  • out fo curiosity, can you still foil going downwind with the kite up, or does this mess with the boats balance too much?

  • NICE any windyer that would be going like a bat out of hell :)

  • rudder is at the front

  • i think that a foiling 49er will not become standard.... reason i say this is that most of the hydrofoil boats we have seen of late are regular strictly governed classes of boats with some T-foils slapped on underneath. look at the other examples of this, 18 foot skiff, 16 foot skiff, 12 foot skiff etc. the classes are all very strict and will not allow such a radical change of design.

  • @element9977, 18ft skiffs and 12s really don't have many restrictions at all. Apart from the moth or cherub they are probably the most unrestricted classes around. They may not ever take up the foling in 18s or 12s but there is a much bigger chance then them doing it over the 49er class.

49er class will never take up the foiling idea for many reasons; ISAF recognised class, Olympic chosen class, strictly one design and always will be (new rig was to keep up with other classes rig changes) etc

  • where is the rudder ??????

  • kick butt looks like you guys are going well!

  • siick cant wait until it becomes standard

did you guys hammer a foiling jybe?

  • wow thats looking reasonably stable now

  • It's using the canyard (front foil) to steer!

  • @HB9er Hey man! What wind speeds does this thing need to reach top speed, and what is its top speed, exactly?

  • where is the rudder????

  • Did you get a hair cut?
