just a quick question the sliding in cages dont appear to have lids I know you know what you are doing but just wondering how they stay iin the plastic cages
do you have the inland taipan? i seen you had a taipan (dont know if it was inland) in your older video and would be cool if you could do another video on the snake!
Been a long time since I saw your stuff, but as always, cool stuff.
Now, for an odd question: I know that some snakes include fish in their diets (at least the water-based ones). Do you have any snakes that enjoy fish in your collection?
Let's not paint with a "broad brush". No excuses for traditional treatment of conditions or diseases. Snakebite treatment is an area of "specialty medicine" and not all doctors are trained very well if at all. In the case I sited, there was a medical toxicologist involved who should have known how to proceed, however egos were involved as well as other issues. They failed to consult the experts.
That "wiggly" thing is it's tail, which it uses for attracting prey. It's called Caudal luring, a natural behavior. It's not your concern how many snakes I keep and how they get taken care of. My animals get good care and feed.
Wow! A whole new reason to watch ViperKeeper on YouTube! I was thumbing through my Lamar and Campbell set a month or two ago, and noticed the B. alternatus. My sudden interest in that species reminds me of when I first got into herps... It's a fun feeling to be so enthralled and mystified with a species of snake. I've been meaning to ask you if you had worked with them. Is that one in the video your first? Awesome snake btw... I'd really like to see more vids of that alternatus in the future.
As I recall from "Cobras in His Garden", Haast didn't need antivenin or a respirator to survive the blue krait bite, though he certainly needed them for his first king cobra bite. The bungarotoxins did affect his eye muscles, requiring him to move his head more to see things.
Haast did go on a respirator for the krait. It was the only bite in his career that nearly killed him. (I grew up in Miami, I remember it pretty well)
The caudal luring is the coolest thing ever! I freaked a little when I saw the krait checking out your hand when it was so close. Phew! Silly, lazy death adder with one piece of bark on the head for camo. Beautiful vid as always - thank you.
The snake in the box was kind of freaky..What kind of snake was that again??? Is there anyway you could do more videos on the water cobra? The one thats up wont show!! Good Job!!

The clearence between the top of the tub and the shelf above is very small. The rack is well designed.

viperkeeper 3 years ago

Cougarmint 3 years ago
I have some wild caught water cobra's that enjoy fish...have not tried anyone else.
viperkeeper 3 years ago
Understood... I don't think the others would care about fish so much as they like rats and chicks.
Cougarmint 3 years ago
Al, what do you use to put holes into your plastic containers? thanks in advance!
wtmolinejr 3 years ago
It's called a "step bit" for my drill.
viperkeeper 3 years ago
hi al, when the vid open, u said it time to give the guy roughage, do hopper mice offer more roughage than rat pupps sorry for the stupid question
buzzboa 3 years ago
There is nothing left (almost)of Rat/mouse pinks after they are distilled down by the snake. Hoppers at least have hair that is not digested.
viperkeeper 3 years ago

Doctors seem to love making mistakes. Both of my grandparents passed away from doctor mistakes.
