The Huey is a great bird and saved a lot of American lives in Vietnam. I love the unique rotor thud of the Huey.....doesn't sound like any other aircraft in the world.
I love the sound of the Huey helicopter. A few years back one flew overand it sounded awesome. It make a distictive sound. All the helicopters these days are quiet without the loud banging sound of the rotors revolving. No helicopter sounds as good as the Huey.
Grew in South Alabama near Fort Rucker. Can remember these sounds daily when in high school in '65 guys were learning to fly these things to go to Viet Nam.
can u imagine being under fire surounded thinking ur going to die then hearing that sweet noise of hueys in the distance flying low taking fire to get u out of the hell hole ur in
the marines have the UH-1N hueys and AH-1W cobras. currently replacing them with the Yankee model huey and zulu model cobra. Only the army droped the hueys for blackhawks. AF still uses them for flight school at Ft Rucker and a few units (like in DC) and navy has some for SAR.

The huey has two blades, yet so does the jet ranger and the bell 222 yet they dont sound the same. the 222 comes close but its just not the same as the huey. This might just be cause of the width of the blades?
