  • They are thick out here in the North Carolina Coastal areas... Just walk along the shores out here between February and November and they are washed up ashore or swimming past you in the waters. :0

  • According to my zoology class, you can grab the Man of War by the Sail and it is technically a hydrozoan.

  • If things like this, including jelly fish, don't even have a BRAIN, nor HEART, then why the FUCK do they exist?! So many questions, yet so few answers.. xD

  • @BlakePlacebo they exist because they work, just because we dont like them doesnt mean they shouldnt exist, same with snakes, spiders, mosquitoes ect.

  • ummm..... i have a question if they are in those pacific places, why duid i see a dead one on the beach in australia??? 0.0

  • @TailsSonicPaige123 the video never said they only exist in those places, i assume they must live all over the world seeing as they must be able to eat pretty much anything

  • I wonder if the scarring Is permanent?

  • why are the called the protugese if you cant get them in portgual

  • I have no idea how they have sex..

  • pop the bubble!

  • Surprisingly, I was at after prom in Galveston TX and saw one of these washed up on the shore. I touched it with a stick and the air bladder popped. I felt like an asshole..

  • These bastards do hurt a bit, but holy crap vinegar provides AMAZING relief. I'm currently 13, I reside in Melbourne Florida last year when I was at a beach one of these creatures was floating a a good 10 ft away from me, I didn't realize it was there until I felt this horrible stinging in my armpit. I ran out of the water (I was only 3 or so feet in) and made my way to the lifeguard who had a bottle of vinegar, poured a bit on me and I was fine. Really the only bad part was that I had to shave.

  • this is greatly exaggerated I get stung all the time by these little blue bottles and it only stings a bit.... the worst I have been stung is all over my leg and that only lasted a few hours. Vinegar always does the trick.

  • Oh my god I see thouse laying around on the beach in santa cruz and sometimes I cant braethe realyy good thnx for the vid ima go see a doctor

  • glados has Jelly Fish

  • If it looks like a jellyfish stings like a jellyfish eats like a jellyfish it's a freaking jellyfish ok! I don't care that it doesn't quite fit into some pinheads definition of a jelly when it's the definition that is flawed.

  • @fuzzydragon it's not a jelyfish because it's not one organism....it's made up of colonies of other organisms that are not jellyfish...and yes i'm reiterating what the narrator said

  • 2:51, penis blister

  • i wanna poke it :D

  • @CreeprThaReaper no dont be horrible

  • Now*

  • OK PPL we get it! It's not a jellyfish it says in theovie, not shut up!!

  • Jellyfish do sting. They don't make jelly.

  • this is why i dont go swimming in the ocean.

  • i first saw this in a book and somehow, its one of my favorite animals

  • are these the same as blue bottles?

  • answers to submyfavorite

1.no,they are complex organisms made out of medusas and polyps.

2.no,it can control each one of its stinging cells.

3.no,the wing is not venomous, you can pick it up (if your retarded enough too) by its sail.

    those are the answers.

  • today one of those washed up on beach at galveston. it was cool.

  • These guys are like the douchebags of the sea.

  • i got stung by one they hurt really bad

  • Also known as a bluebottle.

  • its not really an animal but animals. a lot stuck together.

  • Is it really an "animal"?

  • It can't sting itself, and you can pick it up by the top "float" bit.

  • few questions

1-if man o war isnt a jellyfish then what the hell is it?

2-can it sting it self?like if its tenticals stroke on himself

3-is the wing venomos? if you grab it

  • its a blamonge fish

  • If you find the answers to those questions then pls tell us all.

    WE NEED TO KNOW.

  • k im gunna search

  • @slk320k 1- its a collection or colony of little jelly fish working to gether as 1

2- it cant sting it self cause it controls the stinging cells

    3-no its not

  • @slk320k you will find all the answers to your questions on my channel

  • @slk320k

1- They are what is classed as a Siphonophorae.

2- No, the tentacles contain receptor cells.

3- No, the crest and body contain no tentacles of their own.

  • 1- The Man`o way is a type of Siphonophore.

