  • Happy new year, thank you so much for the precise explanation.

  • Woman`s bikini in background become more...good:)))=)))

  • Hehe great girlfriend...

  • lol yellow's not digusting! I'm asian!

    jkjkjk

  • thanks, very informative :)

  • I think he should do an ear and nose tutorial with that same photo. #LOL

  • surrrrrreeee shes ur girlfriend!!!

  • @shellrazor87 she's his wife now

  • Really good tutorial thanks : )

  • good job sir.. :)

  • 1:43 Snooki would disagree

  • wooww.... her skintone :D

  • dude this is good tutorial but i don't think you should upload tutorials with pictures of your family

  • wow thnx

  • I thought that was a male in the background

  • I was just thinking, since there is no vibrance in cs3 (which is the one I'm using) maybe I can have almost similar results if I made a selection over the picture of the person, raise the saturation to about 50% of maximum, made an inverse selection, and max out the saturation of the surrounding environment. eheh by the way, does this only work on human skin tone and not on objects or um animal skin?

  • that was really helpful!! thanks alot =]

  • dude just brush your teeth

  • @dj18hh Wrong video, dude.

  • you should have photoshopped the woman in the background out of the picture lol

  • @JoeCaliforniah yes it is disgusting...except that true yellow skin doesnt even exist

  • @Kazishairslikesoradd what's disgusting?

  • @JoeCaliforniah replyed to your other comment

  • @Kazishairslikesoradd i don;t even know u.

  • look at the man in the back

  • I thought it was not protecting skin BUT it works on colours that are weaker then the rest, so bringing up only colours that might need it.....and not colours that already have good saturation.

  • only is cs4 ? i guess cs5 has it ?

  • is that a women in the background?

  • @wstentzer it seems a chinesse guy wearing a Bikini

  • @wstentzer It is a shame that the only girls you have ever talked to is your mother and sister.

  • @IceflowStudios Did you remove my comment below; or does somebody else also have that kind of authorization? I'm very very sorry if I gave you any reason to do so, I wasn't in any way trying to be anything but informative. So please put it back .. or something .. if that's possible.

  • so that's what the travel brochures do

  • Thanks! It answered my question.

  • Check out these video tutorials if you need help in becoming a pro Photoshop user - youtube.com/watch?v=wg-MqQwG5z4

  • thank you very much.

  • thank you

  • thats good ^_^

  • I thought the *clears throat* woman in the background was a man until you said so.

  • good job looking at the girl in the background instead of your girl

  • I love the vibrance :D

  • love her sunglasses

  • can i borrow your gf?

  • what if your model is a black lady? Does PS cater for black/african skin tones?

  • @irishdude79 You Would have to add not only saturation, but also a Brightness & Contrast AND a Curves Value :]

  • i tot it was a dude in the back til u say bikini

  • Your wife is hot. Oh, your videos good too.

  • If you look at my girlfriends skin, it's incredibly yellow. It's disgusting!

  • Is that little panda express?

  • my vibrance is blocked off and wont let me access it plz he3lp

  • check this effect

    :D

  • What's the difference between between Vibrance & Saturation? "Crank Saturation all the way up and you'll notice it's making the colours a lot more vibrant, which is what Saturation's supposed to do." Nice explanation. Surprised you didn't say that Vibrance makes them more saturated... That said, nice series of tutorials.

  • i ahve 7.0.1 and doesn't have it :(

  • Wow! U said that ur Girlfriend is disgusting lol Great Video anyway^^ keep it up^^

  • Nah, It's just the same. Vibrance looks like its got finer levels of saturation adjustments.

  • Ignore previous comments, I cant take the previous comments seriously with all the spelling errors and obvious maturity level of the poster, Great Video, very informative, keep up the good work.

  • OK , OK i did a mistake. This girl looks better than moust of american womans. Ussualy they are fat and eat a lot of junk food. So i am sorry dude. It is hard to do better in the US.

  • Thank you very much for your videos! Ignore all the stupid comments

  • That was rude. Keep your rude oppinions to self, please.

  • You are such mentally challenge idio. What a way to expose your self to critsism. Think and grow up.

  • @ioanpena whats wrong with her. Your quite sad and need to get a life instead of leaving bad comments on people videos.

  • OMG... Mine is CS3 T_T

  • how about nose inhancement..

  • Nice work, thanks :)

  • Thank you Howard. Short, clear, up to the point. One of those (rare) tutorials you simply remember without having to go back to it. Kudos from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

  • I wish I had you teaching my classes back in college....very easy to follow along...thanks

  • Hey great to know! Great video and very informative! Thanks dood! :)

  • same here, howard. from an artist background and teaching for a living. i don't know how many times i've explained that horizons are... don't get me started.

it was fun, though, don't you think, us two behaving totally out of character because of a hori... don't get me started, i said!

  • First off, this doesn't look like a photograph, just a random point-and-shoot snapshot that the OP thought would be useful to illustrate his point; so why critique it with such a critical eye?

