I played lots of ice hockey and it looks completely intentional to me. When lifting somebodies stick...you do it with your body not your arms, it would not result in a swinging motion like that. If that was normal you would see it happening a lot and it never happens at all.

It's obviously intentional, I was reading comments on the "follow through" but even so stick lifts don't look like that and even if it was poor timing this is the NHL and he is a Veteran player so that just doesn't happen. He hit him in the face with his back hand from a half swing and even if players get hit from a stick lift it's from the top of the curve and possibly the front.
As a lifelong Wings fan I don't think this was an intentional cheap shot, but it's most definitely worthy of the double minor they gave him. It's pretty obvious that the refs agreed that it was unintentional or Foote would have been thrown out or at least given a major.

If he had meant to hit him he wouldn't have tried to catch him on the way down, and probably wouldn't have looked too concerned about him (Stevie) which he clearly does. Foote has always been a tenacious, gritty player. And admittedly sometimes dirty with his elbows, but he is not the sort of player to intentionally injure.

I played lots of ice hockey and it looks completely intentional to me. When lifting somebodies stick...you do it with your body not your arms, it would not result in a swinging motion like that. If that was normal you would see it happening a lot and it never happens at all.

Yeah, I'm a huge Yzerman fan, but that high stick didn't look intentional to me at all. It looked like he tried to lift his stick, but Yzerman went for the puck so Foote missed and accidentally got him in the face.

It's obviously intentional, I was reading comments on the "follow through" but even so stick lifts don't look like that and even if it was poor timing this is the NHL and he is a Veteran player so that just doesn't happen. He hit him in the face with his back hand from a half swing and even if players get hit from a stick lift it's from the top of the curve and possibly the front.

A guy who does that on purpose wouldnt reach to help, and he normally would start looking around for guys to jump him (for a fight). Foote has always been a tenacious, gritty player. And admittedly sometimes dirty with his elbows, but he is not the sort of player to intentionally injure.
