@blizzardman59 IMO you are wrong in calling Conniff's music elevator music. While the mechanical executions and interpretations certainly do not allow room for much praise, the virtuosity of the brass section and the nice choral arrangements do allow it to stand head over shoulders over the usual elevator muzak.

Having listened to and enjoyed the sweeping strings versions I would never have believed I could enjoy equally an up tempo version such as that by Ray Conniff. Just shows you the man's genius for arranging, orchestrating and then presenting. Will there be the likes of him and his contemporaries again? I wonder. Certainly there will be an eager audience if it comes to pass.

The tempo, background chorus, the whole arrangement thing, ...IS Conniff.  It's what we loved about him...40+ yrs. ago. I still have the 78's from the album. Ray, Mitch Miller, so many 'greats' back in the day. My mom and dad played them all the time.
