This trick totally worked on my dog. Obviously like any other dog he kept licking but he soon got the idea that I expected more than just the licking. What also helped was when I kept my hand little away from his body so he had to reach by his hand!

I trained my dog to do this when he was 5 months old. I had not treats or experience how to train. I said "high five" and tapped his paw. I did this repeatedly until he understood what I met. I then stuck out my hand to him and said "high five" and he did it to me!

Thanks for this video! I just taught my pug it today! The only different thing is that when I put the treat in my fist near her face she did not paw it. So, i did that but also put a string behind her front leg and would pull it so she would touch my hand. Eventually i removed the string and she began to do it herself. Thanks so much!

I tried doing this, but when my dog saw that the treats were coming from my jacket pocket, she just put 2 and 2 together and stuck her nose in there.
