I can't count the number of times I have watched and shared this video, it makes me cry every time. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
I am a devout Christian, but my grandmother was Jewish and I did go to temple a lot as a younger man and this song has always touched my Jewish soul - it is such a Hebraic Christian song.
@birthofeternity With all due respect...I need to tell you about Jesus Christ :
`
"10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole... 12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." Acts 4
`
Please seek Jesus Christ - your Eternity depends on it....kate
I absolutley love this version, they do an amazing job.....Praise be to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ....who loved us enough to come and be born, knowing that he would die....Thank You Lord <3
@adamdeweber Yes... sad huh? Lol... I want to re-do the whole thing using the same timing, but better quality footage. Maybe someday I'll get around to it. :)
@servantinHishouse Personally I'd pray for that troubled soul. Matter of fact, I will. Giving in to a temptation to use such as that is a common plague to modern society. It's rather sad.
I would have liked a much slower, more reverant hymn-like version, instead of some modern sounding, over-produced, glossy version of this song, yet the way they incorporated a somber-sounding, near Shindler's List theme, Hatikvah (national anthem of Israel), was actually stellar and genius in the way it kept coming back into the melody.
O Come, O Come, Emmanuel. Please live in my heart. Come into my life and make me yours. You have now paid the ransom for me. Thank you Son of God Who appeared as a baby, but was Emmanuel (the with us God). We can now Rejoice. Rejoice. All who believe. All who have received His Gift of eternal life. IF you have not, please receive His Christmas Gift 2U. Eternal life. Lord Jesus I want this eternal life. Do to me and in me whatever it takes, I pray. Amen. WATCH HIM WORK in your life!! ~ Rejoice.
It is believed that the traditional music stems from a 15th Century French processional for Franciscan nuns but it may also have 8th Century Gregorian origins. :) its simple beatiful and strong song..

