The Godfather deserves respect as the greatest film ever made, and I don't simply say that because of my Italian blood.

Every one of the characters has a story to tell, even the secondary ones, and the depth of the film is deeper than deep, enough to make these modern day twilighters have a seizure due to their incredibly tiny brains.

When you think about it rationally such a beautiful song does not seem to fit with a film about violent gang warfare.

But then it speaks to the heart. The Godfather is a truly epic film with a truly epic theme song. They are a perfect pair, even if there appears to be no logic to it.

And in a strange way there is almost a nostalgia to the film, that this music certainly helps. The old violent gang warfare was so much more civilised than the modern charade.
