I visited Ljulbljana for a week for a conference in 2010 and had a wonderful time. Really friendly people, wonderful architecture, and great for biking. I'd go back in a heartbeat.
I am fully half Slovenian and was born and raised in the USA. I now live in Paris, France and hope to visit Slovenia soon. I have relatives there, perhaps. I keep meeting Slovenians here in France who speak perfect English with no accent whatsoever. If anyone can advise me on how to save money my first visit there, which may be alone as a woman in her 50s, I'd appreciate it. I loved Iceland but wasted a lot of money initially. Thanks!
My goodness, you can still see cars driving through the Prešeren's square! :D (0:51 - 0:56). Now it's closed for the traffic, and only walking zone. Thank god, it feels so good to walk there not worrying about car coming towards you. :D
I love Ljubljana, have been there as a student for two years. After finishing the studies, I wish to stay there. :)
@swansbear They are closely related but slovenian language didn't evolve from serbo-croatian, so it can't be a form of serbo-croatian. One interesting thing about slovene is, beside singular and plural the Slovene grammar also uses the dual. It is used for two persons or objects. :)

@AndreyPurtov Slovenians speak slovene. I'm told it is quite different to other forms of Serbo-Croat.

@swansbear It's nor a form of Serbo-Croat. It's truly quite different. Slovene and Croatian is like Spanish and Portugese.
