When you say you've been playing for 25 years. I don't feel so bad that i'm not nearly as good as you. I started playing since around June of 2011 when my cousin bought an ukulele and played a few chords. I tried to replicate it and found it to be enjoyable and now own a kamaka and absolutely love it.

I find that a lot of times when I'm improving i jump to the wrong scale or go accidentally diminish a chord and what not, especially when im jumping up and down the fret board, could you point me to where i can learn ukulele music theory a bit better?

Yeah, it's still the best ukulele I've played so far......This ukulele was made when G-string ukuleles was first starting out...I believe I got it back in 1997 and its still top quality!!

If you go to the video lesson on: Ukulele Lesson - Technique 1 Hammers and Pulloffs and the Technique 2 vid, it explains the basic theory on how to play this kind of riff.

Also, if you use the Ukulele Lesson - Learn To Pick On The Ukulele: C Scale and incorporate all those lessons into one.

Once you have all those down, it pretty much explains the picking technique!!

i think i pretty much got the concept down. but i just cannot pick that fast yet. you using just your pointer on the up/down stroke of the picking?

i'm used to using my thumb, but it doesnt sound clean on the upstroke.

Try practicing picking with your pointer finger. If you're going to use your thumb, try to use a thumb pick. Use what ever is the most comfortable method for you. I found it having more versatility using your pointer finger....but that's just my opinion!! : )

Hey im coming to hawaii for a vacation which island is the best?

I would say O'ahu or Maui would be the best because there's more things to do. If you're more into seeing the old Hawai'i, the outer islands such as Kaua'i and Hawai'i (Big Island) would be a better bet. O'ahu and Maui is more modernized. It's basically the LA in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. If you got the time and resources I would try to visit all of them. They all got their own uniquness to all of them.
