  • Hate to spout cliches, but they don't make em like this anymore.

  • Adam Ant is one of kind. That's not only the highest compliment I can give, but the rarest.

  • Keep your heads up friends and neighbors, The life we enjoyed around this period of music will return!

  • Jaghoff - I agree fucking sad what the years do to you - i always wished i could have looked live adam ant, he must have got some serious tail during his fame years. Really sad how he ended up.

  • When I think my youth was boring I see things like this and remember how blessed I was ;P

  • For a band that didn't have a lot of time in the spotlight, they had a lot of songs that have held up well 30 years later.

  • I listen to this music despite being a teenager to validate my fragile sense of individuality and superiority against the majority of people my age that refuse to accept me. Please like the shit out of this to further validate my phoney personal identity.

P.S. I'm a teenager! Listening to music that teenagers don't normally listen to! Aren't I novel and amazing! :P I probably don;t even like this sort of music anyway! Tee-hee.

  • I'm only 16 but I'm in love with Adam and the Ants; the music is just brilliant!

  • I saw this live about 4 hours ago. it was incredible. Long live adam!

  • Classic 1980 song. The showman.

  • I envy my parents for being alive during this time!!! they are SOOO lucky... I <3 Adam

  • Classic song from an era of overt expression of inner-self and freedom of creativity.

  • Where the FUCK did 30 yrs. go??? I can remember dancin to this in local shithole, thinkin I was sooooo fuckin cool !!!!! now I get mistaken for my Daughter's Grandpa !!!!! BLOW ME !!!

  • @jaghoff Nice one. Thinking the same thing mate. :-)

  • @jaghoff hahahahahaha

  • @jaghoff So i turned to her and i said. BLOW ME

  • @jaghoff

5 dollars and the biggest hug I've ever seen or no deal.

  • @jaghoff

    We are TIMELESS my friend!

  • @jaghoff Too true!!! I was born in 61, helped raise some step kids for a bunch of years and then at 47 years old discovered I was going to be a Dad for the first time. Shes 3 now and awesome but I also get asked how old my GrandDaughter is or she gets asked if she is out for a walk with Granddad!!! Funny as hell and they look so embarrassed when I tell them she is mine. We also have another one on the way, due in April 2012!! WTF I am 50 farkin years old!!!

The old music sure takes me back!

  • @jaghoff Yeah, but this was the last real and original New Music scene. Nothing was rehashed here. Pure energy and real creativity. Love the early 80's!!!!!

  • a great classic song.i noticed in this video at 0:57 secs is an actress who went to hollywood at the time and later appeared in a soap drama

  • Kool

  • He's pretty fit! Awesome song, awesome vid.

  • My YouTube buddy RobRobertTheMusicMan sent me this video along with "Strip" Which are both very Kool songs. I've recently heard these at work (What a coincidence?) but didn't Know who the artist(s) was or were. However, I do remember him from "Goody Two Shoes". Anyway, today's commercial music is way worst than ever, it wasn't half or even a quarter as bad then.

  • Adam Ant Attack.

  • Adam Ant, in his prime, could kick Captain Jack Sparrow's ass!

  • I just realized something. Typical teenagers, ( not to make myself seem better than them) listen to shit music, usually off youtube. What excuse do they have to not listen to REAL music from the 70's, 80's, and up to the mid 90's? Even 30's, 40's and 50's is really good as well.

  • @gabeyoung12345 I'm a teenager, and I'm listening to this... & I don't listen to what's on the "top 40" either, lol.

Most of it's synthesised crap, in my opinion anyways.

Don't paint us all with the same brush! :P

  • @calculatorINSTINCTS Thank you. I'm also a teen who gets margainalised just because I'm in the same age group as people who listen to nowadays music. I love listening to the 70's and 80's and some as far back as the 30's!

  • @Maggie94xx i also love songs from the 30s thru to the late-80s/early 90s,but i am a huuuuuuge adam ant/adam and the ants fans since the late 70s.

  • @calculatorINSTINCTS In fairness, most of the 80's was sythesised crap too. Nostalgia just makes us idiots.

