  • I hope that they know tying the obi in the front indicates prostitution.

  • Curb!

  • The Mikado is racist? God help us. If that's what one chooses the take from this, well, your life is a joke that is just begun...and will continue to be one fat JOKE.

  • You sound really good.

  • I'm playing pitti-sing in mine haha!!

  • i just found out that im playing pitti sing in the mikado! im sooo excited!

  • quick question, what character does the girl in the red play?

  • @archery411 Yum-Yum is in the red, Pitti-Sing in purple and Peep-Bo in green

  • niiice :-)

  • Aww you left out Pitti Sing!

  • SUITE LIFE OF ZACK AND CODY LOL

  • Three people obviously don't like Japanese school girls.

  • @MrRaindog lol I thought you were referring to the video for a second. Ahaha!

  • Great videeo of the Mikado! You three were amazing!

  • Very nice performance!

  • Brava! This is a stand-out performance. I love how the choreographer has taken the opening from the Australian version and transformed it into something much more beautiful and appealing.

  • Look its three white chicks in yellow face, but its okay, its only racist if you paint yourself up to look black and not if you make yourself look like Japs.

  • @zappbrannigan420 This is not racist, nor was the original. Just because a person of one race wears the traditional dress and/or makeup of another culture doesn't make that person racist! I find more offense in your use of the word "Japs" than in anything Gilbert and Sullivan ever wrote.

  • @shauninfl28 Why whats offensive about Japs? They come from Japan, its an abbrieviation, same thing with Nips, as they don't actually call themselves Japan, they refer to themselves as Nippon. But the rest of us use a horrible variation of the Chinese word Riben, which means Japan. So yeah, you're fucking dumb. And namng your characters Yum-Yum, Peep-Bo and Pitti-Sing, theres nothing racist or ignorant about that. Shows a real knowledge of the culture.

  • @zappbrannigan420 Please don't assume that I know nothing about Japanese language or culture. I have studied both. Don't insult me by telling me what Japanese people call themselves. And as far as the G&S ignorance of the culture, of COURSE they were. They were from Victorian England. The world was a different place back then. But The Mikado only uses Japan as a backdrop....the real story is a satire of Victorian society.

  • @shauninfl28 preach it!

  • @shauninfl28 So we just forgive them their obvious racism because they were from Victorian England when it was okay to be a monstrous racist. I suppose it was also okay to sell opium to the Chinese because hey, it was the 19th century, or to enslave the people of India to grow British tea so you wouldn't have to buy it from the Chinese they were selling that opium too. Don't make apologies for those monsters, and if I want to insult an ignorant fool like you, I will.

  • @zappbrannigan420 it is as if you are refusing to listen to anyone's argument and just so fixated on this being racist... i don't mean anything by this and I'm not even implying that its not racist but you're not being objective.

  • @dedeincre First off, who said I had to be objective?

  • @zappbrannigan420 Oh Jesus sorry, it was supposed to be a question. This is NOT me being sarcastic, I'm just not in the mood to write it any differently. To be perfectly honest i understand why one would presume this is a ridiculous portrayal of Japanese tradition and it being racist but it just simply isn't.

  • @zappbrannigan420 please tell us your qualifications. This might get interesting...

  • Comment removed

  • @lijluvr356 Qualifications? One needs qualifications to post a comment on youtube? Or to recognize racism as racism now? I mean, how is this different than a minstrel show? A bunch of foreign devils painting themselves up as another race and making a mockery of their culture, sounds like racism to me...

  • @zappbrannigan420 I just wanted to know if you had anything to back up your statements, that's all. ^_^

  • @lijluvr356 Well my friend were I dress up a bunch of white kids in blackface and have them reinact the adventures of Sambo the jungle boy, well everyone wouldn't look the other way would they? Even if I got some British Fellows to write a bunch of songs for it would it be okay? Not at all. This is no different. A bunch of racist white people painting themselves up in banana face, horrible.

  • @zappbrannigan420 I think it all hinges on when it was created and what the intention of the writer was. In this particular case, it was written when they really didn't know much about Japan, so they wrote what they thought it was like, but what they REALLY were going after was Victorian society; shauninfl28 put it well. I'm willing to continue this conversation, but let's not clutter up butagirluk's page anymore: if you want to keep arguing, private messaging it is.

  • @lijluvr356 So its okay to paint yourself up like a Jap, but not like a black. Yeah, that ain't racist.

  • @zappbrannigan420 if it isn't a private message, I will no longer respond. This has gone on long enough on this woman's page.

  • i remember doing this song 4 choir. i sang peep-bo's part. we had 2 giggle after the solo parts. very nice singing voices

  • well done - would like to have seen it when the set was finished

  • Wonderful!

  • You did beautifully my dear! :)

  • Well, done, except that the video is crap and doesn't do you justice.

  • Well Done

  • that one was so cute! i loved it

  • VERY well done. The stage is a little overpopulated with uniformed extras, though. Behind all this must have been a hard-working director. My congratulations to him/her.

  • yayyy! very well done!

  • Does anyone have the film "Chariots of Fire"? Harold Abrahams' future girlfirend does this in the movie.

  • What are the other girl's names?

  • Annette Wase played Yum Yum and Rachel Johnson played Peep-Bo

  • Brilliant ...

  • The singing was well done. There were a few little step sequences that could have been synced better and this performance top notch.

  • My favorite G&S EXCELLENT well done.
