  • hornist straight 6 i ever see

  • Big question ... i have a 235...solid lifters..all stock..gonna put a split exhaust..should.. i go with the... 2 two barrels..2 single barrels..or the 4 barrel...

  • @Bellefeuille66 I actually found the Hamburger oil pan on eBay. It was in Alaska, so it took a while to get to me, but it's a pretty nice pan !

  • WHERE DID YOU GET THAT OIL PAN!? I NEEEEEDDDD ONE BIG TIME!! PLEASE REPLY!!!!!

  • damn, just love the old inline sixes. I used to have a Ford 300, it was great.

  • How much horsepower would you estimate? I notice you choose the HEI ignition. With 10.5 comp. on pump gas what timing could you run. Nice Job, well thought out.

  • That is just... Nasty! I Love It! 6=8

  • sounds good

  • How much was the cost on the build up? I must of watch it bout ten times now

  • That would look great in my 63 nova ss

  • At what engine speed do you deliver max torque and max horsepower. It takes a lot of six to use up 750cfm but I think this combination can. Thanks for posting.

  • YAAYYYYHHHH!!!! Great vid!!!

  • First time I watched this it was on a mute computer, so I had no idea how fast your engine gained revs with just a little bit of a goose. That's unnatural. Impressive. My compliments. Hope you don't skimp on the drive axle. Chevy-6 torque plus the quickness you've built in = BREAKING stuff like the old 348 used to do. Best regards.

  • @TheSonofmydad I'm using an aluminum flywheel (15 lbs.), a Centerforce dual friction clutch and pressure plate, and have a Richmond 5 speed with the 3:28 low gear and a Ford 9". It's going in a revised project, a 47' Diamond T pu. Thanks

  • Hi, awesome chevy 292, I want to build one similiar to yours as well, I have two questions. The clifford manifold-is this an older manifold, I asked because I don't see any hoses to warm up the fuel like the new clifford manifolds they sell? do you prefer the older clifford manifolds? also can you tell me the difference on using a four barrel carb or two barrel carb on an inline for more power and torque? I'm getting two differnt opinions on the subject? where can I get that timing cover?

  • Bigger badder brother of the Holden 6 :)

  • @toranacar

When I was an apprentice I worked just 300 metres from one of Adelaide's grocer's markets. Lot's of the trucks they used had this 292 "Mex Chev" six. Bedfords & Internationals & stuff.

I always used to wonder how it'd go in an LC/J Torana... & whether it'd fit.

Probably be a nice towing cruiser in an HQ Statesman maybe.

  • @paspax would be cool in an LJ

  • @TheBigSkillet If it were just like it it wouldn't be better, now would it? Yes all three were better. Two had hybrid heads and the other used an aluminum Deppe head... not that you'd know what any of those are. All used dual carbs except for the one with the turbocharger.

  • Log style, single carb intake... hmm. Oh well, at least it's easy.

  • @20alphabet Not sure what you meant by that comment. I guess you were referring to the Clifford intake and Holley being off the shelf items. My dad actually has a plenum that he built that has a plate that has 3 interchangeable lids and it's water heated. It is set up to run 3 two barrels, 2 four barrels, or a single four barrel. I have pictures that I can show of that setup if you'd like to see them.

  • how about timing? inicial and total, I have a similar combo, congrats!

  • @SuperInline6 Initial timing was 14 degrees, total was around 36 degrees. It hasn't been run much. Mostly just to break the camshaft in. It's a .231dur/.565lift Engle.

  • @TheBigSkillet Thanks!

  • Nice motor boys. Sounds awesome. Check out my giant killer robot vids.

  • i wish my 250 in my nova ran like that

  • where did you get that carb from?

  • sweet motor!

  • i wish i had a smaller truck to put my 292 in mines in a 4x4 chevy truck

  • Quite an inspiring engine. Where can I get information on how to build one? The main thing that is a problem for me is knowing how to identify all of the different variations on the Chevy six. I would not know a 235 from a 292 if they were both infront of me. There are many good how to books for the SBC V8 but I know of no how to books for a complete newbie that wants to build a six. I don't want to end up buying 10 engines to learn what to do the hard way!

  • What does this do for Horse and torque?

  • damnit boy, that sounds great!!! any more vids of it running?

  • oops i mean inline 6

  • i never knew those old school v6 were so tiny

  • @oevoz--Haha ! I hope it was an accident ! Then again, some people just don't know "COOL" when they see, and hear it !