  • @demonhoopa Can you not read 'in my opinion'?

In your opinion nostalgia makes you an "idiot". Fine, think like that. Won't get you very far though. I don't think nostalgia is idiotic at all. Nostalgia, for me, brings back memories and through listening to old school music (for example) lets me relive them.

  • @calculatorINSTINCTS With all due respect, you're over reacting. The Notalgia comment was not directed at you (how could it be? You said you're a teenager) but at my middle aged peers that let nostalgia cloud how they remember a certain time, that everything was better then. Trust me when I tell you top 40 was unlistenable in the 80's too. You're only hearing the songs that were good enough to endure. Consider yourself lucky. :)

  • @demonhoopa with all due respect, you're being quite condescending. i was not over reacting. i am entitled to my opinion and i stick by it. in your previous comment you said nothing about your middle aged peers, hence why i, again, gave you my opinion. :)

  • @calculatorINSTINCTS Condescending? You mean like saying "Can you not read 'in my opinion'".

Look I meant no offense and was not trying to insult you. I only meant to offer some insight into that decade you might not have since you weren't there. And reassure you that your generation isn't "total garbage" like some older myopians love to insist. I'm not "disagreeing with you". Just saying while U2 may be better than Maroon 5, Pink is a hell of a lot better than Stacy Q, The Jets or Lisa Lisa

  • @calculatorINSTINCTS For the record, I think it's great you're so open minded and enjoy stuff from before you were born. Very cool.

  • Stupid British electric plugs.

  • @L188188 im suprised you thick fucking yanks know wot a plug is!

  • @TherymasterWidnes Your insult is so charming that it doesn't even make me mad! Yeah I hate your plugs and your horrible 220v 50 amp service. And take Ireland with ya.

  • @L188188 220v ? its 240v. Typical thick yank, opening their mouths before thinking.

  • @TherymasterWidnes Yep, just a typical think Yank that has owned you and your little country for the past 236 years. Get your teeth fixed, limey.

  • @L188188 good one. Another load of bollocks you have come out with ! (236 years?) do me a favour, get your own house in order, you are the most loathed country on Gods earth, so much so your own government allow people fly planes into your buildings! I'll fix my teeth, you fix the twin towers ! WANKER.

  • @TherymasterWidnes Nice comment about the Twin Towers....I hope you are learning arabic since your country is gonna be called the Islamic Republic of Great Britain in a few years....but don't worry I'm sure we will bail your sorry asses out AGAIN like we have many times before.....TOOL

  • Crowd looks excited by it all....it's going off!!!!

  • Someone please build me a time machine so I can go back to the 80s!!

  • These drums are the best. Did you know the Ants branched off to Bow Wow Wow only leaving Adam? Yep, true story.

  • @TheRolyPolyBoy Marco Pironni stayed with Adam...but you're right, they did branch to Bow Wow Wow.

  • Adam Ant - such style!! Still love his look - awesome jacket!!

  • Wow this was considered a music video back in the 80's. Not that I have anything against it, I'm just not a music video person, I feel it distracts you from the music.

  • awful at the hardrock festival... way too old now!!!

  • @matthaversonisback Age isn't an excuse to stop. Rod Stewart, Meatloaf and Dolly Parton are still out and about with concerts and tours on the way and all three of them are older than Adam

  • @Funkykitsune it doesn't mean they're any good. Yes I like 'ant music' but he's just embarrasing himself now.

  • @matthaversonisback Well I've heard fans are still enjoying his performances. If they enjoy it and he enjoys it, that's all that matters really. I've seen a few videos of him recently and he still sounds alright, a couple mistakes yeah, but nothing utterly horrible

  • @Funkykitsune he looks like a deranged paedophile marching around stage with 2 young girls. A bit like your mother.

  • @matthaversonisback That's a little bit uncalled for don't you think? I haven't hurled a single insult at you. Besides if you don't like him, then why are you watching these videos?

  • @Funkykitsune fuckoff you stupid twat. go suck off a horse

  • @matthaversonisback Someone's mad

  • @matthaversonisback Loving the comeback there, not a lot you can say to 'go suck off a horse' haha

  • Gotta love Adam and the Ants! Fantastic!