I was moved by this video! I shared it on One Year Bible Blogging on facebook with the following group of verses; Note the similarity in scenery between the stories: Mat.27:66; "So they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal on the stone and posting the guard." Hosea13:14a; "I will deliver this people from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death." John 20:13; "Woman, why are you crying?" Daniel 6:22; "They have not hurt me... I was found innocent in his sight"
beautiful song we sang this song last sunday at church one of the things i enjoy sharing with my daughter and grandaughters is worshiping the lord together
it is the will of god that all come to repentance and be saved the bible says all who call upon the name of the lord shall be saved and god will have mercey on our sins and remeber them no more and he will be our god and we shall be his people god has no respect of persons we are all equal in his eyes no matter what race we are god loves us all live life from the heart sharing that love that can only come from jesus with everyone god bless you all
Awesome songe mate! This is by fr the best version of this song that I have ever heard. Great job ya'll. I will be looking for more of ya'lls music. You can count on that mate.
I just found this arrangement of this beautiful, timeless carol tonite...and I rate this on a scale of 1-10...an 11!
What an amazing arrangement and impeccable vocals!!!
Never heard this done better by anybody...
I have heard of Selah be4, but, have never heard much of their music...but, this one makes me want to go out and buy their music, and especially, the album this carol is on.
If this didn't get a Dove or Grammy, it, by golly, deserves one!!!
This is the best Advent song ever. This particular rendition is pretty good - I like the Hativa incorporated. However, I think the singing it is a bit too 'Christian Pop'-ish. There was a rendition done by a group of monks that sung this the best ever, but I can never find it.
@micifuz100 Christian: The Jews were given just one gift to give to the world and they rejected him. Now they are condemned to a futile wait for another Messiah who will never come. While they fight the Muslims for control of the world they do not realise that Jesus will return to claim his possession and share it with the least deserving of all - Christians! It is by grace you have been saved!
@ruchi750 is that that song that basically every jew knows or something? because i'm pretty sure i learned how to play it on the violin! its so pretty
@ruchi750 Yes, it is the Tikva....I found this out from comments posted last year on youtube. I think it is such a beautiful way to meld the story and Jewish heritage to Christ and Christmas.
I don't think that they were claiming to know when He is coming back. We know he is coming back. They were making a statement that they look forward to the day when Christ returns!
Fabulous!!! Like most Selah arrangements, this one is magnificent. It captures the haunting, yearning spirit of the hymn while expressing inspiration, reverence and a host of powerful human emotions. I love this recording. Bravo!!!!
this is my absolute favorite vid on youtube of a Christmas song. I fell in love with the song arrangement and the beautiful scenes. Thanks for posting!!! 1000000 *'s for you!
favorite Christmas hymn EVER!!! I just wish we would realize that it's not just for Christmas. This should be the hymn we sing to ourselves every day. Because one day He will come and this time not as a baby, but as THE KING!!! I can't wait for that day, because it is that day that we will finally see the true glory of God, oh what a day it shall be.
It was actually a Shira-Hanukkah, a Hanukkah song. We waited for 'Emanu'el even as far as the 5th Century and even to this day. But many of us also wait for the day when the menorah won't be the neriot that we light: we look for Whom is the ner-ha'shemash.
Hatikvah (Hebrew: הַתִּקְוָה, lit. The Hope) is the national anthem of Israel. The anthem was written by Naphtali Herz Imber, a secular Galician Jew from Zolochiv (today in Lviv Oblast),[1] who moved to the Land of Israel in the early 1880s.
The anthem's theme revolves around the nearly 2000-year-old hope of the Jewish people to be a free and sovereign people in the Land of Israel. (Courtesy of Wikipedia)
No one knows when Christ will return - there is no way to know the date or time. This is a false statement that only confuses and misleads. Look to what we do know about Jesus...read the historical accounts of the Bible. If you accept Jesus as God's Son who died and rose again to set you free from sin, there is no need to worry about when He will come back - because you're already His.
@AbigailAdams1 you are wrong. it is not a false statement. as you can see no one does know the time or date. it is a fact. and you do need to worry, because most christians are still in their sin. It is a warning to stop your sin. Even though you are already his, you might push him away allowing you to fall away. Do not call a statement and verse in the bible misleading or false.
@Hmoob54321 Sorry to interrupt you two, but it seems that you have misunderstood each other somehow. Abigail is not wrong... the Bible does clearly state that no one knows the day or the hour of Christs return (not even the son) - so if Jesus doesn't know, what makes anyone think they do? Lol... Hmoob - she was calling a previous POST false and misleading (dimstar4now - above her), not the bible verse. Read carefully before attacking fellow believers. We're family after all. :)
Christmas is a pagan invention of the Catholic Church. The pagan religious customs of the Roman Saturnalia are the origin of almost all of the traditional Christmas. The date itself is taken from the sun gods birthday celebration on December 25.
Catholic Encyclopedia
"Natalis InvictiThe well-known solar feast, however, of Natalis Invicti, celebrated on 25 December, has a strong claim on the responsibility for our December date."
Read Jeremiah 10:1-5,This passage is obviously ,Christmas tree

favorite Christmas hymn EVER!!! I just wish we would realize that it's not just for Christmas. This should be the hymn we sing to ourselves every day. Because one day He will come and this time not as a baby, but as THE KING!!! I can't wait for that day, because it is that day that we will finally see the true glory of God, oh what a day it shall be.

@lookforthelight
except its an advent song ;)
but yes i agree!
pearlgrl2010 1 year ago
@lookforthelight : just a small correction. Not a christmas hymn. It is an advent hymn, to be sung only before Christmas, but not at christmas.

@bonncaruso Granted, but why? Are we not still in Advent? Christmas is a reminder that He came once, but He left with the promise to return.

The hope of the Jewish people is their Messiah, not a free and sovereign land.
elavaney 2 years ago 2
In a sense, it is both. They long for the Messiah so they can have a free & sovereign land, do they not?

Ready? Jesus Christ returning May 21, 2011 4 Judgment. C dimstar4now if u care.
dimstar4now 2 years ago
No one knows when Christ will return - there is no way to know the date or time. This is a false statement that only confuses and misleads. Look to what we do know about Jesus...read the historical accounts of the Bible. If you accept Jesus as God's Son who died and rose again to set you free from sin, there is no need to worry about when He will come back - because you're already His.

Well put. Thank you.
justus3llp 2 years ago
@AbigailAdams1 you are wrong. it is not a false statement. as you can see no one does know the time or date. it is a fact. and you do need to worry, because most christians are still in their sin. It is a warning to stop your sin. Even though you are already his, you might push him away allowing you to fall away. Do not call a statement and verse in the bible misleading or false.
Hmoob54321 1 year ago
