Can I give you some humble advice Jon. I'm a big fan of your work, but when you decide to get people's reaction to something as huge as Avatar. It might be a good idea to get other people besides your friend's opinion. Also, I know of plenty of people that for some odd reason or one other that just plain didn't like the movie. I would try and get more pros and cons. Overall great vid, but theres always rooms for improvement.
seriously are you fucking retarded or something!!!!!? Do you not know who James Cameron is!? You think its a stretch for him to make a scifi film...man you dumb...you might want to do your research before making an ass of yourself on youtube
Cameron as always pushed the envelope in effects T2, titanic even true lies was mad that's when he started to try and make effects that you DIDN'T notice . I can't wait for this movie
ive been looking at a few different vids on this movie on youtube, wtf is all of this fuckin negativity?most of these haters are in that insecure bubble of "its cool dislike shit" which has been the new text comment trend. so gay, i cant wait there hasnt been much to be excited about in hollywood for years now, w star wars ep1 having fans thinking this was gonna set a new standard for sci fi was just f'd up by Lucas although ep 3 was watchable, seems now everyone must hate shit before they see it.
You're very, very right. It gets old so fast - people think it is funny and makes them look like a hardass to hate on something they know little to nothing about. The american way, I suppose. I guess none of these people have seen ALIEN, considering that was also a James Cameron super-scifi masterpiece.
when the teaser came out i was really suprised that alot of people on here were really negative about, even going as far to say that it looked like a PS1 cutscene. Like...what? They were probably going in negative or just trolling but I thought it was amazing, if nt perfect.
Then I saw the 15 minute preview with my friends.
Holy. Shit.
The CGI was transparent, I kid you not guys. It looks like Cameron literally just shot some real blue people talking in a real jungle. It was incredible.
James Cameron is the best sci-fi filmmaker today. What am I saying? He's the BEST FILMMAKER today. I don't care what anyone says about his dialogue... James Cameron, the director is hard to beat. Alfred Hitchcock would feel like a kindergarten student right now. I bet you anything.
I saw the footage also and it blew my F****** BRAINS OUT!.
IT WAS BEAUTIFUL! ESPECIALLY THAT SCENE AT NIGHT WHEN EVERYTHING IN THE SORROUNDING START TO GLOW LIKE NEON COLORS, THE LEAVE, THE FLOWERS, THE WATER, EVEN THE INSECTS.
BREATHTAKING!
THIS MOVIE IS GOING TO BE BIGGGG!!!
AND I BET THE STORY WILL BE GREAT. CAMERON DOES NOT WANT TO REVEAL ANY OF THE PLOT, HES SAVING THAT FOR THE MOVIES. :-)
Wasn't that amazing?? You're right about them getting past the uncanny valley thing. I think part of it was trickery, which is fine. They look JUST non-human enough (eyes far apart, etc) that your brain just abandons the IDEA of them trying to look like human beings. Not once did I think I was watching the "corpse puppet" effect. And you're right, unlike ANYTHING ever made. People dissing the trailer MUST see it in 3d before passing judgment. It's IMMERSIVE cinema. A first.
Not just because it was in 2D. The trailer was badly put, the editing was odd, it had no dialogue and FOREMOST many shots were work in progress. It's a shame to see how negative the reaction is to the trailer compared to the Avatar Day preview which reaction is VERY positive. Anyway back on the uncanny valley topic, they spent 14 months to rig the Na'vi and the motion capture system for the face is able to capture 100% of the performance so it's got to look good...
But there were two side opinion when the trailer came out. Check out the Avatar IMDB board. There were hating & loving reaction from what they were saw.
I hope it's not going to be like another Speed Racer. It's really great but too much negative reactions too. Please don't make a good movie destroy by the basher again please.
Too bad. The preview that i seen it's not on IMAX but it's still on good 3D. So for my thoughts I hope this is going to be The Dark Knight of 2009. And I can't wait until December 17 for this in IMAX.
I'm from thailand, I already seen the Avatar footage last night. I think this is gonna groundbreaking movie of 2009. And the CG in this is really FUCKING A. It's really worthy waiting for this in 12 years. 12 years in the making .... for this. Make me feel that James Cameron decdicate his 12 years to try to make the new whole dimension for the motion picture. I'm totally super dooper respect him.
I'm really looking forward to seeing this. Too bad I missed the Avatar Day preview. However I did totally fangasm at the teaser. So yeah, now I have to wait for the darn thing to come out in December. That's a lot of waiting. Well, it looks like it'll be worth it. Also, as for James Cameron directing a sci-fi movie being unusual, well, he made Titanic, but he also made the Terminator and Aliens. So it's not that far off. But I guess he's known for Titanic, so it's not that big of a deal.

Um, correction, Jon. Alien was Ridley Scott's masterpiece and Aliens was James Cameron's masterpiece.

Ah damn, did I leave out the S? You are correct, sir!

Jon, I'm just joshin' with you. It really makes no difference. I can't wait to see Avatar.
LukeLovesRose 2 years ago
Actually, Cameron's Aliens is the SF masterpiece of utmost perfection - even beyond Scott's Alien. ;)

"Star wars" genuis.
I should have gone to Avatar day, but I don't have IMAX in my town.
InTheEnd75 2 years ago
You didn't need to. You could've watched it at any 3-D theater. Over here was in an XpanD,

I dont have a 3D theater in my town

Too bad. Anywhere near?
You most certainly should NOT view this film in a normal 2D theater.

I usually go out of town to see a 3d movie, but i'm definitly not going to miss out on this.

Its going to be different, thats for sure - but the 3D was amazing, you guys. When this comes out, you HAVE to see it in 3D!!!
