  • i love it how you can hear the valves of the brass in the beginning... goosebumps

  • Magnificent merger of the oud and the other instruments. My hat off to the percussion and I am speechless at the blow instruments mastery of the quarter notes (commas) and below.

  • Having multiple percussionists (ala Santana and the Allman Brothers) adds a new dimension to the oud experience. This is a great performance and the sound quality is fantastic. Thank you for sharing.

  • @hillpolecat - thanks for your observation, gives me insight too. Guess smart layering of sounds always make things interesting, no matter what the genre/instrument.

  • Put &fmt=18 at the end of the URL to listen in Stereo an much better audio quality!

  • Rabih Abou-Khalil's masterpiece from the Album "Blue Camel" (1992, Label enja). The Oud is played by master Rabih Abou-Khalil. Guest musicians: Charlie Mariano (alto saxophone), Steve Swallow (double/electric bass), Kenny Wheeler (trumpet, Flügelhorn), Milton Cardona (congas), Nabil Khaiat (frame drums) and last but not least Ramesh Shotham (percussion). Recorded in excellent audio quality. Listen & Enjoy it.
