@RRRicard0 if you want a non touchscreen phone with an 8MP camera it is between these 2 and the Samsung innov8 or the SE C905...The N86 has the best build quality, best camera, and at least some apps. The W995 looks amazing and has the best media player. InnoV8 is great if you can find it. If you like this kind of styling I would look into an HTC Legend as well...although its not a slider and has touchscreen...it looks amazing. Good luck

I had a k850i (freggin awesome phone) and i really like the sony ericsson OS. it has loads of cool details, wich, after some time you cannot live without. also it's very intuitive.

unfortunately it stopped working, and i am really glad SE didn't stop making the handsets with their classic os. I mean, you buy a phone with loads of features, you use them alot the first 2 weeks, and then it becomes just like any other phone with loads of features.

i will buy w995, and im sure ill love it for years.

had n95 8gb - hated it, now have n86 and its awesome. the kickstand is sick and the USB speed with PC is around 6mb/s - fast phone overall comparing to old generation n95

Come on, the W995 still has the rubbish java OS, while the N86 has symbian S60v3, well, S60v3 means: free GPS (without internet connection with Nokia OVI maps, Sygic, Garmin, Ndrive), means you can edit Word, Excel, Powerpoint 2007/2003 and see PDF's as you could see it on your computer (using zoom), means GBA emulator, Sega megadrive emulator, Nes emulator, Ngage and play all that emulator with the 4 multimedias keys (slide down the phone) .

Lets get this straight they are 2 very good camera phones but the higher resolution display on the n86 makes it look sharper and the dual led instead of single. The nokia is a smaryphone running symbian and the w995 crappy java im not slagging it off but for an extra 34 quid u cant complain ima get the n86 on sunday:D

The w995 is a better camera phone, it has 8.1 megapixel, the screen may not be as bright as the n86, but if you take two separate photos and load them onto a computer and look at them, you'll notice the w995 has better quality even thought you wouldn't notice it on the phones screen.

@fraserm23 I agree, the pixel on nokia is scatter when you zoom in unlike w995 eventhough it is more contrast but when zoom in, the quality is still good, you can actually print it on the photopaper like looking at a quality of 8mp digital camera... even my k800 the camera was awesome. i always treasure SE phone and never been repaired but on nokia when you never use it they die ^_^

The guy just said it, there's no comparison, the ericsson isn't a smartphone while the n86 is! Their not even on the same class. The n86 sucks compared to other smartphones but the w995 ranks high on the list compared to other above average phones. Both are great phones, it's all preference really.

It can add simple java and jar games, but it is no smartphone. It is an excellent media phone. Music and imaging is where it excels. The N86 does both and handles apps. Both are great phones, I like N86 a bit more.

@joshuadoering It's not that it has a better firmware: the S60v5 is the Symbian firmware for touchscreen phones, while the S60v3 is the one for non-touchscreen phones. So it's not that one is better, or anything, it's just that one is for one kind of phone and the other one for another kind of phone.

I think the battery life on the W995 is a bit better than the N86 due to the Li-Pol vs. Li-Ion. In terms of sound quality I would go with the W995, overall its just a better mp3/media player than the N86. If you want the better camera the N86 is the way to go. Also N86 gives you apps from Ovi store and SlingBox functionality was a decider for me as well. All depends which features you value more...both are great devices. Hope this helps

Well just returned my W995 to the store and changed it for a N86 and the N86 Rulezzzz !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! picturequality is better and the phone is just more fun to use compared to the W995. Also display quality is better.

I would pass on the N85, you are better off with a N95 8GB. Between the N86 and W995 it's a toss up. If you are a fan of Symbian and want slightly better camera quality the N86 is for you. If you want style and great music/mp3 functions I would go with W995. Both are great devices.

The N86 for me has a better camera, the W995 does a better job at music and overall is a bit faster than the S60 device. Depends on which brand/build you like better. The Nokia vs SE debate has been going on for years. I personally use the N86 and feel it is a great device but not a major upgrade to the N95/N82

C905 is buggy full of software and hardware problems. This only refers to the unlocked version, I have not got my hands on the C905a for AT&T yet. N86 is a solid performer.

w995 is much nicer than c905. The C905 is not bad but it has so many problems. W995 is the best camera/multimedia phone that SE produces. I just prefer the N86 due the camera and build quality and the Symbian OS.

-8GB internal flash memery

-Dedicated music/gallery keys (top) side.

Most of the music features across the W series are very similar, but this is the only Sony Ericsson with an 8MP camera in the W series. Second for SE along with the C905.

What i really want to know is the ACTUAL Build quality of the N86 itself.

For me that is, I HAVE a wobbly slider. However this problem didn't appear in my N85.

So having a wobbly slider in a phone 'said' to have better build quality is rather discouraging.

Am i unlucky? Or do others have the same problem as me?
