1 nuke landed 2 early, nothing happened just sploded, didnt do damage..

@DarklingX I think the vortex length and the nuke calldown time are about equal. Lay the nuke RIGHT after you see the blue swirl coming from the vortex. Like within a half-second of the blue swirls coming out.

@GlenwingKyros umm as I remember it nuke is 20 seconds, vortex is 15. so youll have like 2-3 seconds to lay down the perfect nuke after u see the vortex

@hha8 They are both 20 seconds. However the vortex has about a half second of "opening animation" before it starts sucking in units and the countdown starts. You have that long to place the nuke so it fall right when the vortex ends.

now my strategy is normally if over half my units get grabbed by the vortex, to throw the other half into it so they don't die, and use it to buy time for me to bring backup, but the nuke complicates that nicely, hmm, i should bring 2 ghosts and a raven into every fight to snipe the nuker.

@Alexon88 I disagree. 1v1 versus protoss EMP is great to have. It's not unreasonable to go marauders as an anti-stalker measure either, so you're likely to have a medivac. As such, you already have a ghost and a transport. As soon as the enemy pushes, nuke his base. He probably doesn't have a residual force. He either has to retreat or split his attention, or lose his economy. Either way it's been well worth the fairly low cost, and they spend the rest of the game paranoid.

@SheWasAlmost18 EMP then nuke versus protoss. Versus Terran, half his stuff will be on fire and if you keep pressure up at the same time he's out of SCVs (as you should) he's going to lose a bunch. Regardless of if the buildings die, losing 20+ workers and having to do a whole lot more macro is not trivial.

As for just moving the workers away, you are then forcing them to do more micro and shutting down the entire base's economy for a period. This is assuming they do it perfectly.

If you're getting ghosts anyway (which you should be half the time, especially against protoss) then 100m 100g is really not going to put your army in a weaker position.
