@VoxJoxx Stupid fucking question. Clapton and hendrix are musicians whilst Pinter is a playwright. Therefore you cant compare them, retard. I wonder why there are so many idiots on youtube.
My puny brush with greatness: my mom sublet our apt. to The Pinters in NYC in Feb. 1967, and both he and Vivian Merchant met me at the door as I was unlocking it. Didn't know they had already moved in !! True story.
I also remember this on Public TV in NYC, and loved it to death. But then, I love anything Olivier/Pinter - not to mention Alan Bates, Helen Mirren and Malcolm McDowell. A classic. Thanks for posting!
What a fantastic production of a superb play. This is Pinter at his absolute best, an the performances here are excellent. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I just read about this play and this particular TV production in the book "Still Acting Gay" by John M. Clum and I'm so excited to find it here! Thanks so much!
Fantastic stuff!!! One of those rare pieces that's almost impossible to get hold of.
It's always good to see such good actors working on something that is unlikely to be successful but do it because of their appreciation of the material.
Very nice television version. Helen Mirren is so strikingly beautiful and such a composed actress. The Name she asks her shop assistant is Whitney Newsome, not Houston.
I'd love to know what year this was made (I know it must be the 70's) and second, did anyone else notice the woman on the phone in the shop saying "Ms. Whitney Houston". Can someone with a written version of the play tell me what she actually says?
Thank you very much for this!

Oh my god, Helen Mirren, you were so, so beautiful. You're the reason cave men chiseled on walls. I wish I could go back in time.

@VoxJoxx probably not at guitar, but there are other fields i can think of where he probably excels

They all excelled in their respective fields, so comparison is odious

Does anyone know where the external locations were shot?

As a guess at an answer to my own question, it looks like it could be either London or Bristol.

Fabulous. This has been released in the UK on DVD at last as part of the Laurence Olivier Presents box set, with five other plays in the series.
