LOL !!! Really though, beautiful blade ! You could pry the hatch off a tank with that thing ! Believe it or not, I just purchased a FSH earlier today. I'll post a video of it, when it arrives. See ya.
@torquefactory To be honest I never wear down my blades enough in one sitting to really know. Honing a blade regurlarly requires less work and maintenance than letting it go dull, also lengthens the life. If I was to give an educated guess 3V Has the best edge no question. way above the others. As to Infi and A2.. too close to tell about edge. Maybe A2 is a bit better. They are all tough enough :) INFI is no question a tough steel, so is 3V. They all work well is the answer :)
If that Sar4 had just a decent choil instead of that silly elf choil, I think it'd be perfect. It would then be like the Peacemaker with just that extra bit of blade....perfect!
My bad then. The video looks like the SAR is sort of between the Peacemaker and Last Chance in size to me. I like its smaller blade. Too bad it's so heavy at nearly 15oz.
@ayokay123 the SAR4 is Damn near Identical to the Last Chance in Weight, length.. everything. Camera Angles might make it look different. They are both 15OZ knives. both heavy duty MOFO's hehe.. The peacemaker is TINY in relation. PM me your email address and I can show you a photo
Yep.. Although. I spent $25 to reshape the handle and now the LC feels better and works better. so its still $150US cheaper and high quality.. Dont be scared to modify a knife I say! :) The LC is a wilderness beast.. I'll be getting a peacemaker soon.. a more refined knife about the size of a BRK Fox River.
I would actually prefer the Fehrman, I've got smaller hands, smaller fingers, and it just looks as if it would hold my hands better. I also prefer the larger blade on the Fehrman. Another thing, that I personally consider, is cost, and I can pick up a brand new Fehrman for about $250, direct from their website. The Busse I've seen no cheaper than $300, and you almost have to hunt for them, or custom order one. There is something (in my opinion) to be said about customer service.
Well.. 1.. the smaller your hands.. the worse a big handle will fit you.. you will be grasping to hold it :D
I agree the ferhman is good value.. but its $280 for the satin no sheath.. compared with this one can be had satin $327.. not that much different.
as far as service.. Price or Availablily does not make service good.. How they deal with you after you buy it is what makes them good.. Both companies are excellent.. Busse are an amazing company..
I've got gloves and tape, I can make my hand fit the handle one way or another. Maybe I shouldn't have said customer service, but more along the lines of easy of availability. The one edge I would give to Busse is product line, they've got plenty of models to choose from all the way from the Battle Mistress to the Tank Buster, and in my opinion more options is never a bad thing.
I agree about their methods of selling, but according to some sources they are brining in about three million annually. That's not exactly that bad for a company with 30 employees that only makes semi-custom knives. The only thing is, I wish they would make a larger batch, and then sell them with maybe 500 at the time, or 100 at the time or whatever, it's just annoying to have to wait and check and call, over and over.
As a guy who's carried and used knives for over 30 years, I can say without a doubt Busses are the best knives available. Period. I own several now, and know first-hand they will withstand an absolutely AMAZING amount of abuse.
Busses are not unobtainable by any stretch of the imagination, and Busse's customer service from what I've seen is great.
The biggest complaint I've seen against Busse really has to do with how they market and sell their products.
I Agree.. its the marketing that drives people crazy.. its not that they are unobtainable. its that no particular model is accessible at retail prices all the time. I don't know if they are the best I've got.. I love em, but I sure haven't put any to the test. I love my Scrofa and Sar4LE both.
cool, i removed the handles allready. my next question is how do i put the handles back on? i had to grind off the studs so i need to know where to get new ones.
If you want the same Tubes, you can order them, and you need a special tool to press them in.. goto busse on bladeforums and post a question.. or.. just order some removeable pins like fehrman use so you can take them off again :D
to remove the coating, the fastest easiest way is to use paint stripper that you coat all overit. If you are able to take the handles off first that is better. dont get paint stripper on the handles.. it may melt them.. Thats why i did the blade only..
I would like to say, that in these 2 knives, while I find the SAR4 more comfortable. The LC is definately allround a better performer for me.. Better slicer, sharper, cleaner cutting. Its just that the handle is only comfortable on the LC for Short periods of time because of my hand size. So the busse wins at a personal level. But as i said, in the middle of nowhere, the Busse may be easier to maintain. easier to resharpen. etc etc. The FIT an Finish on both is exceptional.
first it have to be a decent bushcrafter.. but yes I think it would do well at bushcraft with limits. maybe overbuilt. I think they have nameded it well. SEARCH & RESCUE 4" its a blade you would take to the bush or anywhere for heavy duty fast response duties where you need a blade capable of anything including prying a door off. (yes even if you break the knife) to save a life. Both these blades are versatile goliaths
Awesome Busse ! On your next vid, let's see ya stab a 55 gallon steel drum with it !

@CladCoin I have a great Idea.. you buy the knife from me for cost + shipping and I can watch you stab a 55 gallon drum.. :)

Hi Kyley, how is INFI comparing to 3V,or A2 regarding toughness and edge retention.I saw that it is very good in corrosion !
Nice job you do with your knives!

Excellent points on the ergonomics of the Last Chance. I was concidering one - now I'm not. Ergos are VERY important to me - being a user.
Like that Busse, though.

yep.. or for a modest fee send it bto ranger knives and reshape the handle. still a good price.
being available is a goos thing. i hate the selling method of busse, but it works for them

Hey, I'm sure you will love the Sar 4.. you might want someone to thing out the convex a bit.. but you will enjoy it.

both are good knives, my vote goes to the ferhman just because of the flat ground blade.
