  • lol hey the film is actually watchable haha

  • "Monkey Dust" did a couple of animated shorts in a similar vein - one set in WWII with the Irish hiding from English Nazis, and one of the Crusades (dedicated to "all the Americans who died in the Middle Ages")

Worth a look if you're after something similar - they're floating around youtube somewhere.

  • I ment the seen in the pub.Where that woman in the rocking chair mentioned the prime minister was a woman.

  • Didnt they say that the prime minister was a woman, at the beginning?

  • the genius of peter richardson at its best

  • The Nicholson at the oscars was well funny.

  • I love Rik as the Speaker - very cool :D

  • Judge???

It's the Speaker of The House of Commons you idiot. It's in the script anyway if you listen Al Pacino says "Mr Speaker"

  • haha! Rik as the judge. xD

    gotta love rik

    =D

    <3

and isn't it funny how the next episode actually is the GLC xD

  • I love how he pronounces Skargill as Skoggle all the way through...

  • This is definitely one of comic strips bests.

  • Bit of a subtle joke--the actor playing the "Prime Minister" (He welcomes the little girl to the house of Commons) looks just like Neville Chamberlain, who was Prime Minister in the late 30's (when in fact the Prime Minister at the time of the strike was Margaret Thatcher). Remember how earlier the art director says the film "feels like the 30's."

  • "Its set in the 80s but it feels like the 30s, all films do!"

  • Hahaha, apparently Tom Cruise is to star as American pilot Billy Fiske in an upcoming film about the Battle of Britain called "The Few"...In which he will no doubt save Great Britain singlehandly against the Nazi hordes, probably with his heroic wingman Ben Affleck. Despite the fact only 7 Americans VOLUNTEERED to help, none of whom shot any Luftwaffe down, whilst Roosevelt left us on our own, thinking we would fall in a matter of weeks. FUCK OFF HOLLYWOOD lol.

  • Rik Mayall as the judge was fucking hilarious.

  • wot a brilliant comic strip presents i really enjoyed this another one of my favourites was the supergrass. british comedy realy is the best. jennifers performance wa brilliant in this thanx for the uoload jodie x

  • Don't let the Americans see this!

  • Ha! Why not? I'm American and I adore the Comic Strip. In fact, I'm practically obsessed with it.

  • This has always been one of my favourite bits of the film, but I just thought that people might be slightly offended by the stereotyping of what a Hollywood version of the 84-85 miners' strike might look like, that's all. It could lead to yet another mid-Atlantic flame war.

  • The thing about The Comic Strip is that it lampoons everyone, including both Brits and Americans. There were some pretty crap U.S. films in the 80s, and that particular bit of American culture deserves to be ridiculed. Obviously, not all Americans go for that stuff, just like I'm sure not all Brits like certain stereotypical British things. It's all good.

  • Beside the "Bad news"-films there is no douth that this is the best film made by THE COMIC STRIP. Personally I like the story and moral better more than the jokes. It

    a dam god film

  • If you liked this one, you may also enjoy GLC (also Comic Strip) and 'Churchill: The Hollywood Years', same writers, similar theme. You'll either get it or you won't - sadly, most don't :-(

  • Churchill was a good idea but was too long. Most of the jokes had run its course by the end. It would have been better having the same format as this.