  • really good song..ANT MUSIC..ROXY MUSIC...BRYAN FERRY WAS A HUGE INSPIRATION FOR HIM..

  • FIFA Streets 2 anyone??

  • 0:58 - is that Siouxsie Sioux?!

  • @cobrien706 Good eye! I do believe it is.

  • @chloeJanee, Surely if you're not having fun, try another flavour. Be the change you wish to see

  • 45 people forgot to unplug the jukebox.

  • The rise of the new romantics!

  • we need some ant music nowadays the crap they try to pass as music makes my stomach turn

  • Anyone else think that 1981 produced arguably the best pop music the world has ever heard? I was 7 at the time, and still think this is the case.

  • Gosh, he's handsome

  • Back when music was still fun.

  • Adam didn't go solo he formed Marco Merrick, Terry Lee, Garry Tibbs and YOURS TRULY!!!!!!!!!

  • great memories...and pretty jammin really

  • i like this, and he was smart and got ideas from malcolm mclaren, for a small fee!!!

  • Im 9 months old and I listen to this

  • The spectacular Adam Ant!

    No music is like his!

  • Adam created Ant music, if only musicians today were as creative and Original seems like everything now riffs off of something thats allready been done , where is todays originality...?

  • @scooch2010 Originality is a strange obsession, especially in music. Music itself has been around since humans inhabited the earth, which is 100,000 years. It's extremely hard to find a new idea after that period of time. Musicians nowadays are trying to take it next level, whatever that might be. Look at Lady Gaga or OK Go, for example. I do agree on the fact that musicians aren't nearly as creative or imaginative as they were back then.

  • I've had an anthill on my lawn for some time now. Played this song. We get along quite well now.

  • yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • I always wonder what they look like now

  • @Curtleeeee adam's on facebook...

  • dad's music is always the best.

  • when people ask what kind of music i like i say any music you like (them thinking todays music)...then i continue it with as long as its 80s......(80s rap, metal, pop etc.)

  • Malcom McLaren was a twat then :::

  • imaginative lyrics, the use of repetition could catch on:-(

  • @MrMikehuntiswet Is there really any need for that!

  • mmmm...gorgeous.gorgeous!!!!

  • he's my idol, and im 14.

he's just amazing, his creativity, he went thro depression and so did i.

without him, i wouldn't be here.

Adam Ant, i love you <3

  • I love it! I love the 80s <3

  • this song is mint it is one of my favorites

  • I was 12yrs old when this track came out & Adam was my first ever schoolgirl crush lol! Still think his early stuff was fab!

  • What a chorus melody. Great!

  • he's so handsome

  • At 130 the guy is freaked ( lsd, acid :-) who knows? long live the 80'S adam ant legend!!

  • One of the greatest songs ever!sounds every bit as goos as it did 30+ years ago

  • what's some more awesome music like this?

  • I remember first hearing/seeing this in the late 1990's on an old 1980's Countdown reply and instantly getting into 80's music, with the help of mum of course. Adam and the Ants were certainly great to listen to and watch, still are. This is music you can dance to and enjoy, it beats anything today! What a charismatic and handsome man Stuart Goddard is I might add :D

  • King of UK music and one of the pioneers of pop culture. Should be inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame.

  • Could have done it this year.

  • The song doesn't work until you turn it up to max volume...

    Pure joy.

  • @Ms1985Barker does the name rinberg mean anything to you?just wondering if youre someone i used to know (:

  • Ant Pirates of the Caribbean :-)

  • @rach1660 as much as i am jealous, Adam Ant isn't as good as he was 30 years ago. But he is still good at singing i do agree.

  • Madman peaking

  • Rap music has lost its taste- prophetic 31 years on....

  • @fogmeister224 its actually "that"...dumbass

  • Brings back wonderful memories of the early 80s.

  • I still have my Adam Ant costume from back then.

His music changed my life, made the good times better & helped me through the bad ones, still does. Thank you Adam!

  • The spirit of fun mixed with a bit of playful anarchy is desirable. Cool post and I am thankful for this!!!