  • @thesag3 its the concept of it

  • Second, contemporary photo has become more than straight lines. I'm not saying the photograph is good by any means, but really... on a shot like this I think the horizon being straight is irrelevant. I'd be more concerned with the clouds coming out of her head or the people destroying the composition. Maybe in a full length portrait - standing in front of a house/church, I could see where a level horizon would be critical. Photography is not art to everyone with a camera <3

  • thank you so much, howard. tell me something else, though. why is the horizon in your picture not level? why is nobody's horizon ever level? you didn't think the sea could be anything other than horizontal, did you? you do realize that if the sea weren't horizontal, the water would seep out at the low end till it was level again...

who cares about vibrance if you can't get the basics right...? huh?

  • Ill teach u the basics of kissin my ass in the crack! I cant stand lil bitches like u that feel the need to qritique every little detail! Id like to see ur port! Id eat it alive!

  • splendid reaction! you have every right to be offended, of course, and if you insist you can see my port any time and eat it any way you want. if it's the tone that makes the music i guess i was singing a pretty false tune there and i apologize for that.

  • wow me too!! i got way too ugly with that staytement lol !!I think i came off so strong is because i come from an artist background and my work (photography) is pretty raw <by that I mean some pix may be blurry or lighting may be off from a professional photographers stand point ,,and I feel like a turd that i calld u a lil bitch !! lol its not my style to attack so strong !!

  • Comment removed

  • vibrance did exist in the CS3 RAW processing plugin, just not the main toolset

  • awesome. very informative. thanks bro. subscribed!

  • i like what vibrance did to the skin tone. thanks. :)

  • enjoy your tuts ^.^

  • excellent, thanks for the tips!

  • Actually even n CS3 you can open your photo as Photoshop Raw by selecting "Open As" select the photo and in the pull down menu you can select Raw. Now you have a bunch of tabs on the right with all kinds of things you can manipulate INCLUDING Vibrance. :) Hope that helps!

  • cant u just draw it using the pen?

  • i'm not gonna lie i laughed really hard

  • lol i thorght new years was cold, well it is in england

  • i think you should photoshop a pic of yourself in your next tutorial.

  • me 2

  • grat.. THX

  • excellent.

  • lol dude u help alot and crack me up sometimes lol :)

  • nice.

  • Vibrance is a way more subtle than Saturation & is used on photos showing skintones.

  • excellent!!!!!!!!11

  • no he wont hook you up , thats his girlfriend

  • Thanks

  • Wow... This will help with those bland lighted photos a lot. Thanks for the explanation. :D

  • Thanks for the explanation on Vibrance vs Saturation. It makes sense, and of course it can be used in other ways, but nice to know that it protects skintones. I'll now call it SUNLOTION-filter :o]

    / Ole Øuien [gra'fi'dé]

  • Fantastic vids. Thanks!

  • You're asking him to hook you up with his girlfriend, I'm going to take a wild guess and say, "No, he can't". >:3

  • i think for vibrance, it is also saturation but less extreme.

If you contrast the image abit more, the colours might stand out more.

Alternatively if you duplicate and put it on soft light and turn the opacity down, won't it give a similar effect?

  • Where do you find all your pictures that you use in the vids?

  • Stock footage

lots of sites around with Stock Photos, most cost money

  • oh cool

  • I just noitce on this video that youtube is charging for downloads lol fuck youtube

  • thanks

  • thank you so much..

    u are help much~!

  • Thanks for the tutorial.

  • Wow. I wish color correction in Final Cut Pro had something like this. This is EXACTLY the problem I face with our videos.

Howard- do you know of any ways to achieve something like this in FCP?

    -Jason

  • you gotta use Apples Color..

has many options to color correct :)

    its fantastic!

  • your girlfriend is very pretty. congrats

  • if you look at the roght you'll see two faces in the clouds one has an open mouth and the other one looks creepy lol nice vid

  • lol...I kinda see it

  • CS3 has vibrance as well.

    File/open as

then open your photo as a camera raw photo

(even if it wasnt saved as one)

then the vibrance is near the bottom of the first tabbed menu

    :)

  • No, "as far from the truth as you can possibly get" is blur = sharpen. :D

  • Awesome, thanks for makting this.

  • thx man, your tutorials really help me out. without them this would b impossible for me. thx alot and plz make more videos, cause your vids are the easiest to understand and their just so awesome

  • How can someone NOT understand the difference? He got a lot of emails asking "why are these two things the same?", funny enough he poked fun at them with "that is as far from the truth as you can get", and it is! How can you NOT try both settings and notice that skin tones are affected less? In fact, I hadn't even heard of the setting and immediately thought "it's probably specialized saturation that adjusts different colors by different amounts to avoid the 'superglow' effect of normal sat.".

  • This is perfect and very clear explanation .... thanks

  • Great quick Tutorial Howard !!

Thanks... I had been wondering the difference and you explained it very nicely !

    Cheers !

  • thank you man!

I couldn't understand the difference, because tried it on not proper fotos. Now I see this filter is goooood :)

  • It does indeed explain the difference and very well. So vibrance then pushes the mid-range colors. A slight if beneficial adjustment in PSCS4.

    THX

  • id hit that ass

  • lol

  • Nice tutorial, love the HD

  • VIBRANCE is the best shit ever created XD!
