one will say the same thing about having a whole package. Vocal quality doesn't have to be as good anymore. Did you watch The Search for the New Elle Woods?

I can't even address someone who watches that garbage. I have 15 years as a broadway vet. I know the score thank you. You just seem particularly self righteous so I thought it was worth responding but it's a waste of energy. I'm done.

Good! If you're done then i can continue on with my observations. Congrats on being a 'vet of Broadway'. What videos do you have posted? Let's hear how great you are! I would love to see how you would react to a critic of one of your performances. Stick to doing what ever you are doing because it is working for you. I will stick to doing what I am doing. May our paths never cross in the world of Broadway.

I kind of wish they'd cast a baritone as Eric. I think it would have made him sound more princely and regal, but still be able to have some good high notes. Oh well. Tenors are taking over Broadway anyway lol.
