In California, 1/8 Black or 1/8 Asian meant you were legally Black or Asian, and suffered all the legally restrictions against nonwhites. In Louisiana 1/32 Black meant you were Black. That could deny your right to vote or own land. Barack Obama was born in 1961 at time when most Black Americans were still denied there U.S. Constitutional.
