I have travelled widely in India and found that taking a little closer look at the daily discipline of people in different regions of India, is marked by age old customs with the least influene by the ubiquitous media. It is also enriched by use of Sanskrit words in regular communication, besides prayer "Shlokas" at home and in temples, right from the Himalayas to the southern tip of India. Modern Greek is no longer the beautiful Ancient Greek, nixter. You must admit it. Modern Greek is but a shadow of what Ancient Greek once was.
However, not even Ancient Greek with all its complexities and archaisms of the verbal system comes close of Sanskrit. Sanskrit is MORE ARCHAIC than Ancient Greek.

I have travelled widely in India and found that taking a little closer look at the daily discipline of people in different regions of India, is marked by age old customs with the least influene by the ubiquitous media. It is also enriched by use of Sanskrit words in regular communication, besides prayer "Shlokas" at home and in temples, right from the Himalayas to the southern tip of India. This is besides or instead of regional language ones.

@suchandradasi Current scholarship dates the Rg-Vedas to around 1500 BCE. This was after the Indus Valley Civilization (sic) came and went. In contrast, egyptian civilization sort of began around the 3100 BCE.
The Vedas are an important part of human and desi history, but they aren't the oldest religious tracts/texts, but possibly the oldest that relates to a continuous religious tradition.

The most extant examples of written Sanskrit are in Gandhara in Karosthi script, and all over the rest of India in Brahmi script (Ashokan script). Vedas were thought to be COMPOSED (not written) in 1500 BCE. Upanishads probably came soon after, and the Mahabharata and Ramayan around the same time as the Iliad and Odyssey

Modern Greek is no longer the beautiful Ancient Greek, nixter. You must admit it. Modern Greek is but a shadow of what Ancient Greek once was.
However, not even Ancient Greek with all its complexities and archaisms of the verbal system comes close of Sanskrit. Sanskrit is MORE ARCHAIC than Ancient Greek.
While I respect Ancient Greek as a language and Ancient Greeks as a people, I do not underestimate the value of other cultures.