They Are Hydrozoa, where as True Jellyfish Belong to the Scyphozoa. However there

are Many Medusae "Jellyfishes" which are also Hydrozoa, "hydromedusa" which are this animals Relatives.

2- No it can`t sting itself, All Organisms that Have Nematocysts also produce a protective mucous which shields them from there own Sting, both by Physical barrier and Chemically Inhibiting the nematocysts.

3- No, But don`t feel free to grab it. -Continued-

  • You should avoid touching them regardless. Most Cnidaria, Hydrozoa in particular are known for having notoriously Thin Tissues. If you don`t sustain a seriously Injury yourself by grabbing it, The Animal itself Sure will. They are very fragile and misunderstood creatures.

  • it can probably sting itself but i doubt it will do any harm since most venomous creatures are immune to theyre own poison

but since this creature doesnt have any blood brain or heart i cant really answer

  • @submyfavorite 1- i have no idea 2- no, it, like most other venomous animals, is immune to it's own venom 3- no, only the tentacles have venom primed stinging cells

  • @submyfavorite it actually isnt a jelly fish, its consisted of 4 different polyps which work together as one organism.

  • @submyfavorite

    1) It's not a jellyfish, it's actually a they as it is technically 4 seperate organism who have become specialized to the point they depend on one another (called a siphonophorae)

    2) It can not sting itself as it is immune to it's own sting

    3) The air bladder is not venomous, only the tenticals are.

  • @submyfavorite

1.Its a siphonophore, meaning its a group of organisms known as zooids.

2.No it can't sting itself, its immune

3.No the sail is not poisonous, as the stinging cells are in the localized in the tentacles.

  • @submyfavorite watch my channel for answers to all your questions about portuguese man of war

  • @submyfavorite its pretty much just a bunch of small organizems making a big form of jellyfish

  • @submyfavorite It is a Siphonophore, no it can't sting it self, as for ur third question i don't know :/

  • @submyfavorite its made up of a few different animals connected together to create one animal

  • @submyfavorite It's a colony of four creatures that are symbiotic. This beastie is a bit more complex than a Jelly.

  • @submyfavorite It's not a jellyfish only in the technical sense of the word, this only counts if you're talking to a marine biologist. It could probably sting itself if the stinging cells hit the top, but since it has no nervous system it probably couldn't feel it. The top part is, to the best of my knowledge, not venomous, but don't take any chances.

  • @submyfavorite to1: look wiki for Siphonophorae

  • @submyfavorite

answer 1: it is a colony of four organisms with pololyps or something

answer 2: no it can not, its like asking if we can tickle ourselves. it is impossible.

answer 3: no it is not. only the tentacles are poisonous.

  • @submyfavorite

    1. the Man o' War is not a true jellyfish but a siphonophore, which differ from jellyfish in that they are not actually a single creature, but a colonial organism

    2. No, it can't. Like other toxic animals, it's immune, or it just won't sting itself.

    3. No it aint, but i wouldn't reccommend it!

    Greets

  • @submyfavorite It is not a jellyfish, its organisms bunched up together

It cannot sting it self because the tentacles it uses to stroke it self are used for cleaning, not stinging.

And the wing is not venomos

  • @submyfavorite

The floater has no stinging cells, only the tentacles.

  • @submyfavorite no ive picked one up by the blob bit and it dosent sting .only the tenticles sting

  • @submyfavorite

1- Technically it is within the Phylum Cnidaria like all normal jellyfish, but jellyfish come from the Class Scyphozoa, whereas the Man O'War is from the Siphonophora (within the Class Hydrozoa). There are much weirder and more wonderful siphonophores out there....

2- It doesn't sting itself as it is also able to effectively taste with it's tentacles

3- The float (pneumatophore) is is devoid of stinging cells, so it should be fine. Frankly, I'd be damn careful either way...

  • Comment removed

  • @submyfavorite 1 - it's a colony of a ton of tiny animals living together making up the "jellyfish"

2 - No, it is naturally immune

    3 - idk

  • @submyfavorite i doubt they'd evolve to hurt itself lol
