Hey! I've currently got an acoustic drum set, but it's getting way to pricey for me. So
I've got a couple questions if you could possible answer them. Which do you prefer, acoustic or electric, why? Is there anything you have to replace on electric sets (heads/pads etc)? Can you use a double bass pedal on and electric drum set? Can you add on to an electric drum set and buy more drums/cymbals?
@GRETSCHandSABIAN Acoustic drums have the ''real'' feel , electric drums haven't that. With a acoustic set u can play not in the night , with a electric it's possible. A double bass is possible , but u need the right kick trigger. Also its possible to add more cymbals , drumpads but that is all about the brain module and is on every set different , bad english ;)
@GRETSCHandSABIAN I prefer acoustic drums for the real feel , but electric are better for drumming in ur room without upset neightbours.. My electric drumpads has never broke and I hit hard , im getting the Roland TD4KX2 tomorow , my advice : go to a music store and ask if u can try both;)
@Mfeniksz I have an acoustic set now, but am looking at getting an electric instead. I like my acoustic, but my time is limited that i can play on it. And replacing cymbals and drumheads and hardware and everything for it is just getting to expensive. I like with an electric set how you can hook it up to your computer and dick around with things on here. Thanks again for the help! Have a great day!
I watched this long ago, im still keen on buying rold Vs, although im mainly a guitarist and composer, the jam you get into is really great I can totally feel it, Id love to comp or do lead with this, you dont by any chance live in Canada do you):
chekc out my band here on youtube maybe you like it as much(:
@okm2k4 at the time it was the only V-drum set - called V-drums. It comes with the td-10 controller. The drums and cymbals are original except for the HH - originally it was the 7" cymbal, now the 12" HH. The 7" is connected to input #11. I still have 1 more unused input. I moved all the stand crossbars, drum mounts and cymbal mounts to get the setup you see.
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to take a regular snare drum and take the top off and put a electric snare drum top on it and hook it up to a electric drum set and use it like a regular electric snare drum???????
@epohnopulse actually its both - you can assign any of the drum sounds in the controller to any pad, AND you can use the MIDI signal, which you can set to any note, to trigger an external MIDI instrument or software. You can even send this note to multiple MIDI instruments. I have produced over 50 completely different songs in this way - be careful, tho - it can become an obsession :)
I have assigned the left foot pedal as a snare - most of the better electronic kits let you assign ANY sound to any of the drums, cymbals, and pedals. This makes creating new drum parts really interesting!
because of the broad frequency range of electronic drums, the better the headphones (or speakers) the more real the drums sound :). Also, that lets you listen to them LOUD if you want. But I actually don't know which brand is best :(
my set came with steel drums as a preset. most electronic kits allow you to change the instrument for any of the drums, cymbals, and rims. you hit the "instrument" button (or maybe a short form of the word), then "list" to show the list of instruments available. You might also try to use the MIDI out (if available) and run the MIDI cord to MIDI in on a keyboard or a computer with MIDI instrument software (I usually use Reason)
drums and cymbals on electronic kits can be moved and arranged to fit anyone's playing style. on my kit I moved the support bars so the toms are at the same height. I had to turn the 2 low tom mounting brackets upside-down also. I hope that's what you are asking - if not, just let me know and I'll try again ;)
The phaonmneal pweor of the hmuan mnid, aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it dseno't mtaetr in waht oerdr the ltteres in a wrod are, the olny iproamtnt tihng is taht the frsit and lsat ltteer be in the rghit pclae. The rset can be a taotl mses and you can sitll raed it whotuit a pboerlm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe. Just like Steel Drums, electronic drums are an instrument in themselves, not only a "simulator" as you say. They are played as the artist chooses. I would never judge your instrument, why judge mine?
ive just always grown up on real drums. my mother actually bought me an electric kit last year for christmas and i cant stand it, although you have a really nice kit. now i like the beat itself but it just sounds unrealistic i didnt mean to say that i hate the whole thing. and well i was already in a bad mood