  • those are roundy-round track headers

  • Where did you get your engine stand? Better yet, can you please send me the measurements so I can make my own? Your assistance will be greatly appreciated!

    -tacptaco

  • @tacptaco1--It's just a home-made engine run stand, set up to accept many different engines. It's had SBC's on it, inline 6's, and big Caddy's on it. My dad's cousin built it MANY years ago to run engines and break in camshafts. Much easier to work on an engine IF you have any kind of problems pop up while running it to break in the cam.

  • Damn, nice headers!

Props to you on being different and building a six that idles like a badass!

  • WHERE DID YOU GET THOSE HEADERS???? I COULD USE A SET LIKE THAT FOR MY BOAT

  • @dieselrider69--Sorry for the late response. Those were built by a company named Schoenfeld. They no longer make that style header. Your best bet would be to find a pair that an old dirt tracker has had forever and wants to sell them for a large pile of money, or someone that has them and doesn't know what they have and puts them on eBay, or something similar. Good luck !!

  • That is a sweet 6!

  • How much hp and torq is it making?

  • It's a hot motor, and the cam isn't so wild. Hom much HP? I have a similar combo here in Brazil.

  • I love it "great sound " been wanting to build one my self might as well start with a bigger 292? even in a 3500 lb car a combo like that would be fun

  • Sweeeet!!!

  • Thats the most beutiful thing ive ever seen in my life.. wish that was goin in my 66 Chev

  • man that sounds good

  • Ooooooh. So nice. Love the headers.

  • hi i have a 292 also in a 50 chevy with a t5 and 3.73 posi..i have a twin turbo set up for it and a 780 holley.. i wanted to ask what would be the best cam or other things i can do to make it run good with that set up i have? thanks

  • what a beast !!!! impresive !!!! that would be nice in a S10 pick up or a early nova.

  • lol that thing is fucking pissed off

  • How about procharge or turbo on that little monster and drop it in my dragtser chassis or tube chassis Chevette?....with a powerglide.......and about 2200 pounds or less.....freak! iam getting interested on the idea!!!

  • @YourpainRx That would be a pretty wild ride ! It would take some good tuning and REALLY GOOD gas because it's 10:1 compression ratio !!

  • @CrashdArtwerks

Machine the pistons - compression sorted. New head bolts, etc and it'd be fine to be turbo'd - its all forged already isnt it? So should be no problems. Although if i were to go down that route i'd have injection over a carb - blow through system.

  • hey, i was wondering could you post the price list(if its ok). Im 14 and in australia and i came across a 292 at a mates farm, used in a beford truck. And i was wondering what power they could produce on a budget and parts from australia?

  • what cfm carb is that? Also is that a clifford intake?

  • @hulk625 It's a 750 vac secondary Holley and yes, it is a Clifford intake.

  • Hello, in which car will be used this engine ? I'm from Brazil and found it very interesting, thanks.

  • @AleROAZ........Hi ! I'm glad you liked it ! It will go in a 1937 Ford pickup.

  • Hell yeah!

  • Yeah man, I can't wait to get this thing dropped in the '37 Ford pickup with a Richmond 5 speed behind and tear some tires up !!

    Thanks !

  • @CrashdArtwerks What is the horse and torque on that? I have a 292 that I'm wanting to hop up like what you've done. The cam I've found is close to the one you have, it's .540 lift and 310 duration. I like what you have done. If you don't mind, would you give me some information and advice on what to do with mine?

  • @myrabbitmoose--It's estimated to be around 450 horse, and 500 ft lbs. These engines have a lot of stroke, so they produce GOBS of torque.

The head has had the head bolt bosses cut out and been lump ported and flowed, and has 1.75 roller rockers. It's got J&E forged pistons, with around 10-10.5:1 compression. It has a custom made ATI Super Dampner harmonic balancer. The camshaft specs are 231 @ .050 duration and .565 lift. These engines need a good head, cam and intake/carb.

  • @CrashdArtwerks Thank you so much. Do you think it would be too much to supercharge it? That's what I really want to do. What size and kind of valves do you have in it? Also, I've heard that 292 cranks are forged, is that true or would I have to get one that is? I looked on the J&E website and couldn't find anything for 292s. Thank you for your help.

  • Big thumbs up for doing something different, and doing it well. I'm sick and tired of seeing V8 crate engines with automatic transmissions behind them.
