They're all talking about giving the dog the right food, with correct amount of protein and so on... and also saying, they're really easy fed and often gets overweight, but I couldn't count to one of those dogs in that video that wasn't too big!
I just feel sorry for the dogs.. It must be really hard for them, running around with all that extra weight. Do they just give the amount that it says on the food-bag? Don't they look to their own dogs weight/ amount of exercise?

The breed standard weight for an adult male remains 80 pounds for both the American and British labs. Unfortunately, we see far too may lab owners in the USA, especially, who think its perfectly OK to overfeed their dogs until they swell to more than 100 or even 110 pounds. Now THAT is fat! I've had my Labrador for 9 years now and he's the most affectionate, loving dog who makes me smile every day no matter what he does and has some special way of comforting me when I'm sad. I love him, he loves me & I'd recommend this breed to ANYONE who was thinking of getting one.

If it weren't for the hip problems so prevalent in big dogs and the not-long-enough lifespans, these guys just might be the perfect dog. You can train them to do just about anything. Our sweet girl could out-cuddle any lovebug and 3 seconds later scare the crap out of uninvited visitors with her sheer presence.
i feed my lab dinner leftovers, vegetables, the liver and other organs of chickens we eat, the occasional fruit and grain (like rice) and she is an extremely healthy dog. Riley is a lean 80 lbs (she's pretty stocky) and strong as a freight train. Her food is really cheap and it saves us an assload of vet bills from what dogs can get from shitty food like this (cancer, tumors, obeisity etc.) It saves us a lot of heart ache

These dogs are not labradors, these are some kind of fatty mutation of labradors. Both my lab's wheight about 25kg about half the size of these round fat dogs :p
My black lab is of th e English type big broad head and a muscle structure that almost looks like a Rottweiller. His big build is the same as his father. I looked at 26 sires over 6 months before I chose the father and waited. Like some of the comments here people say he is fat, but he is not. That said, we have to be strict becaue the Labs weak point is a voracious appetite that offer destroys them.

@Sandi1H There is a differance between being stocky and fat, most of these dogs, and show labs for th most part are fat. I have an english bred lab and yes, he is shorter and wider, but he has a waistline and you can see the muscles that should be visible on any sporting dog. Alot of these labs are just fat and have no shape.
The retrieving instinct thing is so true - I used to give our dog an empty water bottle just to carry when I walked him and he'd walk so much better and he was like 'Oh, this is my job. I'm the water bottle carrier' :)
I think he was an American Labrador because he was a good deal bigger than almost all the other Labradors I saw, I think they were English ones.
But if you're getting one think about getting a Lab cross - purebred Labs get so many health problems. Especially Obesity + arthritis.
@GoHabsGo0708 They are not fat. They are bench (show bred) Labs. This is the way the show bred Labrador Retriever looks. I prefer dogs with both show and field lines, personally. But, I personally don't like Eukanuba. My dogs ONPS.
i live in a apartment and my lab is doing great walks are very important and i have a big yard in the back of my appartments so that helps also but i say go get one they are wonderful

Some of them were a little overweight. I have 2 labs both very healthy. Now you guys saw show labs or English style lab. Field labs are the taller leaner ones. I have both so if you want to see appropriate weights check out my vids on my dogs.
A few days later the owner of the Pomerainian was walking without his dog. The lab saw him and lunged at him and tried to bite him. The Labs owner was shocked at his dogs behaiviour. Seems that the Lab doesnt like the owner of the Pomerainian because he associates him with his irritating little dog. I thought the incident was pretty funny. Its like.......There's that guy with that irritating little dog. I need to bite him. LOL
My neighbor has a Black Lab. I always pet and hug the dog when i see him. The dog is always glad to see me. Each time I pet him he immediately lays on his back and wants a belly rub. My other neighbor has a very aggressine Pomerianian. I hate that dog. He tries to attack every dog and person he sees. Once when my neighbors turned the heads for a moment, the lab grabbed the Pomerainian with his jaws and started whipping his head back and forth. Somehow the little dog was'nt hurt.
I'm going through a very hard time with my labrador, he is just around 1 years old. He's the kindest best dog i know but he has a small problem, he's afraid of rage, and he has attacked a few people. So my parents have decided he has to be killed ='( R.I.P. i wish there was a cure for you're problem-.

My lab used to regulate her own eating. We'd just leave the bowl out, and fill it up as it got empty, and she'd nibble on it through the day. As a result, she was never food-oriented, because food was always available. Well, she got older, and started getting a little overweight, so we put her on a vet-recommended diet. Now she's eating at morning/evening meals, and is a little more eager for food than she used to be, but not as much as the younger lab, who's always been on meals.

