  • Good song, crap recording equipment!

    keep rockin mate! \m/

    Thanks for the comment

  • very nice, the style and spirit of the song is about perfect.

  • Very kind. Thanks.

  • is this DADGBD?

  • Not quite, it's Drop D. DADGBE

  • dont let ppl shit on ya..I think that was skillful and takes time 2 learn. Well done. Plus you r a fine lookin bloke...carry on!

  • Ha ha!! 'bout time somebody noticed. :)

    Cheers.

  • Brilliant Work! Kind Regards Rigby

  • Too kind. Thanks.

  • Well i thought it was very well done my friend. Yeah the recording itself could be better but it was very well played. A beautiful song. Keep it up man!

  • Thank you. Much appreciated.

  • god, bert's technique has gone to pot. this is *embarrassing* to watch. why didn't some close advisor beg him not to release it; actually, to have just declared it a very off day would be have the most sensible escape. return the guitar to the case and wait for a much better time. dear oh dear, one of those occasions when youtube is NOT such a good idea.

  • Well cheers mate, that's put me well and truly in my place! Whatever were my "close advisors" thinking?

I suppose I should be flattered in a way as you seem to be labouring under the strange misapprehension that I actually AM Bert Jansch! However, given he's about 25 years older than me, can't say I'm terribly chuffed about that either.

Anyway, thanks again for watching. Please feel free to come back and sh*t all over the rest of my pathetic attempts at playing the guitar some time. :)

  • Do you have Borderline Personality Disorder or something? I thought it was a good enough rendition of a difficult song.

  • Was that aimed at me or the other guy? :) I was just trying to be funny anyway.

    Cheers for the comment.

  • No, not you mate. I was replying to the muppet with no social skills who slagged it off. I thought you did a good job.

  • why would i need borderline personality disorder to make an assessment of a musical rendering? one pronounces - or i certainly do - and that's it. a performance judged; no need to be defensive or why expose ones efforts in the first place? people seem all too eager to shove a performance up there but go to pieces at a judgment. anyway, as long as one enjoys playing it, the skill or quality of the piece are irrelevant

  • What nonsense. I am under no illusions about my ability and I accept criticism as long as it's not just abusive. The point is that from your comments you were clearly under the bizarre impression that I am Bert Jansch!! A fact which I would suggest is even more "embarrassing" than my dreadful performance.

  • i thought the bit about thinking you were bert was the best bit, and if you look at how bert looks these days, there *is* a passing resemblance. one of the quickest ways of raising mirth is to solemnly proceed as if addressing the person himself.

  • i never knew a different guy wrote this! i always thought this was original jimmy page

  • Yup. It's actually a traditional Irish folk song but this guitar arrangement was by Bert Jansch. If you want to hear it played properly have a look in the related videos panel. there are a couple of performances there by Bert himself. The GtrWorkShp one is particularly good.

  • So happy to see you do this - Bert Jansch is one my all time faves.

  • a few mistakes but not easy to play

  • Even if the sound is dreadful, you made a very nice job; ugh! The old "zeppelin", I love what he did, but somehow we can say he's been a sort of a thief, just ask it to Jake Holmes. Anyway, Bert's too high to be hurted by world's injustice. Maybe.

  • nice job. and you look a little something like Bert too. your playing deserves a better presentation though. something's making quite a racket behind you. cool user name too.

  • Thanks. I am one of your many fans so I feel honoured to have a comment from you on my video. The sound IS dreadful on this. I have a new microphone setup now which is a huge improvement. Thinking about re-doing some of the older ones but I have so many other things I want to play too!!

  • ahh, good. i'll check your other stuff out soon. i know how you feel about re-doing old things.
