  • Oh that's why your games have baggies around them! Haha I've always wondered that..

  • awesome! one question, whats the size of those sandwich bags?

i can only imagine them being 16 by 12 cm but i dont think theres such a size out there.

    please reply

  • @thestopmotionguy100 not sure the size. just regular sandwich bags

  • Very Helpful !!

  • Does it hurt if you get a little rubbing alcohol on the inside plastic that's next to the connector? It seems like that would be hard to avoid doing.

  • @TRexTurtle i wouldnt worry about it

  • Good tips! I didn't know rubbing alcohol was so bad on everything but the pins. Glad I only use a tiny bit on a Q-tip pins only. I think you just talked me into sitting down and cleaning up these damn super nes games I got back on 9-29... For the rubbiing alcohol there are these dispenser things called nail polish remover dispenser that are awesome for dipping qtips in. example ebay item #140614757039 base wars one of my favorites btw.

  • @LoricElf lol i got all the nail polish items ^^ i loved cleaning the games great NES spending time.

  • i use windex to clean the pins and i use the dry part to dry it after words will they all corrode?

  • @MrNescollection well if you clean a game once, bag it and keep it clean and you shouldnt have to clean it more than once in a long while. but constant cleaning of one game with anything will corrode it.

  • you should use 50% alcohol and 50% water to clean the chip. straight alcohol could cause corrosion.

  • @readme60 i have seen people submerge nes carts in water. freeze then , un thaw them , and play them. seeing this i would believe that a higher water content alc like a 50% or a 70% might work ok compared to a 90%. over time i would think water and humididty would cause the corrosion. im no chemist i just know what ive tried and failed. ty !

  • @vinnieblacklodge ok ill experiment a little.

  • I've have been cleaning games with 99% Rubbing Alcohol for years now and I have never had a problem.

I have never seen corrosion on my games.

Years ago my sister tried cleaning a SNES with water and it fucked up the game for good.

  • Good info will use some of your tricks i dont do myself

  • @thegoon02 as i was cleaning the other night i made another small safety adjustment but i forgot what it was atm lol...

  • @vinnieblacklodge lol can u use the same cleaning for the old old school games like for a2600 and so on?

  • @thegoon02 i would imagine this method would apply to any game made with gold pins connectors. the first carts were prolly made the same way with a metal that can corrode so a good polish should help.

  • I would liek to add that you shjould actually use 99.9% isoproply alcohol, available at the pharmacy. That 91% stuff could have some slightly corrosive stuff in there.

  • I use baby wipes on myself when I make #2. They are awesome, it gets rid of all the last brown resin and remnants. Highly recommended. Only about 4 or 5 cents a day to have a completely clean butthole area.

  • Great to see how others clean there games dude, i use anti-bacterial wipes to clean my boxes and games.

  • Always good to see how people do 'the cleaning of them carts'

    Good video matey!

  • Nice cleaning but of i clean my nes games it well take forever !

  • @xxHeavenTearsxx at 6-10 mins a game yeah a collection could take a long time. 44 hours im figured mine and im about 28 in.

  • Excellent video,i use pretty much the same technique but if it helps some other people then thats great.

I want to try the eraser technique ive also heard of using brasso on the pins to buff them up.

  • @amurphy245 ive only used the eraser on the hucards i got as there easy to clean. and its worked great.

  • Cool video! I am even crazier than you about it, I got the security bit and clean both the inside and outside of the game before it gets near my systems.

  • @BackForwardPunch yeah thats a life long goal ill do one a month forever lol

  • Great video Vinnie :)

Like how the sandwich bags fit the NES carts...perfect fit ;)

  • @thomas3120 looks a lot better than i thought !

  • @cloverkyozo and axe is still alcohol just with other chemicals

  • @cloverkyozo i tried it on the older permanent marker but it still didnt come off wiht rubbing i think some of the stuff just isnt removable lol

  • Awesome video! What was the one game you had to do the most work on?

  • @WhiteGirlsAsianPLZ my copy of golgo 13 looked like someone spilled a Guinness extra stout on it it took a bit of cleaning.

  • Vinnie! Good to know about cleaning the pins only with alcohol. I was cleaning my gba game pins with baby wipes. :(

  • @poptartlove2010 oo yeah way too much moisture

  • @cloverkyozo Really? cool I will have to try it out. Thanks for the info!

  • @arcadegametable just make sure whatever you put on there dosent have alcohol in it if so jsut try a little at a time.

  • @cloverkyozo only on games with female lead characters... or dudes with spiked 80's hair

  • That's pretty much what I do. If you ever need to take permanent marker off of games you can use a Mr.Clean Magic Eraser. I used a generic dollar store Magic Eraser on my Dreamcast and it made that thing look brand new again!

  • @sinistermoon ahh yes thats a great item it works wonders gently ! lol

  • Great video man! Pretty informative!

  • Sweet instruction video, I need to start the process my collection of near 200 NES carts. Any easy suggestions for permanent marker besides alcohol? sorry if I missed and was already mentioned in the video!

  • @arcadegametable i find marker newer than 10 years old comes off pretty easy with alc. its the 20 ish year old writing that you can really wear out the plastic trying to scrub off with alcohol. some of this stuff i just leave as is. on some games i has even left small stickers and whatnot till i have the time to go back and slowly take off. any sticker removal need to be thought over a few times as you can forever altering the games condition.

  • @arcadegametable as for a super positive effective solution for removing marker and writing i do not know i would have to spend a bit looking online studying up.

  • @vinnieblacklodge Thanks for your time, I have a many carts covered in writing from rental stores/yard sales etc.. and I try to avoid the harsh cleaners on the outer plastic when possible!

  • to open carts you use 3.8

to open system you use 4.5

  • @SkoogGaming kool thanks !
