I'm convinced D.Selivanov was one of the most underestimated Russian musicians of 80-s. Now its rather hard to get engulfed by this type of music, but this was really shivering and progressive for Russian rock scene in 80-s. Far beyond...
BTW I also think that Dmitri's influence upon Egor Letov was really important and strong. And it was concerts of GO with Selivanov as a guitarist that made GO a legend of Russian punk scene.
@meg8egb Thank you for your insightful comment! Indeed he was. I think that the amazing guitar playing on this whole record deserves a mention aswell. Original and innovative, without falling into the typical guitar wankery traps. I remember how I once read how he made the transition from punk to industrial/new wave/edm in six months, while the Western musicians used several years to come up with this style of sound. That does really show what an amazing musician this man was.
@meg8egb And yeah, I really think his influence upon Letov was huge aswell. I think Letov once said that Selivanov was the best guitarist in Russia and the fact that he mentioned his suicide in "Veriski i koreski", I really think shows what a huge influence Selivanov had on Letov.
I've got "Prodano!" by Yanka uploaded on my profile, so check it out! :) Have yet to upload some Egor solo stuff, but just keep watching as I might do so in the future.
I couldn't post a reply on this video for some weird reason when I posted it. Anyway, it seems to work now. Those of you that's interested in this hidden gem may download it here: mediafire{.}com/?ymgnwxh2vyz

Why did so many of these soviet bands use drum machines?

Lack of drummers basically. Drum kits were rather expensive too I believe. Thanks for subscribing by the way! :)
