What's particularly important about Rush's speech was the time at which he gave it. Barack Obama was riding high in the polls & nobody had the guts yet to cricitize him. Rush was the only one doing it. This speech & Rick Santelli's rant helped fuel the resurgence we saw in 2009.
I agree also. My wife and I were watching CNN, and this came on live, and we were amazed and engrossed in his speech. He is so good. Everyone was saying that wanting the President to fail was like wanting our country to fail (Wanda Sikes said it, and then said she wanted Rush to die). He answered all of them by saying, "My name is Rush Limbaugh, and I want everyone of you watching and everyone in the country to succeed." Go Rush. Go America.

As far as I know, Obama's plan does not "force" anyone into a government plan. His plan calls for a government-run health care provider that would compete with current insurance companies; how is that any different than the US Postal Service competing with UPS and FedEx??
And we pay taxes to educate our kids, protect our families from fires and from crime, for roads we drive on, sidewalks we walk on, why is the idea of health care so dramatic?

Rush is free to do and say things an elected politician is not. It is regrettable but true. Why do you think he does not run for office when people beg and plead for him to be the Republican savior. What's particularly important about Rush's speech was the time at which he gave it. Barack Obama was riding high in the polls & nobody had the guts yet to cricitize him. Rush was the only one doing it. This speech & Rick Santelli's rant helped fuel the resurgence we saw in 2009.

As far as I know, Obama's plan does not "force" anyone into a government plan. His plan calls for a government-run health care provider that would compete with current insurance companies; how is that any different than the US Postal Service competing with UPS and FedEx??
And we pay taxes to educate our kids, protect our families from fires and from crime, for roads we drive on, sidewalks we walk on, why is the idea of health care so dramatic?

Still waiting on the Republican health care plan. So far, the only formal document they released had no numbers and outlined no new strategy. I don't mind people opposing Obama's plan, but at least have an alternative. Maintaining the current health care system would be like rearranging the lounge chairs on the deck of the Titanic. Yeah, the only sad thing is that he is relevent to a lot of other people out there. Elected officals might distance themselves away from his retorhic, but the average citizen (largely white, male and uneducated demographicly) eat his words up. They feel he speaks for them, says things they could only think but do not say. So Rush has tapped into a lot of bitterness and anger -- he foments it. It sucks because Rush could be so much better. He's not a dumg guy -- he just plays one on the radio.

Rush openly challenged Obama to a debate. Obama has not responded. After spending weeks trying to claim Rush is the head of the Republican debate, Obama is afraid to debate that "head of the Republican party".

The President never claimed such a thing. Rush only made that challenge because he for one knew the Presidency doesn't work that way, and Rush would have never debated the guy anyway. He doesn't do debate, like I said. Especially not with private citizens. Rush is not the "head" of the Republican party, but he represents a backward sector of the party that can't get votes. The Democrats were only calling attention to that. Rush trolls the media for comments anyway. It's part of his routine.

God forbid when Rush dies that it becomes more progressive, that means socialist. No, Ad Hominem is when your only argument is TO THE MAN, without any supporting evidence. I gave loads of evidence as to why I think Rush is bad news, I just didn't come out and say OMG HES A FAT BASTARD!! I called him a coward because I think he is one, in the "arena of ideas." At the very least, I don't throw around words like "liberal" as a pejorative and deliberately misrepresent the current administration. But as a faithful Rush listener concepts like "truth" are far beyond you, correct?

the reason why im am slipping away from the democratic party (and probably have) is because they dont value individualism. conservatives are more nationalistic and want individualsim. if u want america to continue and keep its image then americans need to get more nationalistic. people these days are just pussies and greedy. we have lost the american image that we once had during WWII and against the USSR. we used to be the light in teh dark world. however, the people we elected ruined it.

If they're going to make Rush an issue, and if they say Rush in charge of the GOP, then Obama should debate him. A debate would give Obama a chance to eliminate all of his competition, right?