  • If only music was like this now days

    Xxx

  • @ChloeeJaneee So sick of people saying stuff like that. Actually go out and look for it and you will find many great artists. The ONLY thing that has changed from that era is that you can no longer find good music in the mainstream. End of story.

  • @ChloeeJaneee how true!

  • @ChloeeJaneee

    pffft please

  • @ChloeeJaneee - It is like this now a days..It's just called "emo"

  • Dont put Adam & emo shit in the same boat. lol, tool.

  • Comment removed

  • @rorshok Emo is way different to New Wave... Adam & co were New Wave..

  • @voxpop2000 Actually, Adam & The Ants, were considered the godfathers of the "New Romantic" movement.

  • I wake up to this song, and bop along to the rhythm

  • so sick! this song is one of my faves

  • DAMN this is a good jam!!!!!! Soooo glad i found this awesome adam ant cd on my br floor this morning!!!!

  • Adam Ant defined my generation and for that I am eternally grateful :-)

  • I love it! Adam Ant is like fuck this 70's shit! Get ready for the New Wave! New Wave was the 80's answer to the 70's disco crap backlash! Remember the Disco Sucks rally????

  • @hiracktoman9 - Adam acknowledged Motown as one of the biggest influences in his life & artistic style. That was so much better than disco.

  • i have my tickets to see him next month. actually beyond exited....

  • bliss

  • He is so Awesome!

  • great great Adam Ant

  • I love this music and i am 18 years old!. it is sooo better than some of the shite being produced in todays music industry. Mental health has nothing to do with the music... that is completely different. The music is pure and different. I bought the 2008 album of best hits and i am obsessed with it, and not once did i think of his mental health i just thought about the music (and him being fit :P) x

  • i love this song

  • Two drummers.

    Yes.

  • Comment removed

  • At 2.36 and again at 3.00 is that Amanda Donohue.

  • @37769097 Yes, they were together for a time in the '80s.

  • @37769097 probably he dated her for a while,

  • run out of comments and cant decipher the bloody code! Damn. Do us all a favour YT and stop givin us codes!

  • He wasnt manufactured he used his own ideas, he was ahead of his time

  • @wolfq you are some what right malcom had his paw in there but then he went and did the stuff which is this

  • @wolfq

totally manufactured by Malcolm McLaren...just like Bow Wow Wow. still, adam ant was great!

  • @earinsound Malcom McLaren tried to kill the dual drum sound and hated the final result with all of his withered Mr Burn's Soul!

  • @wolfq YES HE WAS MANUFACTURED!!! BY MALCOM MCLAREN, NO LESS! THEN AFTER SOME TIME MCLAREN STOLE THE BAND AND CREATED BOW WOW WOW AND ADAM HAD TO GO SOLO!!! GET YOUR HISTORY STRAIGHT!!!

  • @mephisto100973 yes, i thought (and knew) this yet no-one else did (who I knew). i STILL FUCKING LOVE HIM THOUGH

  • @mephisto100973 Adam and the ants existed before Malcolm Maclaren! so he didnt actually manafacture them he just moved in and helped bring them into the spotlight.

  • @wolfq Yea i agree. IF you took him from then to know he would fit in with those clothes and look better then lot the present muscians. His gear was the bomb. THe rest not so haha.

  • Adam was just on radio four being interviewed by John Humphrey s, and regarding his metal health. Adam ant seemd the normal one john humprhies is a bizarre man. No one seem s to understand talent any more

  • this song his halarious!!!!!!

  • now reminds me of captain jack sparrow....cant think why....first band i was into at school in the 80s

  • Great stuff, even if Adam was a tad manufactured and may have had some head problems since, a great track!

  • @smoothmicra what has his mental health got to do with anything.............apparently ignorance IS bliss in your cases...........

  • @smoothmicra his illness has no bearing on his music.....your small minded and ignorant

  • @smoothmicra Shame on you for that ignorant and unnecessary comment.

  • people in the background, any chance of a little enthusiasm? You all look bored shitless.

  • Long Live New Romanticism!
