I saw J. Geils at one of their first REAL big shows in 1970 i was 15, they opened for "Johnny Winter And" in Boston and since they only had the one LP out at that time they played the entire thing. They opened with "Sno Cone" then Peter Wolf came out slippin n sliding and sang up a storm. This is when they were still "Greasers" by the time the second LP came out { hurried in my opinon"} they were changing.. It's all GOOD !
@tootired76 Same here in Ohio although occasionally the Cleveland classic rock station might surprise the listeners and play something different. You say you hail from the Twin Cities? KQ-92 doesn't play it? I thought that station was the mother of all classic rock stations. Don't they have a classic rock request show?
Maybe they do. I can't stand to hear Joe Cocker, Van Morrison and that ilk anymore. I have been listening mostly to a hard rock station from Sauk Rapids, Mn named WHMH. They'll play Ted Nugent & Aerosmith, etc.occasionally.
saw this concert at cobo hall detroit.they sounded just like the album.love this funk.the harp enterd my ears loud gave me goose bumps.they blew my face out.
nice. only album of theirs that just says geils on it. can ya upload surrender from this? "my lovin don't come easy, my lovin don't come cheap" haha. thanks! :)
Like previous posters thanks for posting this video - always enjoy explaining that the JGB was a hell of a different band before the "Freezeframe/Centerfold/Love Stinks" days, I really hate to use the term sell-out in their case because at least those video songs made them the stars they always deserved to be - I still love the old stuff so much, can we just chalk it up to the fact they musta got lost?! Still have my red vinyl copy of "Bloodshot".......
@timmratt me too, I have all J Geils albums (Except You're Gettin Even While I'm Gettin Odd) on vinyl. The red vinyl Bloodshot is probably my fave as far as aesthetics go.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for posting this. In 1977 I was listening to this with ear phones as not to disturb the house, now, I'm 61 and blasting this for all to hear!
Does anybody have any inkling just what (if anything in particular) this song is about? It could be allegorical & not literal-but nonetheless a reference to something in particular.
I was a kid when this album came out, 20 yrs later I found my dads 8 track, now I have it on CD and still love the hell outta it, they just dont make music like this any more!
can you post 'Please Be There' from the Morning After album?????