@JebacStefan They are the most friendly, smart and loyal dogs.... You dont have to call them twice. If they play with another dog, maybe.... After your first shout they will look at you and ask you to let them play a bit more.... After the second shout they come instantly... but otherwise you dont have to run after them. After you had a labrador ... you wont desire any other ... thats my case too :)
I LOVE my labby she is the sweetest dog in the world i have a creek in my back yard and everytime she goes outside in the summer or days that its hot she will run down to the creek jump in it swim for 20 minutes or until i call her a she comes running to me soking wet! i love her so much and she has soooo much energy but she is 9 years old! the sweetest dog of all time

They seem to be English block heads, not American Labs. The blocks are shorter and much stockier than the American.

@Sandi1H There is a differance between being stocky and fat, most of these dogs, and show labs for th most part are fat. I have an english bred lab and yes, he is shorter and wider, but he has a waistline and you can see the muscles that should be visible on any sporting dog. Alot of these labs are just fat and have no shape.

The retrieving instinct thing is so true - I used to give our dog an empty water bottle just to carry when I walked him and he'd walk so much better and he was like 'Oh, this is my job. I'm the water bottle carrier' :)
I think he was an American Labrador because he was a good deal bigger than almost all the other Labradors I saw, I think they were English ones.
But if you're getting one think about getting a Lab cross - purebred Labs get so many health problems. Especially Obesity + arthritis.

@GoHabsGo0708 They are not fat. They are bench (show bred) Labs. This is the way the show bred Labrador Retriever looks. I prefer dogs with both show and field lines, personally. But, I personally don't like Eukanuba. My dogs ONPS.

Some of them were a little overweight. I have 2 labs both very healthy. Now you guys saw show labs or English style lab. Field labs are the taller leaner ones. I have both so if you want to see appropriate weights check out my vids on my dogs.

A few days later the owner of the Pomerainian was walking without his dog. The lab saw him and lunged at him and tried to bite him. The Labs owner was shocked at his dogs behaiviour. Seems that the Lab doesnt like the owner of the Pomerainian because he associates him with his irritating little dog. I thought the incident was pretty funny. Its like.......There's that guy with that irritating little dog. I need to bite him. LOL

My neighbor has a Black Lab. I always pet and hug the dog when i see him. The dog is always glad to see me. Each time I pet him he immediately lays on his back and wants a belly rub. My other neighbor has a very aggressine Pomerianian. I hate that dog. He tries to attack every dog and person he sees. Once when my neighbors turned the heads for a moment, the lab grabbed the Pomerainian with his jaws and started whipping his head back and forth. Somehow the little dog was'nt hurt.

I'm going through a very hard time with my labrador, he is just around 1 years old. He's the kindest best dog i know but he has a small problem, he's afraid of rage, and he has attacked a few people. So my parents have decided he has to be killed ='( R.I.P. i wish there was a cure for you're problem-.

@asmundurr These dogs are very intelligent and hardwired to learn and please, so it will be relatively simple to condition behaviour in or out of your dog, compared to most other breeds.

the dogs are not fat - they are "english" labradors, not the "american" labradors. the english are more stocky and blocky and the american are taller and leaner

@limeboyproductions My girlfriend has one of these and I thought he was fat (which is extremely unfair) when they moved in, so I gave him the best food on the market, exercised him loads and ended up cutting back his food a lot - until I released that this stocky, heavy looking weight is their equilibrium weight.

Story time!
My lab used to regulate her own eating. We'd just leave the bowl out, and fill it up as it got empty, and she'd nibble on it through the day. As a result, she was never food-oriented, because food was always available. Well, she got older, and started getting a little overweight, so we put her on a vet-recommended diet. Now she's eating at morning/evening meals, and is a little more eager for food than she used to be, but not as much as the younger lab, who's always been on meals.

I have a English Lab and my neighbor has a American Lab, there not much different but you can tell which kind it is. Like they said in video, Labs eat alot, they are balkyer. i feed my 2 labs purina and my 5 year old lab weighs about 85 pounds and my yellow lab/golden retreiver mix is 7 months old and 55 -60 pounds the vet said there the most fit labs he had seen in a while even my pit bull has a pretty good body weght for a 2 month old not to fat not to skinny

how do you train them to keep company and not wonder away in for an instance in a forrest when you let them run freely. i was thinking of getting a labrador companion you see :)

@JebacStefan They are the most friendly, smart and loyal dogs.... You dont have to call them twice. If they play with another dog, maybe.... After your first shout they will look at you and ask you to let them play a bit more.... After the second shout they come instantly... but otherwise you dont have to run after them. After you had a labrador ... you wont desire any other ... thats my case too :)

I LOVE my labby she is the sweetest dog in the world i have a creek in my back yard and everytime she goes outside in the summer or days that its hot she will run down to the creek jump in it swim for 20 minutes or until i call her a she comes running to me soking wet! i love her so much and she has soooo much energy but she is 9 years old! the sweetest dog of all time
