it didn show in New York on Broadway. It did, however, have shows in Canada as well as Germany, Austria, Russia, Italy and Hungary. There were different casts involved, and the story was changed depending on the cities (eg. in most shows they didn have 'death' or added a Lord Montague).

oh ya and they adapted it to the individual languages, hence some songs were dropped as well. the french one is the longest running so far, but only Damien Sargue has remained from the original french cast.
